Qian Meng stared for a beat longer before she pulled out her cellphone. "He was taken to the hospital?" she questioned.
Li Min nodded. "The secretary called me to tell me that Mr. Yun was taken to the hospital because he fainted. The media was already outside. We can expect stories about him fainting from exhaustion or having a heart attack from shock coming out in a few moments," she said quickly.
Qian Meng nodded. "As expected from Mr. Yun. He used the most expected method." She smiled at Li Min. "Don't worry. Let him get admitted to the hospital. Let everyone and the shareholders know that he is unwell. Even the employees need to know."
Li Min frowned. "But the popular opinion…" she trailed off.
"This isn't a battle of popular opinion. It's a matter of the employees and shareholders. I can use my reputation to clear up misunderstandings in a bit. Right now, let the news of him being sick run. Let's see how long he can pretend and get away with it."
She smirked.
"Aren't you going to visit Mr. Yun?" Li Min asked after a moment.
"I will," Qian Meng chirped. "When Jiang Xin calls me to act like a virtuous wife."
Li Min stared at her Boss for a second before nodding.
"Ah, before you leave. Please send over all the papers with proof of Jiang Xin illegally buying shares of Venus. Every single detail. Make two copies. Put one folder on my desk and give the other to Li Jun," she instructed.
"I'll collaborate with Li Jun for the rest," she said freely.
Li Min nodded and went out. As she closed the door to the office, she realized what those papers were for.
Her boss was going to use it as leverage. She never thought her boss would blackmail others. It would surely be a sight to behold!
As Qian Meng had expected, Jiang Xin's call came an hour after her father had reached the hospital.
Qian Meng picked up her cellphone and pulled it to her ears, waiting for the pretend sobbing to begin.
"Meng'er…" she started. "How have you been?" she asked.
Qian Meng cleared her throat. "I am busy with work. Do you mind getting to the point?" she countered, leaving no room for pretense. As much as she wanted to see this woman act, doing it at a time when she needed to take action did not suit Qian Meng's taste.
"You… have you watched the news?" she asked after a sniff.
"Ah, yes. I have. What about it?" Qian Meng questioned firmly. She felt a small smile crawl up her lips when the other stopped breathing for a second.
"You know your father is in the hospital but you didn't rush over?" Jiang Xin asked with a gasp.
Qian Meng almost sniggered, knowing that Jiang Xin was emphasizing this point because she was sitting beside her very conscious father. It was an attempt to infuriate him against her.
Probably because she had a guilty conscience for selling her shares, she was pushing all the attention towards Qian Meng and avoiding suspicion.
Qian Meng rolled her eyes.
"Yes. Is there an issue?"
Jiang Xin missed a beat before responding slowly. "Your father's health is deteriorating. The doctor spoke to me but I couldn't understand much. Can't you come over and talk to the doctor on our behalf?" she asked.
Qian Meng could almost imagine Jiang Xin looking at Yun Sui Bo from the corner of her eyes to check his expression.
"I will come if your husband pleads me to," Qian Meng said boldly. She wanted to see how far they would go to meet her face to face. Yun Sui Bo must be scrambling to meet her at this point. He had been desperate enough to use a low measure like feigning a serious illness to get out of a protest.
Jiang Xin stumbled to mention this to Yun Sui Bo, who had already heard the words coming from the receiver. His eyes blazed with anger.
"Tell her that if she doesn't want to look like an unfilial brat in front of the media, she will come to me!" he barked.
Qian Meng snickered.
"Meng'er—" Jiang Xin started, but Qian Meng cut her off.
"No need to relay his words. I heard them clearly. Tell him not to faint from anger again. What is this an ancient harem drama?" she joked maliciously.
She hung up the phone without ceremony and collected her things.
She peered out of her office and saw Li Min monitoring the news.
"How is everything on the media front?" Qian Meng asked slowly as she neared Li Min's table.
Li Min looked up. "It's polarizing at the moment. Some news agencies are accusing employees of intentionally mistreating the executives and President Yun. Others are pointing out the timing and saying that it is not the fault of the employees who are protecting their own rights."
Qian Meng hummed as she thought about it. "Don't let it get too biased on any side. I need my father stuck to the hospital bed in fear of being reprimanded," she claimed.
Chaining him to a location that was not his office was a good thing. If he was in the hospital feigning illness, he wouldn't be able to take work calls. He needed to follow the act until the end. In this way, she could imprison him in his own plot.
"Boss, you are going to meet him now?" she asked, looking down at her watch.
"Yeah. I'll call Mo Qingchen and ask him to leave some food in the oven. I don't know how long this conversation is going to take," she sighed.
Li Min stood up and nodded. "Have a safe trip," she called as Qian Meng walked away.
Qian Meng waved over her shoulder and walked out of sight. The bodyguard stuck to her side until she slid into the car.
"The car is still following us," he said after a couple of minutes on the road.
