"It is just a small headache. Dr Stewart said that it would be normal after being poisoned. Besides everyone gets headaches, it is not as bad as it could have been. Did you read Dr Stewart's report? Never mind you are too busy anyways it was scary, to say the least. So where should we go?" Ivy tried to change the subject, she didn't want to worry Noah and also bring up any negativity.
Noah looked at Ivy sceptical and sighed, he knew he was getting blown off and she didnt want to talk about Dr Stewart's results but they had to talk sooner or later. Noah being a man of action decided it was now or never, he rubbed her smooth hips and asked, "So if you read Dr Stewart's report what do you think of his findings?"
Ivy's heart sped up this was a conversation she was dreading to have, "Do you mean the part about having children?"
Noah saw her inner turmoil, what was she scared of? He continued to rub her hips in the hope that it would soothe her and stop her from taking off, "Mmm… Do you want children?"
This was a huge decision in life and a topic they had never discussed together, Ivy was happy with the status quo at the moment. She left because she was too young to have kids but she supposed she should know by now if she wanted them in the future.
"What if we both want separate things?" Ivy glanced away and asked.
Noah smiled, turning her head to face him, "We won't."
His statement was without question yet she couldn't help but ask, "What if we do."
"It's not possible, I want you and I want you to be happy, it is up to you if we have children. If we find out you can't and you want children I will make it happen and if you don't that's fine too." Noah replied simply and for him it was an easy decision. His life was Ivy and no matter what happened he wanted her to live how she pleased. He would go to the ends of the earth for her and he hoped she knew that and she wasn't doubting their connection.
"So if we never have children you're okay with that?" Ivy raised her eyebrow and questioned Noah.
"Mmm," Noah replied honestly and to him, it was Ivy's choice. It was her body that would change and go through childbirth, not his.
"Do you not have to raise an heir to pass on your empire too?" Ivy asked, they were now having the discussion that she dreaded and yet he talked like he was sure of everything.
Noah chuckled, "You have been reading too many fantasy romance novels. It doesn't have to work like that and I don't plan on retiring any time soon. If I want to leave my company to someone I will find someone suitable when the time is right." He had seen too many unhappy wives being forced into having a child after child just to raise a son.
"Well then to answer your question, I'm not sure what I want yet. What about you?" Ivy had not given it any thought but she wanted to know what Noah wanted for their future.
"You have always been more than enough for me Ivy, you ignited a fire in my heart that will never dim so in answer to your question all I need is you."
Ivy beamed, Noah's confessions were rare and precious to her heart, "I love you too." Like Noah, her confession was simple yet it went straight to the other's heart and fed their soul.
Unlike others she was never afraid of his darkness, she only feared losing him. She didn't fear the demons that danced in his eyes as they danced with her own. He wasn't CEO Noah Adler to her, he was her twin flame in this lifetime. How could she deny such a strong connection of love and trust?
He thought no one could ever love him once he revealed what was inside but she had shown him time after time that she would only embrace what lurked inside and not run or cower in fear from him.
"Now that that is settled how about we go to one of my clubs to celebrate." Noah kissed her neck trailing up to her chin.
"Mmm, not one of the old man's bars where they just pick up lonely young girls please," Ivy answered, her breathing impacted by his butterfly kisses. He was being so gentle.
Noah pulled her forward and bit her neck lightly and released her once she heard a slight noise from her, "Naughty." he said as he gazed into her eyes.
Ivy rubbed her neck, she had spoken too soon the beast was back. But she was thankful that the hard conversation was over for now. She supposed in a few years they would revisit the topic and decide then so for now they were back on track. "Sorry I meant not one of your businessmen's clubs please."
"Let's go," Noah said and picked Ivy up and helped her to stand in front of him.
"But I'm not dressed." Ivy looked down at her home clothes, she didn't want to change.
"What you're wearing will be fine, we can use my private office," Noah answered before holding her hand and striding forward.
Ivy nodded and they left the penthouse together hand in hand. They greeted Aiden and then Aiden took them to a club that Ivy didn't even know was one of Noah's. It was called The Vixen. There was a long queue outside but Aiden had driven around the back and they were escorted inside by some bodyguards and then Aiden led them up to an office.
"Would you like a drink Ivy?" Aiden enquired.
"Whiskey please," Ivy answered as she glanced down at the dancefloor.
Noah took off his jacket and placed it over his chair before sitting down at his desk, "I will have the whiskey and she will have a coke."
"Okay, Dad." Ivy huffed and sat down.
Noah smirked, "You can scream daddy later all you like but for now let me work for a bit."
Ivy rolled her eyes, "As if."
