Ivy shook of her memories, reminiscing was not good for anyone, it is better not to live in the past but live in the now. Shaking her head she walked into her office which was on the right, no one noticed her or Thomas. Her office was open plan and gave off a relaxing vibe. It had floor to ceiling windows, a white leather sofa, a coffee table, colourful paintings hung on the white walls and in the centre was a large brown mahogany desk which had a laptop on it. Ivy pointed to the leather sofa.
"Thomas you can relax here today, I have to see what has been happening to the company for the past two years." She smirked on her way to her desk as she sat down and turned on her laptop. It was better if she could look into the company before she was noticed by her father or Cole.
Thomas sat on the leather sofa taking in the environment, it was the opposite of Noah's grey and black office room and it felt more relaxing here. But then that was Ivy warm. He sat back and played with his phone while Ivy did her thing, he smirked at the drama that was about to come. He texted Noah to let him know her plans.
(Ivy is at her father's company Hughes Investments, she took back what is her's boss)
Thomas then sat back and played a mobile game, he could get used to this he thought. Sitting here was much better than the usual things Ivy got up to, everyday was different and he has been kept on his toes.
Ivy waited for her laptop to turn on, this place had many good memories as this was her father's company. She and her mother would come here to pick up her father from work and then after university she had come here to work and she did prosper quickly and was able to secure many deals and mergers for her father which gave it the boost it needed at the time. She ran her long elegant over the laptop as the light turned on and her desktop loaded up.
Her fingers tap and click in the quiet room, she looked at the company's current projects, shares, mergers and stocks. She frowned at the results she had found, Cole had made reckless moves within the company. After the projects, she had started then finished the company's worth and stocks declined thereafter. There was no excuse Cole was irresponsible and had no right to sign off any projects in her father's name. She was livid, she opened her messenger app and sent a message to her trusted secretary.
(I'm back)
She received no reply but seconds later the door burst open. Nathan opened the door, he was dressed immaculately in a grey suit with a baby blue shirt and tie. He smiled warmly at Ivy, closing the door quietly he walked forward, seeing Thomas stand and appraise him he didn't hesitate he proceeded to her desk. He was overjoyed to have his intelligent and amazing boss back.
Ivy looked over at Thomas to let him know that it was okay, seeing her give him the nod Thomas sat back down but didn't return to his game instead he watched the interaction between the two.
**FLASHBACK**
Nathan had met Ivy five years ago, he had lived in an orphanage and when he turned eighteen he lived very poorly and worked many jobs just to make ends meet. One night he was working another late night job when he was robbed by a gang, he sat slumped in an alleyway, he felt like giving up on everything. He had no one to rely on, his paycheck for the month was gone.
Where would he live? How can he afford to eat? He gripped his knees in despair curling in on himself, he never felt so lost and alone. Would anyone notice if he just didn't go home or work? He was just another number in the world... No one would notice if he was gone.
He felt a small hand on his shoulder and when he looked up he saw her beautiful face, enchanting eyes and a warm smile. He glanced up in disbelief, why is she touching my shoulder? The girl then proceeded to grip his shoulders as she helped him to stand, he leaned against the cold, wet alleyway wall and it gave him a slight wake up call. The girl still stood there staring at him, she was dressed in a tailored burgundy pants suit and although she was young she looked worldly. His words failed him as he felt lonely looking at her.
"What's your name?" She looked at him warmly as she asked.
"Na Nathan... Nathan Edwards." He stuttered as his voice was hoarse from the beating.
"I'm Ivy... Nathan, what happened to you?" She looked him up and down showing her concern.
"I was mugged of my last paycheck." Nathan looked away embarrassed that he had been mugged.
"Do you need a lift home to your family?"
"I... I have no family and with no ay check I can't pay my rent." Nathan scratched his nose, he was ashamed of his life so far. He felt he had nothing and would never be anyone.
"Come with me." At her words he looked up in disbelief and his feet moved forward as he stared at her back, she was small and frail-looking but her eyes were strong and her posture was elegant.
He had followed behind her unsure what would happen to him but at this moment he felt anything was better than the way he had been living over the past few years. She led him to her car and he followed in after her, on the journey he had told Ivy about all his jobs and his past, she listened to him. He felt bad for complaining as he was sure others had it worse than he did, but Ivy listened and allowed him to vent his troubles.
