Ivy got ready and left Jamie's apartment. She went down in the lift and smiled at the security behind the desk before leaving the complex. She spotted her dad's Bentley parked up outside and the chauffeur nodded to her and she followed him to the car as he opened the door for her.
She saw her dad who was as well dressed as usual and wondered if her mum was still alive would they of attended these type of events together. She shook her head at the silly thought and sat beside her dad.
Hi, daddy".
"You are being good tonight then".
"Always".
Ivy gave her dad a reassuring smile and headed to the event together. He used to moan about her style but he's given up even mentioning it now.
"Thanks for coming with me. Your mum would be happy to see us together".
Thinking of her mum again she smiled, she was beautiful. She died when Ivy was young, her dad did love her mum, they said it was an accident but Ivy was not sure.
He misses her now still after so many years and never had another lover after. He always said he couldn't replace her and he didn't want too. For a serious man, he cared for his family. He raised Ivy by himself, of course, he was always busy with the company so it allowed Ivy the freedom to learn things. He thought the things she wanted to learn were too dangerous like fighting, rally driving and hacking. But her grandpa helped her find the right tutors.
They arrived and Ivy got out, she linked her dad's arm. She was proud of him and his accomplishments. They go inside and Ivy takes a glance at all the pretentious people making small talk and she hopes that she can leave soon. She spots the guy that was with the hottie approaching them.
"CEO Hughes, CEO Adler would like to invite you and your daughter over to chat".
Oh, king Yama himself invites us over, the joy Ivy thought sarcastically.
"Oh yes please".
"This way".
Ivy goes to escape but her dad holds her arm. Walking over Ivy can see her nemesis from earlier today. She can see she has no better fashion sense now than she had earlier. She had a red dress on, it was too short and so low cut that her cleavage was spilling out. Ivy then sees she is trying to get Noah's attention, it's a bit annoying. Wait why am I annoyed?
Noah has his deep brown eyes on her and Ivy smiled back at him.
"CEO Adler, nice to make your acquaintance".
Ivy's dad bows his head and Noah nods back.
"Who is this?".
"Oh yes, I am sorry this is my beautiful daughter Ivy".
Ivy's dad nudges her forward and she dug her heels in the floor as if her dad was sending her as a sacrifice to King Yama.
"Hi".
Ivy gave in and answered the man's questioning look.
"You weren't at home".
"No".
Ivy says a little guilty. Did he want to bring me here? Ivy would have still refused.
"Do you know this woman Noah, today she was very rude and stole my dress. She's now wearing it. You must seek justice for me".
Ivy rolled my eyes at the woman's rude comments, who was rude. Not me she thought.
"It looks stunning". Noah says smiling at her.
"Wait she was rude to me Noah".
"Get lost".
Noah gritted out a response but didn't take his eyes of Ivy.
"But Noah, you know my father".
"Leave". Noah reply's in a deep, dark sexy voice.
She runs away, probably to cry Ivy thought.
"I think you broke her heart".
Noah just stares back at her.
Secretary Aiden bows to Ivy's father and hands him a business card. They exchange pleasantries.
"Sit".
Ivy responded to the man's demand and sat down, he was making her a bit nervous. Ivy noticed the whiskey on the table and lifted it and drank it in one go.
"Sir I'll get you another".
Aiden had panicked when he saw what Ivy did, but Noah didn't seem like he cared.
"Mmm".
Noah keeps his eyes on her and she watched as secretary Aiden brought him a new glass of whiskey. Then Ivy looked up and saw her friend from the gym she smiled at him.
"Thomas".
"Hi Ivy".
"Small world, how's your stomach?".
Ivy leaned over and hit Noah's arm forgetting that it was King Yama sitting beside her and not Jamie or Pierce.
"I got him today in the boxing ring".
"It's ok".
Thomas said looking a bit sheepish. He goes and stands behind the sofa.
Ivy looked back at Noah. He hadn't taken his eyes off her, she wanted another drink. But didn't dare lift his glass again.
"Sorry I wounded the big guy".
"He deserved it I'm sure...If your father is CEO of Hughes industry's why are you a waitress and living in that small apartment?".
"I like to keep a low profile".
"Mmm."
He takes her hair and pushes it behind her ear. She knows she is blushing and she was annoyed at herself for allowing this man to make her blush. So she looked at her dad.
"Dad we should go say hello to other people".
"Mr Hughes I'd like to get to know Ivy a lot more".
She turned her head back to Noah she couldn't believe what he had just said.
"Certainly it would be her pleasure".
Thanks, dad, sell me out she thought but didn't say. She supposed sitting here is better than mingling with the others.
