"Yes. Make it anonymous. And give him enough incentive to ensure that the shares are sold." She placed this expectation on Li Jun because he was capable of doing it. He maneuvered such things with ease.
"My name is easily associated with you, so I will ask my Merger and Acquisitions expert to do it in my stead. Rest assured, the result will be the same if I had done it myself."
Qian Meng hummed in agreement. "I shall leave it to you. There is a deadline, though," she added calmly.
"Deadline?" Li Jun sounded surprised.
"Yes, do it within tomorrow afternoon. Before Yun Sui Bo finds a way to come out of his office," she said firmly.
"Noted."
The conversation ended and Qian Meng texted Yun Qing Yuan about the idea presented by Li Jun.
The reply was instant.
[Where and when do I sign?]
Qian Meng smiled and shook her head.
She typed out her response quickly.
[You need to understand the whole process before signing. Get on a video call or meet Li Jun. Then you can sign.]
Though she was in a hurry, she didn't want her brother to grow up and think that she had used him too cruelly and without regard for his opinion.
[Okay!]
And it was set.
An impromptu meeting at Li Jun's office happened at five that evening. Qing Yuan wanted to shoot forward and finish the process right after his class ended.
He entered Li Jun's office, his backpack looking heavy. He saw his sister already seated and gave her a blinding smile.
"Sis, you're looking really tired today!" he joked.
"But still pretty beyond belief," she countered in a similar tone. "Sit down. We have to talk."
Li Jun leaned forward and produced the paper. He went through each and every article in the POA papers, explaining the law jargon and its implication in full detail.
At the end of an hour, Qing Yuan breathed out a tired breath.
"Do you have any doubts about anything?" Li Jun asked patiently.
Qing Yuan shook his head. "It sounds good to me. I don't understand investment so having Sis take care of this one in my stead is a huge relief," he explained. He squared his shoulder. "Where do I sign?"
The process was quick.
Li Jun already had the notary officer on standby.
"The other request you made is well underway. You should get the final result tomorrow morning," Li Jun said just as the brother and sister were about to leave.
Qian Meng nodded and thanked him.
She turned to Qing Yuan. "Are you going home now? I will drop you off," she said casually.
Qing Yuan shook his head. "I am going to stay at the hostel for a while. I don't want to be home at such a time," he said with a shrug.
"I'm sorry for this," she apologized again.
"But you aren't sorry about what you are doing," Qing Yuan claimed. Qian Meng raised her brow in question. "I know you feel sorry for dragging me in, but you aren't sorry about what you are putting Father through. I don't fault you for it." He looked towards the ground.
"Sis, I like you more than the other people in my house. So, don't worry about my opinion," he said in a small voice.
"Then let me drop you off at university, okay?" she insisted.
He nodded. "Your car is low-key, so no one will find out who I am," he commented.
Qian Meng was shocked. "Are you hiding who you really are at college?" she questioned.
He nodded. "You fought to create your own identity in the industry. And I know how imposing dad can be. I want to live my college life independent of how I grew up." He had to think about what he was going to say next. "I don't want to live in the shadow of my father's reputation… or yours."
Qian Meng understood what he was saying without being offended. He was a young man who wanted to stand on his own two feet and make his name without the influence of his family. She was the same when she was younger. She wouldn't fault him for wanting the same.
"I understand. My car is widely used in the country. At most, people will think you have a very pretty older sister," she said in a smile. She ruffled his hair as they walked into the parking lot.
From the corner of her eye, Qian Meng saw the familiar car and frowned.
She couldn't allow this information to leak to her father yet. She shielded the man's view of Qing Yuan and led him into the car.
She pulled out her phone and texted Li Min.
[Make sure my father doesn't receive any emails. Especially pictures of what I am doing today.]
Li Min, who saw this message was perplexed for a second before realization dawned on her. Her boss was being tailed and she had met Qing Yuan. To protect her brother and to blindside her father, Qian Meng needed Yun Sui Bo to be cut off from all movement outside his room.
[Mr. Yun doesn't check his mail himself. I will try.]
Qian Meng was not reassured. She had cornered her father, he might start doing things he usually doesn't do. So, she fiddled with her thumb as she spoke to Qing Yuan.
He was excited about his classes and chattered insistently about the people he met and the things he learned.
Until graduating high school, he hadn't taken such a keen interest in studying. He did it because he had to. But now that he had found a subject he found himself enjoying, he studied because he liked it.
Qian Meng watched the happy gleam in her brother's eye and felt the tension slowly seep out of her body.
There was a reason she was working so hard and part of it was this boy who was growing up too quickly.
She found herself hugging him tightly before he slid out of the car. He looked surprised but didn't say anything.
"Invite me over to party with brother-in-law. I miss him!" he insisted before sprinting past the university gate.
Qian Meng sighed and looked at the sky. After all of this was over, she would try to bring Qing Yuan to a place where he felt more secure.
