Chapter 126 - Dead Wrong

Noah stood in his office looking out over the Cities skyline, the sun had set and the night's sky was dark and the moon was now high in the sky. Noah's had his arms folded and he had a permanent scowl on his face now since he had left Ivy. He had things to do but he missed her.

"Sir?" Aiden called out.

Noah glanced at his secretary standing next to him. "I have your schedule here" he heard Aiden announce.

He nodded his head before turning his attention back to the City skyline. Since he lost his interest in the view, he reached out and took the tablet from Aiden. His inbox was flooded with emails from his subordinates but he was only interested in reading one. Teo's email was the first he searched for and opened. The mail was just sent to him from Teo.

Tapping the mail open, Noah read through Teo's detailed report. Ivy had reached the mansion he had bought for them, and the security was already in place.

Of all places, he hadn't thought that Ivy would choose the mansion that he had bought but they had never moved into. He knew Ivy liked the place but he thought his lover would prefer somewhere more exotic. Most would ask for an expensive or luxurious holiday but not his lover. Ivy did seem to enjoy the trips they went on together so he had assumed she would want to go on a holiday of her own, she liked to explore and travel around new destinations.

Noah wasn't complaining of course. The location was perfect, considering only a handful of his subordinates knew he had bought the mansion. With his approval, Teo had recruited another three guards as the mansion was rather large. Aiden had also increased the number of guards around the property, making the place a virtual fortress.

As for Thomas, he was feeling uneasy, "Boss, Ivy's schedule has been cleared for a week."

Noah glanced up from the tablet and nodded at Thomas. Thomas bowed but he looked somewhat hesitant. "Thomas, speak."

Thomas nodded and scratched his head. "Boss, pardon me for asking, why wasn't I given the duty to guard Ivy? I have always been by her side"

"This is Ivy's wish," Noah flatly replied as he lifted his whiskey glass from his office desk and brought it to his lips. He knocked it back in one go. "Are you concerned about Ivy's safety?"

"Yes, sir." Thomas nodded frantically, he and Ivy had a special bond now and he saw her as an annoying sister so of course, he worried.

Noah knew what was running through Thomas's mind. With danger looming around her, it was natural for Thomas to head the security team rather than leaving Ivy's safety Teo who was relatively new at the job. Noah couldn't agree more but Ivy had made it clear that the only condition she would follow Noah's orders was if Thomas went with Noah for his safety.

"Are you not confident with the team that you've picked?" Noah questioned.

Again, Thomas scratched the back of his neck. "Boss, I have full confidence with Teo and the team. Forgive me for asking."

"Ivy is concerned that only Aiden is accompanying me for this trip. She somewhat thought it'd be better that you came along." Noah answered.

Thomas looked surprised. "Boss, your skills are by far the best I've ever seen and if anyone should be worried about safety, it should be Ivy herself."

Again, Thomas was right but since Ivy had begged nicely, Noah found it hard to resist. "It's not a bad deal. As an exchange, she promised to stay in the mansion and cooperate with Teo and the rest until our return."

Aiden coughed lightly interrupting, "Considering how Ivy doesn't like to cooperate normally, it is indeed a good deal."

And good behaviour needs to be rewarded, Noah thought. "Aiden?"

"Yes, sir?" Aiden replied quickly.

"When we come back, transfer the mansion and land titles into Ivy's name." Noah's lips curved slightly. Ivy would be upset with his pampering her with gifts. But who else should he gift if not his lover?

The secretary smiled. "Certainly, Sir." He quickly took the opened bottle of whiskey and refilled Noah's glass. "Although I can say for certain that Ivy would not appreciate the gesture."

"She certainly won't." And again Noah's lips curved up slightly, he couldn't wait for her reaction.

She will hate it. Noah mused as he sipped the Malt whiskey—but that was also why he couldn't stop himself from heaping presents on his young lover. Ivy wasn't like the others. His past flings wanted everything while Ivy demanded nothing. It might be arrogant of Noah to think so but he was fairly certain that the only thing Ivy ever wanted was Noah himself and like her all he wanted was Ivy.

He thought of Anna and his mood darkened again, he scowled and furrowed his eyebrows. Downing the Malt whiskey in a single gulp, he stared outside the window and over the vast city in front of him.

Anna, you messed with the wrong person. You're dead wrong if you think you can take Ivy away from me.

No one could separate them, not even death. Noah didn't believe in the supernatural but if he did he was sure they would be together even in the afterlife and the many other lives ahead of them.

Noah fixed his suit and lifted his jacket and put it on as he then made his way to the door of his office. Not looking behind him he announced, "Let's go."

Aiden quickly picked up the tablet from Noah's office desk and followed behind his boss.

Following suit Thomas strode out and opened the door for Noah to exit his office. All three of them had a long night ahead of them and they needed to stay sharp and alert. After all, Anna hasn't held back in her schemes up to now. She seemed to solely focus on Noah as her objective. Thomas didn't feel sorry for her, her actions had led her to this point.
