Chapter 11 Mystery Gift

Leena did all that she could to make herself happy and have their first date a success. But, while she was walking with Miguel, she realized that there was something weird in her relationship with Miguel. The two of them acted like couples but they still didn't know what the other wanted.

She knew what he liked and disliked, but he had a habit of forgetting hers. He often made her speechless, though. Because she didn't want to ruin the mood that they had, she had to smile. Plus, Miguel probably just wanted to make her happy. He always insisted on buying things for her but she kept on refusing. She felt that there was a difference between what the two of them thought of as a good relationship. Miguel always wanted to buy her something, but she thought the emotional communication was more important. She preferred his actions to his gifts.

All of these thoughts and ideas were suppressed inside of her, however. When she had finally returned that evening, she couldn't help but feel depressed. "So… how was your date today? Please let me know. Tell me, is it special for you to date a rich guy like him?"

Leena took a glance at Rena. She thought about not saying anything to her but suddenly realized that it wasn't a good idea to hide it from her best friend. "Rena, When you were together with Jimmy, have you ever thought that maybe you two weren't a proper match?" Leena asked.

"What are you talking about? We're discussing about your date right now, not me," Rena replied, refusing to even give her comments on the matter.

"Yeah, we're talking about my date. It's just that I don't think Miguel and I have a good understanding with each other. It's like he doesn't even know what I like or what I don't like."

"What happened Leena? You seem pretty upset about it," Rena inquired.

Leena sighed and started to open up to her about what happened. After hearing the full story, Rena's blood began to boil. "How could he make a mistake like that? It only means that either he has amnesia or he doesn't really care about you!" said Rena.

"How is that even possible?" Leena felt surprised and had to explain her thoughts on the matter. "I mean, he has good memory. Well… at least at work, and he even left a note saying that he loved me back then. It's impossible for him to not care about me at all, right?"

Rena had to interject. "Wait!" She then shuffled to the bedside and took a notebook from the shelf. After flipping over a few pages and scanning a few lines, she read the text out loud. "Rule of Love No. 57: When a man can't remember your habits, unless he has amnesia, it only means that he no longer loves you!"

"What? What are you talking about? And where did you get that book?" Leena furrowed her eyebrows and was furious.

"This book contains theories on romance that can help you." Rena walked closer to her. "It's high time for you to pay attention to your boyfriend. There's something wrong with him!"

"No, there's nothing wrong with him. We just started our relationship a few days ago and he's sincere to me. I can see if he loves me or not…"

"You can see? But can you feel it? Can you see through a man's disguise? You can only feel love with your heart. Did you feel it? Obviously, you didn't, because you were upset when you came back from your date."

"Don't do this to me, please…. This is the very first time I am in love with someone. I think I'm just a little bit unconfident with the whole idea of being in a relationship…"

After being silent for a while, Rena said, "Alright, I understand you. You cherish your relationship with Miguel so much that you'd give him another chance. But you have to pay more attention to what I said in the fu

ture! Don't imagine that things will be smooth from here on out, especially considering that you hadn't seen him for nine years. A lot of things would change."

In truth, Leena had met and dealt with more men than Rena. However, since she had never been in a love relationship before, she still had to go to Rena for advice in this respect. It was her first time in a love relationship and she didn't know what to do with it. Right now, she only felt that she loved him with all the intensity that she had and took it seriously.

The following day, Leena had received an unexpected and surprisingly large parcel. Opening the package revealed the monkey doll she had seen yesterday, and immediately she thought that the gift was from Miguel. However, when she tried to look for the sender's address, she couldn't find anything. Under the monkey's arm, she found a letter for her and read it. "The man who knows you the most gave you the best present that money could buy."

The letter claimed to be from one of the men who knew her well. She tried to think of the possible suspects but couldn't find any logical conclusion. Rena took the letter away from her and read it as well. "Wow! Who is this mysterious suitor?" She winked at Leena to tease her.

Leena couldn't help but roll her eyes at Rena. "How am I supposed to know who this mystery man is? Just look at it, no sender or anything! Besides, it could have been sent to the wrong person."

"No way, Leena. This is lady luck smiling upon you! Just think about it carefully. Is there any man who really cares about you lately?"

"No. Not a single man in the entire XX University would even dare to approach me. Did you know that?"

"Oh dear! Believe me, according to my gut feeling, you're gonna have a fantastic love story!"

"I'm already in a love story. I already have a boyfriend!" she replied earnestly.

"Miguel? You'll have to observe him. Pay more attention! Don't let him get you easily!" Rena scolded.

Leena ignored her comments and placed the monkey doll inside of her room, worrying what to do next with it. 'Who would even give me this and know that I like it?' She contemplated on it but still couldn't figure out the right answer. She had already checked all of the people surrounding her but she failed. Would it be possible that the monkey doll was bought by Rena secretly for her?

After reaching that conclusion, she took a glance at Rena. While Rena was busy examining the letter, she looked at Leena's eyes as well. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Leena was speechless and dismissed the idea that Rena was the mysterious sender. If it wasn't Rena, who could it be?

Since she still hadn't grasped the answer to her question, she just had to go to work instead. As soon as she had arrived at the Heaven Hotel, a waiter approached her and said that Carlson was waiting for her. She had to change her clothes and make up in a flash.

It had been a long time since the last time Carlson came to the Heaven Hotel. Last time she saw him in the school, she didn't want to be recognized by him. Then she felt much relief at the fact that he hadn't come to her for a very long time. She thought he had already given up on her but then here he was, appearing unexpectedly from out of nowhere. And for what?

After entering a private KTV room, Leena had to show a friendly smile at him. "Mr. Carlson! Welcome back! Why are you here?"

"I'm here for you! Of course!" Carlson said almost in a laugh after sipping from his wine.

Leena sat beside him with a smile. "Looks like you're in a good mood today. Is there any good news?"

"Well, it may be good news for you!" Carlson said as he winked at her.
