Chapter 854 You Are Acting Strange

Jean's friendly invitation surprised Calvin. Nevertheless, he was able to compose himself and give a prompt nod. "Okay, I will," he said. "I'll be going now. Grandpa Benjamin, Uncle Sean, Aunt Jade... I'll visit you next time."

Benjamin, who was sitting on the sofa, nodded towards Calvin's direction. Simon and Jade, on the other hand, just silently watched Calvin leave.

As soon as Calvin closed the door behind him, Zed grabbed Jean's hand and led her to the bedroom.

Although Jean felt that it was impolite to leave right after dinner, she thought that Zed might have something important to say to her. As they made their way upstairs, Jean shot an apologetic look at Benjamin. Upon reaching their room, Zed closed the door and turned to look at Jean with a serious expression on his face.

"What's going on, Zed? You're acting strange," Jean asked, confused.

"Jean, after Kirk's wedding, can you go back to H City for a while?"

Zed asked, ignoring Jean's initial question.

This made Jean even more perplexed. Her brows furrowed, feeling as if something bad was about to happen.

"Did Calvin say something to you?" Jean asked. "I mean, when you said that you were going to head off to your room, he started off as well. He must have said something..."

"No," Zed interrupted, his voice stern and cold. "Kirk's wedding ceremony will be held soon," he continued. "After the wedding ceremony, I have a lot of business to attend to for Sky International. As you know, things are quite complicated now. I'll be busy with work, and might not have that much time for you. I really don't want that to happen, but there's nothing I can do. It's best if you go away for a while. After I handle the situation here, I'll come back to take you home."

Zed's plan sounded reasonable.

Besides, Jean understood why Zed wanted her to get away for the time being. Things had gotten complicated at Sky International, and the amount of problems Zed had to deal with was beyond his imagination.

But what did Calvin say to Zed to make him come up with this decision?

Zed had ever promised Jean that they would be together wherever they might be.

And now, Zed was telling her that he wanted her to go.

"I know I'll jus

When her boyfriend betrayed her, all light and joy was gone from Cherry’s life. Deserted, bereft of hope, she married a man that she had barely met, but she had never expected him to be her ex-boyfriend’s uncle.

Cherry thought that she had finally found her happiness, but she had no idea about the dark secrets that were bound to unfold and haunt her forever...

tion, he wanted her to go away and face everything alone by himself.

What happened that made him behave like that?

Zed had always been calm and composed when faced with any sort of problem, but today he seemed out of it. It was definitely not the Zed she knew.

Jean bit her lip as she took out her phone and made a call.

The phone rang several times before it was picked up. A familiar voice came. "Jean, it's you. I thought you have forgotten me after you went there to Imperial Capital..."

"Moore, tell me, from what you personally know..." Jean interjected.

"Do you think that Zed tends to panic and gets reckless sometimes when faced with trouble?"

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "What happened?" Moore asked flatly.

"Did he call you today?" asked Jean.

"... Yes," replied Moore, hesitating.

"What did he say?" Jean pressed.

Moore kept silent, and Jean could only hear his breath from the other end of the phone.

"Moore..." said Jean in a soft voice. She was now extremely calm. "You might have guessed why we came to Imperial Capital... Things are worse than we thought. I'm Zed's wife and I don't want him to hide anything from me and let him carry his burdens alone.

Although I can't do anything to help, I want to stay by his side to accompany him and support him. I don't want to leave. No matter how hard he tried, I won't leave."

There was much determination in her voice, but in her heart, she was really scared to know.
