"Thank you for your contribution. Most of the reporters and cameramen parcelled their food and took it home. The rest is for everyone here to enjoy," Qian Meng stated.
The team cheered and thanked their Boss.
Xiong Fen and the intern were the only ones who were still working at that point. "Boss, things are calmer now. Most of the comments seem to be turning towards Shi Yuhan."
Qian Meng nodded. "What was her reaction when I revealed that she was trying to shoplift?" Qian Meng asked the intern curiously.
The intern burst into laughter. "For the first couple of seconds, she was a blubbering mess. And then she started to scream. People in the comments were wailing and mourning that they had headphones in and they needed to go to the emergency room because their eardrums were damaged from her high-pitched noises."
Qian Meng allowed the intern to ramble on.
"But she kept saying it was all a false accusation. People were siding with her for a moment, but then you showed the video and the tides turned. Her face went white and then someone took the phone from her. The livestream ended just like that!" the intern finished.
It was either her manager or her boyfriend. "Well, that is understandable. By now, she should have the papers. Let's see her next move." She snapped her finger and turned to Xiong Hua. "Call the social media platforms Shi Yuhan uses the most and ask them to ban her for spreading malicious rumors."
Xiong Fen nodded. Doing this after the truth had been revealed was the best way to make her speak less nonsense. Let her make less fuss. Qian Meng doubted that Shi Yuhan's management would allow her to post any more for a while, but banning her from social media was a power move. It was completely legal when someone's guilt was irrefutable.
"I'll make it happen immediately."
"I have already spoken to HR. Your Comp-offs will be issued through your emails tomorrow. Be sure to send in the dates you want to take off with your immediate supervisor and have them sign off on it."
"Thank you, Boss!" everyone sang together.
"That was great work. Let's not talk anymore. I'll head home. Let's meet tomorrow and get a detailed view on the change in narrative and what the market and sales look like," Qian Meng said finally before standing up.
She rolled her sore shoulders and after giving one last smile to her employees strolled to her office.
Li Min was already at her desk, talking on the phone. She saw Qian Meng approach and nodded at her surreptitiously. She hung up the call and stood up to greet Qian Meng.
"Boss, I spoke to Li Jun. Everything is in order. There is no need for us to worry about it anymore. The remaining team will monitor the advance. We are going to block out any malicious comments now that the public eye is not looking at us critically."
Qian Meng's face bloomed. "Sorry, neither of us get vacations for this. But for now, let's go home. I need to sleep on my bed for a change."
Li Min snickered as she saw Qian Meng pat on her back and grumble about her body being that of an eighty-year-old lady.
She emerged out of her room after a while with big bags in her hands.
Li Min blinked. "Did you move your house here?" she asked quietly. Qian Meng stopped and sighed. "I had food delivered from home every meal. Then there were clothes, towels, and everything else. I was practically living here," she explained.
"Boss, I forgot to ask you… where did you shower all this time?" Li Min squinted her eyes suspiciously.
"You were sitting beside me for all these days. Did I smell?" she questioned. "I showered at the gym. I have a membership there, remember?" She rolled her eyes. "Always so suspicious."
Li Min shrugged. "Just making sure you are minty fresh when you go home."
"Okay. I need to run. I want to get home and comfortable." She moaned and she hastily walked out. She had already called a cab and found it waiting outside the building entrance.
She slid in and placed all her bags before slumping into the seat and closing her eyes.
Finally, some peace.
She didn't even notice as the time flew by and she was already in front of the home. Oh, how she missed it. She strolled in like a queen and dumped all her baggage in its rightful place.
The house was not brightly lit so she had to call Mo Qingchen.
"You aren't home?" she asked. She knew there was a high chance he wouldn't be. But that didn't mean she wasn't disappointed. Even she could hear the pout in her voice.
"No. I'll get home really late today. I have a dinner to attend," he explained. "By the way, you looked beautiful on the television. I was cheering for you," he teased.
She snickered. "Thank you, Mr. Mo. I feel tired so I will freshen up and then try to catch some sleep," she told him lightly.
"Okay. I'll join you in bed later tonight. See you," he greeted warmly. The thought made her skin flush. She sighed before hanging up and looked around the big and empty bedroom.
Time to freshen up and get some rest. The war would continue again from tomorrow morning.
But her plans fell through. She ended up relaxing. But not resting.
When Qian Meng was in a mood to design, it was because she needed to relieve stress. And she usually was lacking sleep from overwork or a little drunk. The recent events had really given her a run for her money. She slung her arm over the lounge chair she was laying on, her drawing tablet in hand as she thought about how to place a certain stone in her ring. The position was comfortable and for a second, she really just wanted to gaze at the stars which vividly twinkled in the clear night sky.
