Chapter 1012 Hess's Explanation

Hess looked at Julie in surprise. When he saw a waitress coming up behind Julie, he hurriedly said to her, "Miss, is there anything I can do for you?"

Julie wasn't an idiot. She saw it in Hess's eyes, so she nodded and said, "Of course! I wanted to ask, what kind of explanation are you going to give me for what happened to me here last night?"

Many people knew what happened last night. Although Zed deliberately tried to hide from the staff what happened to Julie, it still got out. The waitress had caught wind of the gossip among the staff and seemed curious as to what Julie and Hess could be talking about.

So when she walked past Julie, she went inside a nearby room and left the door ajar. She leaned in so she could listen to what Julie and Hess were talking about.

Much to the waitress's surprise, Hess referred to Julie as his sister when no one was within earshot. He didn't sound very polite to Julie but judging on how Julie was talking to him too, they seemed to be actual siblings.

"Julie, you know that I only want the best for you. Whatever I do, trust me, it comes from a good place. Besides, wasn't it you who couldn't seduce Zed? He even ran away!"

This irked Julie. She said coldly, "Don't you dare talk to me like that! I just talked to Mom. Why did you tell her what happened to me?"

Hess instantly turned hostile when he realized that Julie was blaming him for what had happened. He glanced at her then said, "How dare you blame me? Mom always wants to know everything. She wouldn't stop until I told her what happened."

Julie already had a pretty good idea what was going on. She tried to hold her anger back. She said, "So you chose to betray me? I did everything for this sorry excuse of a family! All you two ever did was ask me for money! How dare you!"

Suddenly, Zed called Hess. Julie started to panic and told Hess not to say anything to Zed about

Hess was taken aback. He placed the tea he had prepared for Zed in front of him before he spoke, "I'm sorry, Mr. Qi. I didn't know this was going to happen. I've looked into it and I think I have a lead."

"What I want to know is the truth, not some little made-up excuse, got it?"

Hess knew that Zed would drill him so he had prepared an answer. "Zed, here's the thing. After what happened yesterday, I looked into it. I think there was something wrong with what you two drank. It is a little strange though that the coffee and tea that you both drank were served at the same time and only Julie was drugged. I think Julie was the target all this time."

Zed remained silent the entire time—he just sat there as Hess explained. His theory was what Zed had thought of too. And Zed also had a perfect answer in his mind as to why the tea wasn't drugged.

"Is there anything else? Do you have any suspects?"

Zed asked. Hess couldn't figure out what Zed was thinking. He glanced at Zed and then said, "Well, I have one name in mind but I don't have any evidence and I can't figure out the motive too."

"Who?"

Zed was a bit surprised that Hess already had a name in mind and he wanted to know who it was.
