Zed took the pen, wrote his name on the paper and said, "No matter what, please save my wife! Please keep my wife safe!"
Jade wasn't happy about the decision. However, she didn't say anything, upon Zed's insisting. Jade walked back to the waiting room and said something to Sean.
Zed's face was long. He tightened his fists, leaned on the wall and stared at the emergency room.
Nurses came in and out with blood bags in their hands. Every one of them looked very serious. Zed, Jade and Sean couldn't help but feel the tension.
Two hours later, the doctor finally came out the room. His forehead was sweating. He removed his glasses and looked at them seriously.
"Doctor, is the baby okay?" Jade walked up and asked hastily.
The doctor frowned. He responded, "I'm sorry. We did our best but the baby's gone. The mother is in critical condition too."
"What? How is my wife? Is she going to be okay?" Zed grabbed the doctor's arm.
His eyes had turned red with anger.
"Mr. Qi, please follow me," the doctor said. He led the way for Zed.
Jean still wasn't awake. The nurses had already transferred her to the ICU.
In the office
The doctor spoke in a serious tone, "She's in critical condition. The surgery took a toll on her. I don't think she can take the bad news. I'm afraid of what will happen if she finds out her baby's gone. Your best option is to transfer her to a better hospital preferably out of the country once she stabilizes. I can refer you to a few good ones I know."
Zed was overcome with grief. He couldn't even imagine how difficult it must be for Jean.
She was in the operation room by herself. She had gone through a caesarean section which was relatively easier than regular labor. She still wasn't awake. She still didn't know that her baby was gone and that was probably the most painful thing a mother could ever experience.
Zed managed to collect himself. He had t
“Do you still want to run away after what happened last night?”
Their relationship changes overnight. She tries to keep her distance from him, while he comes closer and closer.
Spoiling her, he gives her everything she desires. His only wish is to keep her around. The whole world is envious of what she has.
“Never rush in a relationship,” she says calmly.
stated. She carried that baby for eight months. That was her baby. She loved that baby. She planned for the baby to come out so she could take care of it and love it.
She had bought the baby a cot and toys and everything. She was ready for the baby. How could this happen? She couldn't believe it.
She sobbed, and she sobbed. She sat on the bed limply, feeling desperate.
"Jean, please eat something..." Zed said as he tried to feed her some soup.
Jean kept her mouth shut.
Zed knew she would be upset. However, he didn't expect that she would be this devastated. He couldn't do anything to take away her pain. He had never felt so helpless before.
"Jean... You told me that you were going to spend the rest of your life with me. Do you remember? We still have a long life ahead of us! Can you please take care of yourself? We promised to be with each other forever," Zed whispered into her ears softly.
Jean looked at him tearfully. "You don't know what it's like! You don't know what I'm feeling! That baby was a part of me! We spent eight months together. I carried that baby with me for eight months. I felt that baby move inside me. You don't understand! You'll never understand! I don't want to see you right now. Just go away! Go away!"
Jean cried out.
