Jean looked at Lina. "It is okay. I can stand," Jean said with a forced smile on her face.
"Oh no. We're on a plane. It's not safe. Can't take safety for granted especially when you're up in the sky. Mr. and Mrs. Qi, we can hang out together sometime when we get to the Imperial Capital," Lina said with a smile as she stood up. After giving them both a kind look, she walked back to her own seat.
Zed didn't think much of Lina's words. On the other hand, Jean felt a surge of displeasure upon hearing the open invitation.
"Zed, how well do you know her?"
Jean looked at Zed and asked with a serious expression.
"I just told you that she is our business associate for next season. We just had dinners together on a few occasions," explained Zed with a smile. It was the first time Zed saw Jean openly jealous. Because of this, he was rather amused.
"If you two are acquainted through business alone, I can assume you're not forgetting why we're going to the Imperial Capital in the first place. Please don't bring your business into our private life," Jean said with seriousness.
"Okay, I got it. After we get off the plane, I will politely decline her invitation to hang out," Zed nodded seriously. Inside, he was laughing to himself as he watched Jean. He tried his best to keep a straight face to hide his true feelings.
Satisfied with Zed's reply in cooperative attitude, she sat down back on her seat with a content smile. The juice she had ordered was already there in front of her. The stewardess must have brought it in while she was in the bathroom.
She picked up the cup and downed the juice. After which, she pulled the blanket close to her and got settled in the seat. "I think I'm going to get some sleep. I'm feeling kind of tired now," she said to Zed.
With that, she pulled the blinders down and started to doze off just like that.
Zed watched her in silence.
He wanted to talk with Jean for a little while more, but seeing that she was really tired, Zed decided to swallow back his words.
Besides, it was getting close to midnight already. Zed put on his blinders and went to sleep too.
It was already early in the morning when the plane landed on the airport of Imperial Capital.
The sky of the Imperial Capital was dusky and overcast, which was really depressing.
Jean was feeling the same way inside.
When her sister ran away from the wedding, Autumn was forced to marry Charles.
His name had been linked to innumerable ladies.
He had different girlfriends for every day of a year.
Autumn had never thought that she would fall in love with him.
hy is Jean so silly to make such an expression when she doesn't even like to listen?
Doesn't she know my mom's personality well enough?
Her expression can only misguide Jade, and make her more excited that she probably will never stop talking, ' Zed thought to himself.
"Okay, Mom," Zed finally had to interfere. "We have been on the plane for an entire night. It was exhausting. You let Jean and me have some time quiet, okay?"
"You bad boy! I haven't seen Jean for such a long time. You don't even allow me to have some small talk with her," Jade said in an upset tone.
"I don't mean that," Zed smiled wryly. "You're not having small talk. You're giving a long speech. Do you want Jean to avoid you every time she sees you in the future?"
Jade turned to Jean immediately when she heard Zed say that. "Jean, do you think I am too talkative?" Jade asked, pouting a little at Jean.
'Yeah, a little, '
Jean said inside and turned to look at Zed.
Zed winked at her, suggesting her to speak straight from her heart.
However, Jean couldn't bear say that to her mother-in-law.
As a daughter-in-law, how could she say something to offend her?
After a short moment of silence, Jean cleared her throat, took a long breath and said with a smile, "Of course not. Mother, we haven't seen each other for so long. I am so glad to see you again."
"You see, bad boy?" Jade grinned and her eyes narrowed into two thin lines, looking like a person who just hit the jackpot.
With a scoff, she rolled her eyes at Zed and turned her attention back to Jean.
