Hope has fallen asleep quickly despite the circ.u.mstances, we've been through, I slowly take the blankets off of me, and gently slide my way out of bed, so that I don't disturb the sleep, of Ellena and Hope, but alas, Ellena still managed to
wake up, says in a hushed tone.
"what's wrong?"
I reply by placing my index finger on my lips as I point at Hope who is sleeping, I then head towards the double glass doors that lead to the balcony, and I use my hand to signal her to follow me, she nods and slowly gets out of bed, we then
head out to the balcony and lean on the stone railing while standing side by side, c.a.r.e.s.sing each other's hand, as we stare at the stars in the night sky, after doing that for a few minutes in peaceful silence, Ellena then asks he same question.
"what's wrong?"
while still looking out in the sky, I answer.
"just wondering if it was the right choice to stay here, instead of running away together and disappear like we planned when I was in Burmendak."
she leans on my shoulder and replies.
"I don't know how to answer that, but the only thing I wanted was to be with you."
I think to myself, getting caught off guard with how honest she's being with her feelings.
"damn her and her sweet words."
but then I started thinking about, where would we go to live out our lives in solitude, and then a thought popped up.
"now that I think about, I never once asked where she and Hope were hiding at."
for some reason I wanted to remain ignorant on that, because I would feel guilty on how hard it must have been for them, but then I resolved myself and ask Ellena with a serious tone.
"I've never asked you this before because I was afraid of the answer. but where were you and Hope staying at to keep her hidden?"
she gives me a comforting smile and asks.
"is that really bothering you?"
I nod and she continues.
"while looking for some housing in the orc region, I ran into a small hidden community of half elves."
surprised by this, I think to myself.
"that's surprising to hear, I always assumed that they were completely wiped out during the purge."
I reply, relieved.
"it's good to hear that they weren't completely wiped out."
she then adds on.
"you know, I never thought that I would be relieved that half elves still managed to survive."
I ask in a teasing manner.
"because you blindly hated humans before?"
she answers, bothered.
"that was a long time ago, and besides my feelings about that changed after you."
I ask.
"even though I beat you and kidnapped you?"
she answers.
"well it was after that, when I saw you acting kind and considerate at times to me, when I stuck around on my volition and besides."
she pauses and as I look at her blushing face, she says embarrassed.
"I can't help but like strong men."
I then think to myself.
"the women in this world are really weird, every girl that I've beaten up in a fight has fallen for me."
after thinking that, I remember the time when me and Rosie first started learning magic together, when she found out about my limited mana pool and how useless I was in using magic, she would bully me to no end, until one time had enough and challenged her to a duel, and at that time she was strong with magic but didn't have good aim, and I used that to my advantage to close in on her and beat her using physical strength, and the the days after that duel, her attitude towards me changed, Ellena interrupts my thoughts by suggesting in a soft voice.
"you, me and Hope could just leave right now, and live the rest of our lives with that community if you want."
as I'm about to respond to her, a cold chill runs down my spine, and then I ask Ellena concerned as I turn back to our room.
"did you feel that."
not knowing what I was talking about she replies.
"huh what?"
following my instincts I run back inside into the bedroom, with Ellena following right after in confusion, and as she's about to ask me something, we both are frozen in fear as we see a hooded figure standing right next to Hope, looking down at her, and right as I'm about to say something, the figure turn to us and says.
"it's fine to speak normally, she won't hear a word."
I think to myself.
"wait I recognize that female voice."
Ellena loses her cool.
"get away from her, or I'll kill you!"
the figure begins stroking Hope's hair and responds calmly.
"oh is that so, but if you move from that spot, my hand might accidentally slip and hurt this little angel."
I take a closer look and also noticed that it was the same black robes that I saw earlier, and the same one that Abigail and Atlas wore, and I think to myself.
"it can't be Abigail though, she's dead. yes I killed her, I'm sure I did."
I began to panic when I made a sudden realization, once I recognized that familiar voice, my hand begins to tremble as I think to myself.
"no it can't be her, she also died."
tears start welling up, as I ask the figure with my voice breaking.
"Rosie, is that you?"
the hooded figure turns on the light, brightening up our dark bedroom, and then the hood comes down, revealing her identity, I collapse to ground crying with the sudden shock of who she was.
I cover my face with my hands and start repeating the phrase to myself while hyperventilating.
"this is not real, this a dream."
