Chapter 109 - Nuisance

A week has passed since I put them all through the new blood oath, and to my surprise they successfully became werewolves, even Klein was completely baffled that none of them died, Klein had told me a theory that may have something to do with me obtaining the silver eyes power, and I'm inclined to believe his theory since he's been a werewolf longer than me but, nonetheless we managed to teach them the process of transforming into a werewolf, and the drawbacks that come with being one. I slow down my pace as I wait for them to catch up to me, I think to myself.

"maybe I should implement some kind of punishment exercise on them, for falling so far behind me."

I jog in place, until they all finally catch up to me, gasping for hair, I then look at all of them and say

with disappointed tone.

"tired already, I guess I was wrong about all of you."

Selshruuk is the first one to say something, while still trying to catch his breath.

"Collin, this physical training you are having us go through, is unlike anything I've ever experienced."

he stops so that his breathing is under control and asks as he points at everyone else.

"listen you've got some unreal stamina, but you need to go easy on us. I mean look at them they look half dead."

I reply unapologetically.

"those damned vampires will not go easy on us, and I need you all battle ready quickly because we don't know when they will attempt to block out the sun."

Aktosh asks panting.

"is this the type of training that you always do?"

I answer showing no signs that of fatigue.

"yes I've been doing this ever since I got rejected from the magical academy."

Klein makes a comment.

"I know Collin's training regime can be harsh, but like he said, we don't have much time so we gotta push ourselves to the limit."

Gresnor says as he points at Celeste who his carrying Felnor's limp and exhausted body.

"this is too much for the kid, can we at least take a small break."

Celeste adds on.

"Master Collin, I agree with them, we should take a small break, and besides it's already dark out."

I sigh and reply reluctantly.

"fine, you guys rest, I'll continue the physical training on my own."

except for Klein, they all breathe a sigh of relief and reply.

"thank you."

Klein begins to jog alongside me, and asks.

"so do you still plan on helping me get silver eyes?"

I answer.

"of course I will, and even though I believe that your are strong enough to obtain it, I still want to take precautions and make sure your body is on top physical condition."

he asks.

"how will we know?"

I take off my shirt and chant.

"candle light."

I shine the light on myself and say as I show him my toned body.

"see how I have a six pack?"

I then flex both my arms and say.

"I want you to feel how hard my muscles feel."

he presses his fingers on my arms and abs, to see what I'm talking about, and asks.

"what the hell Collin are those really muscles?"

I answer nodding.

"yeah."

I then think to myself.

"then my previous assessment of humans in this world having access to powerful magic, stunted their muscle growth."

I put my shirt back on and say to Klein.

"alright we are doing another hour of running and then we'll call it a day."

after finishing our run, I carry Klein back to the old fort, where we established a short term camp, and see that Celeste is roasting a couple of desert Atrosts, an animal that resembles a lot like the ones back on Earth, I lay Klein down and sit around the fire, with everyone else who are looking extremely exhausted, I then ask Celeste.

"did anyone from the adventurer's guild locate any potential vampire nests."

she replies.

"nothing yet, but King Dave knows of our location and will send someone to inform us if any adventurer successfully find their nests."

I stare at the fire and reply sighing.

"well I guess we have no choice but to wait around until someone tells us when we are needed?"

she replies while checking the Atrosts to see if they are well done.

"It's better this way, since we shouldn't expose our true identities as werewolves to the public yet."

I reply agreeing with her.

"yeah well maybe after the vampires are defeated, they won't see any of you as some monster, but as brave warriors who helped stop the vampire threat."

She chuckles.

"imagine that, a bunch of monsters becoming heroes of the people for defeating other monsters."

I reply also chuckling.

"I doubt they will give us all the credit if that ever happens, and I also wouldn't want people seeing us as heroes either."

she asks.

"how so?"

I answer.

"well I don't want to be well known to the point where people recognize me when I'm just minding my own business."

she makes a comment.

"are you seriously not interested in becoming a hero of legend, if that were to happen, many women would be vying to become one of your wives."

I respond.

"sounds intriguing, but I'm into the whole multiple partners thing, that whole concept is weird to me."

she replies.

"that's a strange answer, normally those who have gained power and prestige, usually try to marry multiple partners."

I reply.

"I suppose, but I'm content, with just having Ellena, so I don't think I'll be able looking for any other partner."

she replies.

"but she's an elf, you can't marry an elf,Master Collin, our laws forbid it."

I look up at the night sky and reply.

"I wouldn't be so sure of that Celeste, I can already sense a huge change coming to this world of ours."

and right before she was about to say something to me Selshruuk interrupts.

"listen I don't mean to interrupt, but did you guys sense that?"

me and Celeste ask him.

"what?"

he answers.

"I used mana detection, and I have detected multiple signatures heading this way."

I ask.

"are you serious?"

he answers.

"yes and I suggest we prepare ourselves for it to be a potential enemy."

Aktosh, Klein and Gresnor stand up upon hearing Selshruuk say this, while I gently wake up Felnor,

he opens his eyes surprised and and asks.

"Collin what's going on?"

I reply with a low voice.

"we have detected multiple mana signatures this way, and we think it may be the enemy, so look alive kid."

he stands up and walks alongside us as we make our way to the entrance of the fort, where I tell everyone.

"I'm going to use silver eyes to see exactly what we are dealing with."

Selshruuk asks.

"how?"

I answer.

"with my silver eyes, I can see body heat from from warm blooded beings, and since I believe that vampires are considered undead, they don't give off any sort of heat signatures."

he replies impressed.

"ah I see."

I exit the fort through the entrance and chant to myself.

"silver eyes."

I look out to desert to see if there is any body heat, and I don't seem to notice any, but I do recognize some human like figures walking in the distance, I quickly head back inside and say to them.

"it might be vampires, so I need everyone ready for a fight."

they nod while I think to myself.

"hopefully it isn't a vampire lord."

I head back out, still using my silver eyes and I quickly make my way to their location, hoping to myself that they are just underlings looking to reestablish a nest in this fort, and as I arrive my assumptions of them being vampires was correct, they glare at me with their red glowing eyes, and I say to them.

"good all of you are nothing but a nuisance."

they attack me together, and I make quick work of five underlings, but except for one that I left severely injured, and she says to me.

"you dare attack us human, my masters will turn all of you into cattle once they have succeeded in blocking the sun."

I plant my foot on her c.h.e.s.t and ask.

"so tell me you vile vampire, what were you expecting to find here?"

she answers.

"you will get nothing out of me stupid human."

I come up with an idea and ask her.

"if I give you a drop of my blood, will you answer my questions?"

she becomes more cooperative.

"using my hunger against me, how low can you be filthy human, but fine I'll answer."

I ask.

"tell me how will the vampire lords block out the sun."

she answers arrogantly.

"obviously they possess powerful magic."

I then ask.

"what were you doing here?"

she replies.

"looking for potential nests."

I continue.

"where do they plan to use this magic that can block out the sun?"

she glares at me with anger and says.

"blood first or I won't answer, you insolent human."

I finish her off by stomping her head in.

"not a chance."

everyone finally catch up to me and then Celeste asks.

"what happened."

I reply.

"just some vampire underlings, they were looking for potential nests."

as they all stare at the bodies, I continue.

"well let's go back and get some sleep, we've got a long day tomorrow."
