"Grandpa, it's not like that," Zed responded. "Someone hired August and August then hired the Four Despots of Imperial Capital to kidnap Jean. It was well-planned; it wasn't last-minute sloppy work. So, I don't think it's someone that you know."
"It's highly possible! You just came back and you told me that someone's after you, right? How could it be?" Benjamin glared at Zed.
"It's probably because of me," Zed said, undaunted. "I have just as many enemies as you do, grandpa..."
Jean was speechless. Were they really counting how many enemies they each have?
"You..." Benjamin wasn't happy. He was glaring at Zed.
"Grandpa, even if they did kidnap Jean because of you, with all due respect, what are you going to do about it?" Zed questioned Benjamin.
Jean tugged at Zed's clothes to tell him to stop.
Benjamin was already mad. Jean was afraid that Zed might just worsen the situation.
"Of course I'll turn over the suspect to the police and let them deal with it,"
Benjamin said proudly.
Jean couldn't believe her ears when she heard that.
It was a solution but a very simple one.
"Grandpa, I'm sure whoever your enemy is that he's powerful too. Do you think the police can handle such a case? Besides, you don't have any proof. They won't believe us based on hearsay,"
Zed argued.
'Well done!'
Jean was applauding for Zed in her mind.
Things were different back in Benjamin's time.
The way he used to work might have worked before but it might not work the same anymore.
Benjamin blushed out of embarrassment. "Well, do you have a better idea?" he countered in a coarse voice.
"Of course!" Zed responded right away. "I'll find out who the person behind all of this is in my own way and let the police take it from there. They'll get rightfully punished under the law."
Jean looked at Zed admiring
When her boyfriend betrayed her, all light and joy was gone from Cherry’s life. Deserted, bereft of hope, she married a man that she had barely met, but she had never expected him to be her ex-boyfriend’s uncle.
Cherry thought that she had finally found her happiness, but she had no idea about the dark secrets that were bound to unfold and haunt her forever...
to be there for him.
The only thing she could do for Zed now was to let him rest.
"Stop worrying, please. I'm safe now. Just rest, okay?"
"Okay, but you have to sleep too."
Zed reached out his hand and gently pulled Jean into his chest.
"The baby..."
"Don't worry. I'll be careful," Zed whispered to her ears and then pressed his lips on hers.
Jean initially wanted to let Zed rest alone but she couldn't resist him.
After a short kiss, Zed controlled himself.
This was not the time to make love to her.
He was exhausted. After a long night, his body just felt drained.
The only thing he wanted right now was sleep.
Jean looked up to find Zed had already fallen into a deep sleep.
She was relieved at the sight of this—a smile formed on her lips.
This man made her so happy and feel so loved more than she'd ever felt in her entire life.
Zed...
Jean reached out her hand and ran her fingers across his eyebrows, his lashes, his nose, his lips, those thin, sexy lips...
Many people said that men with thin lips were ruthless.
But Zed was different. Jean smiled and snuggled into his chest, feeling satisfied.
As long as she was with him, she would be the happiest woman in the world.