Ellena who's worried about me, gently hugs me from behind, trying to calm me down, but even then it couldn't help me face the reality, that Rosie is here standing in front of us, even when I witnessed her die at the hands of Abigail, Ellena then asks her.
"who are you?"
Rosie responds.
"oh did he not tell you, me and him were lovers once."
Ellena stutters.
"if this is about revenge, then you've chosen the wrong person to mess with."
Rosie replies with a slight laugh.
"I'm not here for revenge, I just wanted to have a little talk with my darling."
Ellena replies with a hint of anger in her voice.
"he's no longer yours."
Rosie ignores her and asks me politely.
"Collin, my love, can you please look at me."
I think to myself.
"get a hold of yourself, no matter what this person says, she's not Rosie."
I look up preparing myself for the worst, and once I saw her face, I knew immediately that it was Rosie, but something was off, she was pale, and she no longer had blue eyes, she instead had the same red glowing eyes that Abigail had, I wipe off my tears and ask her.
"I thought you were dead, what happened to you?"
she smiles and answers.
"I did die, but for some reason I turned into this."
I still couldn't comprehend that this is actually happening, Ellena then shouts.
"well what the hell do you want, foul monster!"
Rosie remarks.
"how rude."
she looks at me and answers.
"I just want to talk to darling, about something important."
I pleaded.
"okay we'll talk, just please don't hurt Hope."
she asked amused.
"is that the name of this beautiful child?"
as I nod, she squints her eyes suspiciously, and asks.
"darling, is this your daughter?"
me and Ellena nod in response Rosie then steps away from Hope, and as she does so, I ask nervously.
"so what do you want?"
she replies nonchalantly.
"well it turns out, that you killed a disciple of the vampire lord, Vernon, and because of that, he's woken up and is searching for the one who did it."
I asked confused.
"and who is this disciple?"
she answers.
"the one that you killed, Abigail."
I ask.
"but she's a vampire lord isn't she?"
she shakes her head.
"no it turns out that she was just lying."
I take a moment to take a couple of deep breaths as I take in all of this information, and then I ask.
"so why are you telling me this?"
she responds.
"because you're the love of my life."
she takes steps closer to me and continues with her cheeks puffed.
"even though I stull love you, It turns out that you've been busy since I've been gone."
Ellena clenches her fist in anger, seemingly wanting to attack Rosie, but I hold out my hand to stop her, and then reply.
"I appreciate your help."
she gives me a devious smile and says.
"well I still have more information for you, but it will cost you."
I ask, cautiously.
"what will it cost me?"
she continues smiling.
"nothing much, just a little bit of your blood, my darling."
I give her a serious look and respond while holding out my arm.
"alright, if that's all you want then go ahead."
Ellena watches angrily, as Rosie bites onto my arm and starts s.u.c.k.i.n.g on my blood, and then after a few seconds, I pull away and say.
"okay you got what you wanted, now tell me."
Rosie wraps her arm around herself, and begins m.o.a.ning in a very provocative way, as she says.
"your blood is so amazing darling, I might get addicted to your taste."
I snap my fingers at her and say.
"focus and tell me the information."
she gives me a disappointed look and sighs.
"fine I'll tell you, Mr. buzzkill."
she composes herself and continues talking.
"Anyways, Vernon recently found out that you killed Abigail and is now preparing an attack force to come and kill you."
after telling me that, Rosie makes her way to the balcony, and right before she leaves, she blows a kiss and waves goodbye to me, while Ellena watches furiously, I see this, and I make my way to her, I then hug her tightly as I whisper in her ear.
"running away to that half elf community, sounds like a good idea, right about now."
she hugs me even tighter and responds.
"yes it does, but what about that vampire lord who plans to attack you?"
I reply.
"your right, I'm going to share this information with the kings, and prepare everyone for this upcoming attack."
I then think to myself.
"I think I have an idea on where to go, but I shouldn't go by myself."
I then ask Ellena.
"can you get in touch with Klein and Gresnor?"
she smiles.
"yes I can do that."
I continue in my thoughts.
"good I'm going to bring them to the Dwarf region with me and have them grow in strength alongside me while the heroes and the elves focus on getting physically stronger on their own pace."
Ellena fidgets around with her fingers and asks.
"Collin are you okay, with what just happened?"
I respond with a reassuring smile.
"as long as I have you by my side, I'll be okay."
she smiles back as she closes the distance between us and gives me a kiss.
