Leena didn't look at her mother when she spoke, but faced TV. But the TV was not on, so she was just facing the air.
Mrs. Yang didn't say anything, but she had already realized Leena's abnormality.
"There is a gap between you and me these days. I don't know why you hid the notebook. I don't believe you have destroyed it. Mom, you don't have to hide it from me. I already know." Leena turned to her and asked, "Did you go to see Daniel?"
Mrs. Yang was so surprised that she nearly dropped the newly bought dishcloth in her hand. She opened her mouth slightly and looked at Leena, unable to say a word.
"Mom, if you really care about me, please give the notebook back to me. I know what to do, but if you give it to someone else, it will really be disadvantageous to me!"
After saying that, Leena waited for a while, but she still didn't hear her mother's response. Disappointed, she stood up and said, "I'm going back to Carlson's house today, so I won't have dinner at home!"
Leena left. Before leaving, she had been waiting for her mother to say something, but her mother didn't say anything. She w
s right." Daniel nodded.
The waiter served the dishes. The two of them ate quietly, and no one spoke for a long time.
The two of them had their own thoughts in their minds. Seeing that Daniel was a little melancholy, Leena was not as sunny and cheerful as before. She couldn't help but think of the connection between Daniel and her mother and the notebook, so she couldn't help but ask in a cautious tone, "I heard that your cousin was taken away by the police. What happened? Will you help her?"
Daniel stopped eating and said, "I can't help her. It's too serious, but I know who did it. I won't let the person who did it get away with it."
Daniel said in a very light tone, yet in which displayed an invisible ruthlessness.
After thinking for a while, Leena put down her chopsticks and sighed, "Daniel, we are good friends, aren't we? We didn't have any conflict of interests or used each other before. Even if there is, we solved it peacefully. But now, I really want to ask you something. If I don't, I may hold it in my mind all the time and may not be able to treat you as before all my life."
