Chapter 159 - Gravity Pull

We exit the portal, and we are hit with the thick cold fog and air that is coming down from the snow covered mountains, I look at Drulog and with my teeth chattering I ask.

"are you sure, they were around this area?"

unfazed by the cold air, he nods.

"yeah, if Gresnor remembered correctly, we should be seeing them."

we all then chant.

"mana detect."

after not detecting any signs if mana, Felnor points at the many footprints on the ground and says.

"you see this this? it looks like they were here, but it also seems like they have moved on."

Drulog then makes a suggestion.

"these mountains have many complex cave systems, maybe the hid in them."

I turn to Ying and ask.

"should we wrap it up here? or keep looking for them?"

he replies.

"we are already here, so we might as well do a small search in the immediate area, before calling it quits."

he points at Felnor.

"you cat boy, you're coming with me."

he then says to me, Drulog, and Selshruuk.

"and you two will go to another cave."

Drulog replies.

"you guys go ahead, I'll stay behind and be the lookout just in case they return or something."

I ask.

"you sure?"

he nods.

"yeah."

Selshruuk points at a narrow valley pathway and says.

"let's go in that direction."

we split up and head to different directions, I then ask Selshruuk as we make our way towards the narrow valley.

"do you think we'll find those cultist hiding in these mountains?"

he replies.

"I don't know, if they really did move on, then it wouldn't be hard to believe if they are long gone from here."

I sigh.

"then do you think it's a waste of time?"

he replies.

"maybe, but it won't hurt to look for them."

I reply.

"yeah I guess so."

he then points at a nearby cave.

"let's check out this one."

I nod and as we enter the cave, I say with my voice reverberating.

"let's just hope we don't get lost in this cave."

he chuckles with confidence.

"I don't think we will."

I ask.

"what makes you say that?"

he points at the human skeletons that looked like they have been crushed by a cave in, and says.

"well we can't go any further from here."

I reply.

"alright let's go to another cave then."

he crouches down to inspect the bodies and says to me.

"hold on, they have pouches on them, we should see if they have anything valuable."

I reply while turning my back to him.

"go ahead and do it if you want, but I don't want any part of desecrating the dead."

he keeps on searching their pouches and says.

"I'm just looking for things and besides there is nothing left to desecrate they are all bones now."

after a few minutes of him searching, he says to me.

"Collin, check this out."

I turn around and see him holding a spellbook with strange symbols on them, I then think to myself surprised that it is still intact.

"holy shit, that's a legendary spellbook."

he then chuckles as he notices my surprised expression.

"this cave must have been a dungeon that these human were exploring, but got killed by the cave in."

he tosses the spellbook to me.

"here this should have a good spell that you can use."

I shake my head.

"no I can't, you are the one who found it."

he laughs.

"that book doesn't work on my kind, so it's useless to me."

I look at the book and ask.

he nods.

"yeah, back in my homeland, we have collections of those books, for the very same reason that it doesn't work on us."

I ask.

"is there a reason why your kind collects them?"

he replies.

"we believe that there is a way to gain their power, but we still haven't figured it out yet."

I sigh and open the spellbook and read it out loud.

"Gravity Pull, it will f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y pull any living being with mana in the vicinity, within twenty feet fron the user."

after reading it, the spellbook disintegrates in my hands, and then Selshruuk says.

"that's pretty useful, pulling in living beings towards you."

I nod in agreement and then ask.

"did you find anything else?"

he answers.

"just a few healing potions, but nothing else."

I reply.

"alright then let's get out of this cave and check out the other ones."

we leave the cave, and explore the entrance areas of every cave we run into, so that we don't risk getting lost or getting killed by a sudden cave in, like the explorers we found earlier, and after leaving another cave, I say to Selshruuk.

"I think that should be enough for now, lets go back and meet up with the others."

he replies.

"I agree, if the cult was still here, we would have seen more traces of their presence around here."

we make our way back to the spot where Drulog said, he would wait for us, but we don't see any trace of him, we take another look around because we immediately detect multiple mana suddenly appear before us, I then say to Selshruuk.

"shit, get ready to fight, it might be the cultists."

I then think to myself.

"Ying and Felnor, where are you guys?"

Selshruuk looks around and says.

"damn it, there is no where to hide nearby."

we wait around hoping for the best, and then we spot multiple figures moving towards us through the fog, and then Selshruuk gets angry as we see Drulog approaching us, who is accompanied by many orcs and many members of the Cult, that have the ogre creature right behind them.

"that traitor set us up!"

I shake my head in disbelief, and I ask Drulog.

"what is the meaning of this? why are you guys walking side by side with them?"

while Drulog averts eye contact with me, a cultist member steps up and answers with a muffled voice.

"he is just looking for his region's best interest."

I reply as I point at Drulog.

"you will pay for this treachery."

the cultist member takes off his face mask, and reveals his identity to me, and upon seeing that it was Daurl's smug face, my blood boils with anger.

"what the hell Drulog, I don't know what kind of deal, you struck with him, but I'm telling you now, that you will regret this!"

I then point at Daurl and demand him.

"alright I have a feeling you know where Gale is at, so spill the information."

he doesn't answer, but that twisted grin on his face, tells me enough that nothing good happened to him, I clench my fists and chant with gritted teeth.

"platinum eyes."

Selshruuk knowing that there is no way of avoiding this fight chants.

"silver eyes."

but before attacking them, I hear Ying and Felnor's voice behind us.

"Collin!"

out of breath Ying asks as he looks at ths orcs and cultists standing together.

"what happened? I felt a bunch of mana signatures suddenly appear."

I respond.

"we have been betrayed, and have fallen right into their trap."

he then asks.

"so how should we go about attacking them?"

I reply.

"you're going to take on that ogre creature, and Selshruuk will handle Drulog and his orcs, Felnor will take on the cultists, while I take care of Daurl."

Daurl grins and asks.

"are you done talking and planning Collin? so that we can finally end this."

Felnor gets his cat claws ready and chants.

"silver eyes."

Ying unsheathes his sword and says.

"just give the word, and we'll attack."

I focus my attention on Daurl and shout.

"attack!"
