Chapter 299: Planet Katrov

Now that Khal understood the Ancient Tounge and was able to read, he browsed through several books in silence and learned quite a lot from them.

First of all, he learned that he was currently on a planet called Katrov, which was located in the Outlax System that was in the Berserkers' possession.

Of course, this was not a surprise for him. Thanks to the Records of All Realms, Khal understood that when one ascends into the next Realm, they will be teleported into a random location. If one was lucky they will automatically find themselves in a city with great surroundings, but there are also occasions where one gets teleported into the middle of the wilderness where creatures were waiting in the shadows!

Khal was neither lucky nor unfortunate when he ascended. Although he was teleported into a forest where creatures lived, it was a territory where only beasts on the lower stage existed, so he was saved from trouble.

As for the city, it was named the Crimson Horn City and was located in the eastern part of the planet, far from the capital but close to one of the many space stations.

Reading through the many books, Khal got a clearer understanding of his situation and leaned back into his chair to ponder.

After many minutes of silence, Khal opened his eyes and stood up before bringing the books back at the female Berserker.

"Thank you very much." Khal thanked after handing back the books together with a gold coin.

"Sir, you don't have to pay." the female Berserker looked shocked and was about to hand the gold coin back to Khal before she was stopped.

"Please, take it. I can't just leave when I have used something that is not even mine," said Khal calmly.

"But knowledge is no one's, everyone has the right to learn it freely."

Khal remained silent before smiled and pushed the female's hand back together with the coin, "Then consider it as a gift for helping me."

"But..." the female Berserker wanted to refuse Khal's offer, but found it with surprise that Khal has already vanished from his spot, as though he was not even there a second ago.

'...'

Khal walked on the streets, inspecting everything around him with keen eyes. Naturally, he still felt the old man's eyes on him, so he decided not to leave the city yet, but prepared a few things beforehand, just in case the old man wanted to cause trouble for him once he chose to leave the city.

First and foremost, he went to eat in a nearby restaurant. Once he ate his fill there for three gold coins, he went inside a shop where technique scrolls were on sale.

Although he had Moonshadow in his possession, which alone was capable of killing several Body Refiners into shreds, he wished to leave it as his ace, using it only when he was in danger.

Of course, he could always improve his Secret Arts to a higher level, but as now his bracelet was not functioning, he couldn't. But even if it would have been functioning, he wouldn't waste his time and essence to strengthen them as they now could be considered as trash in the Second Realm!

While Realm Level Secret Arts could be considered as the peak at the First Realm, they were only the weakest among all the Secret Arts in the Second Realm to the point where no one even bothered to learn one!

As a fact, from the Second Realm on, Secret Arts get to called as Martial Techniques which are categorized into different Grades, such as Mortal, Earth, Heaven, and Celestial Grade Techniques with Mortal being the weakest and Celestial the strongest.

Furthermore, each Grade is further split into Low, High, and Peak levels, each stronger to a degree than the one below them!

And because he has yet to learn a Realm Level Secret Art back in the First Realm, Khal could be considered a complete no one with no cards up in his sleeve except his Talents, a ridiculous amount of Essence, and Moonshadow.

That is why, he must learn at least a Mortal Grade Technique to at least have the chance to escape if he was unfortunate enough to meet with an opponent he was incapable of defeating.

Entering the building, which seemed to sell many scrolls, Khal looked around before walking up to the desk in the front where an old Berserker stood with a stern look.

"What do you want, kid?"

Ignoring the lofty tone, Khal glanced at the scrolls on the sides and asked, "How much for a Martial Technique?"

"So you are a newbie, huh?" The Berserker immediately realized that Khal was an ascender and a wide but foxy smile appeared on his face.

"Two hundred Gold Coins for a Mortal Grade Technique, two thousand for Earth Grade Techniques, ten thousand for Heaven Grade ones, and twenty thousand for a Celestial Grade technique."

Khal remained silent and frowned. The price for the Martial Technique seemed rather high and unreasonable no matter how he looked at it.

Seeing that Khal was not speaking nor showed any reaction, the Berserker sneered coldly and crossed his arms before his chest.

"What? Do you have no money, brat? Then why did you come here in the first place? Scram now or I wi-"

Whoosh!

With a quick gesture, Khal summoned his Devil Fangs into his grasp and placed it right before the Berserker's throat.

Feeling the coldness around his neck, the Berserker's face paled and his body froze up into an ice sculpture, fearing that if he dares to move even a single inch, Khal will cut open his throat in seconds!

"Who do you try to fool old fart? Even a retard would see through your shitty lie easily with that foul smile much less me." Khal said coldly and made sure to press his weapon slightly against the Berserker's throat.

The Berserker felt as his body began to sweat profusely and began to stutter quietly, "I-I... P-Please... T-This little one was wrong... P-Please, forgive this little one... I-If you spare this little one's lowly life, I swear I won't lie again. Hell, I will even give you one Martial Technique for free!"

Khal was silently examining the Berserker's face to see if he was lying, but as he was on the point of almost fainting from sheer fear, he knew what he just said was the truth and he won't try to scam him again.

"You are way too kind. I accept your offer." Khal smiled after a while and removed his weapon from the Berserker's throat.

Feeling as the cold blade was no longer pressing against his skin, the Berserker sighed with relief but soon gritted his teeth and stared at Khal with hatred.

"What? You have a problem?" Khal narrowed his eyes as he noticed the hostility coming from the Berserker and raised his hand slightly, indicating he was ready to slice his head off at any moment.

"!?"

The Berserker froze up once again and felt cold sweat soaking his entire back, hence why he quickly shook his head and forced a kind smile.

"N-Not at all. Come, let me show you the best Martial Techniques my shop can offer to Young Master! I am sure you will be intrigued!"
