"Okay," Jean nodded. After Sean disappeared from her sight, she sighed.
She thought about Sean towering over Elizabeth in rage. The idea almost scared her to death.
Fortunately, she managed to persuade him not to do anything too brash.
This was also the first time she realized that Sean also had a little bit of a temper. He was not as calm as he seemed.
She heaved a heavy sigh again. Suddenly, her phone rang.
It was Zed. A big smile appeared on her face. "Zed..."
"Sorry, Jean, I was too busy to check my phone. I see you called me just now. Is something wrong?" Zed asked.
"Everything is fine. I just got bored and I wanted to hear your voice. Get back to work, honey. Don't worry about me. I'm just hoping you could come home early and spend time with us," Jean said sweetly.
"All right. I will go home as early as I can," Zed replied lightheartedly. He was glad to know that everything was okay. He sounded very pleased
and Jean noticed. 'Thank goodness!" she thought.
If it weren't for Benjamin, she might not have been safe enough to be able to see Zed tonight.
What if she were kidnapped again? ...
Jean did not even want to think about it.
Bearing Benjamin and Sean's words in mind, Jean swore not to leave the house no matter what. Doing that would put her in so much danger.
After hanging up the phone, Jean went inside and smiled bitterly.
She had looked forward to going to the Imperial Capital. Now, she was here but she was still stuck at home like a prisoner.
'Never mind, ' she thought. She would endure this for the sake of Zed and their child.
She had faith that Zed would be able to handle things well and find out who was behind all of this.
When that happened, she would finally be able to go wherever she wanted.
With this in mind, Jean smiled with joy. She finally had a pep in her steps again.
She was about to enter the living room when Jade rushed up to her. Anxiously, she asked, "Where have you been, Jean? I couldn't find you in your room. I was so worried!"
"What happened, Mom?" Jean asked, confused.
Jade looked as if something terrible just happened.
"Oh, nothing serious, thank god. It's just that Zed asked me to keep an eye on you for the next few days, and to remind you not to leave th
Jean Wen sacrificed herself for family interests. Before her husband divorced her, she made every effort to please him.
"You are inexperienced in bed," he said coldly.
"You! Give that land to my family, or I won't agree to divorce," Jean replied furiously.
"Fine. It is exactly what I am thinking about," he sneered.
t Jade would be.
"Okay, I promise I will stay away from Sara," Jean said reluctantly.
A part of her believed that Jade was right. It was best if she stayed away from trouble.
If only it were anyone else, she would have obeyed Jade's request without hesitation. God, why did it have to be Sara?
If it weren't for her, she and Zed would never have had to go through all this trouble. Nor did Zed have to go to the company before dawn and come home at midnight.
What was worse, she knew that there was nothing she could do about this.
Fighting or confronting Sara for being such a hateful woman was no longer an option.
She was a lady, after all.
She didn't remember ever fighting with anyone.
Hearing Jean's promise, Jade finally relaxed. She held Jean's hands and said, "I always knew you were a good girl, Jean. I apologize if anything I said offended you. Please understand. I just worry."
"Mom, it's okay. I know you mean well. I was kidding. I'm not going to be stupid enough to go straight at Sara and get myself in trouble. You know I'm not like her," she replied. Jean gave Jade a big smile.
Hearing this, Jade nodded happily.
"Uh, Mom?" Jean started, suddenly realizing something. In a low voice, she asked, "Did you hear what specifically Uncle Simon and Aunt Sara argued about? "
"Uhh..." Jade searched her memory. A few seconds later, she shook her head. "I heard they were talking about Sky International but I didn't listen in long enough because I was busy looking for you."
