Jean heaved a sigh of regret as she held on to the tools.
If only she had put in better effort in searching the warehouse last night, she would have found the pair of scissors and she wouldn't have had spent six hours trying to wriggle herself free from the ropes tied around her hands with the help of a tiny screw.
However, at the same time, she was also worried that someone might suddenly come in so she didn't want to make any noise.
She really didn't have enough experience in handling such a situation.
Since there were a lot of broken machines and appliances lying around the warehouse, she figured there had to be tools too.
The minute Jean realized she should've found the scissors, she suddenly heard footsteps.
Her heart beat rapidly as the nervousness increased. In a panic, she picked up the scissors and the hammer and returned to where they had originally placed her. She positioned the rope around her feet and her hands the way they had put it on her.
She closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep. Soon, the iron gate squeaked open and the footsteps started getting louder.
Jean slowly and unconsciously opened her eyes as the nervousness worsened.
The sound of the iron gate squeaking and the footsteps coming closer frightened Jean to no end.
She chose to keep her eyes open.
She wanted to see her kidnapper.
She was disappointed to find more than one person arriving. The one nearest to her and looking down at her was a young man.
The man had colorful hair and was wearing outrageous clothes. Jean had never seen him before in her life.
She also wasn't sure whether Zed knew him or not.
"Who are you? Why did you bring me here?" Jean asked coldly, staring at the man.
"Wow, a brave heart in a fragile body, I like that!" the young man said, showing his perfect set of teeth. He inhaled a puff of smoke and exhaled it onto Jean's face.
The smoke enveloped Jean as she tried to avoid it.
"How dare you
It all starts on that fateful night.
When Ella, who is the dear sister of Samuel’s best buddy, sneaks into the hotel where the drunken Samuel resides and gets pregnant…
"I don’t want a divorce!"
"I don’t want a divorce!"
"I did no such thing!"
Ella jumped on the bed and cried out. “I don’t want a scheming woman as my wife. Just sign the paper...
ning me?"
"No, of course not, Cody. You're our boss and we trust you. But as for her, I have to agree with Caleb. I don't think she's just anybody. I think she's married to someone powerful," Cary said.
"Cary, what's your point? Are you turning into a coward? We already figured this out since we promised we'd do good on this deal. Since the both of you are hesitating, it's obvious that you have both lost your trust in Cody. Or you don't believe that we can get away with this?"
Cliff asked, disgruntled.
"Cliff, you know I didn't mean it that way," Cary said, anxiously trying to explain. "It just makes good sense for us to find out who she is first. Last night when we drove back, there were police cars following us. Think about that carefully—this woman is being protected by Imperial Capital police. Aren't you the least bit curious on who she is?"
Jean was able to make out what happened based on their conversation.
The four young men were hired to kidnap her.
But they had no idea who she was or why they kidnapped her.
Even now, they still didn't know her identity.
'Who is the manipulator behind the kidnapping? Why did he kidnap me on the first day of our arrival in Imperial Capital?
Why didn't he show up, but send these four rogues to do this?' Jean was wondering.
