"Have you figured out the culprit?" Mai Qi asked.
I shook my head. "This is too strange. If I'm the only one being implicated, then it's understandable, but to pull you into it? Do they not know your identity or they just don't care?"
Mai Qi shrugged. "Who cares. Once I find out who is behind this, I'll make sure they'll regret ever being born!" Mai Qi growled.
The cruiser stopped at a quiet path. Su Qian gestured for us to get out. Su Shen drove over with her car. We got into Su Shen's car and the officer drove the cruiser back to the station.
Mai Qi sighed in relief when we were in a familiar car. She punched at the cushion. "I am so mad!" I knew she needed to vent.
I asked Su Shen. "Why did you guys take so long to get here? Did something happen?"
Mai Qi also questioned. "By the way, Nanxing, when we were arrested, our phones were confiscated so how did you contact Jing Tian? And how did my lawyer know about this?"
Su Qian turned over to answer. "Miss Mai Qi, we were watching when you were arrested. We immediately contacted Master Qi and Master Qi contacted your older brother. Master Qi was able to save Nanxing but he is not powerful enough to save you."
Mai Qi gasped. "So I am not the only one living under surveillance, you are too!"
I countered, "It's different. I'm being protected and you're being spied on!" I winked at Su Qian mischievously. Su Qian smiled.
Mai Qi turned to look back. "Where's Jing Tian and the rest?"
Su Qian said, "Master Qi needs to stay back to deal with the aftermath. He will make sure the reporters' focus is all on Jing Ning. The reporters came too suddenly so that is our only option." My heart warmed. Jing Tian was always there to protect me.
I called Tan Si.
"Brother Si, did you find something?" I asked.
Tan Si sounded serious. "Sister Xing, this whole thing stinks. Clearly, it is targeting you but this person doesn't seem to know you've gone to the nightclub to watch Jing Ning."
"That's right..."
"But I cannot tell if the other party really doesn't know Miss Mai Qi is with you or they just don't care."
"Yes, I have the same thought. Tell me who do you suspect."
"Shi Feng." Tan Si spat out the name. I didn't say anything. Indeed, Shi Feng was the biggest suspect. This was very much his style but I still felt something was not right.
If it was Shi Feng, he would not come after me when Jing Tian was still around. Plus Shi Feng knew the kind of person I was, he would have prepared something much crueler than this to deal with me. After all, he had already had me kidnapped once already. Compared to that, being scared by the police was nothing.
But the person pulled this off when Jing Tian was around. It was like they were purposely trying to make sure that Jing Tian was involved. But why?
Because Jing Tian would be disappointed when he found out I had gone clubbing. So the goal was to drive a wedge between me and Jing Tian.
A smile appeared on my face.
"Brother Si, where is Gu Yan?" I asked.
Tan Si was surprised but he answered swiftly. "Miss Gu is at home. Apparently, she is ill so she has been staying indoors."
That sounds about right!
