“Tsk!” I tutted.
“What’s the matter?”Jing Tian asked me.
“I was expecting some kind of story about some kind of powerful brotherhood bond.” I said with a smile.
Jing Tian glanced at me. “I really don’t know how your brain works. What is stored in there anyway?”
I chuckled. “Do you even need to ask? It’s all you!”
Jing Tian stopped talking.
“Jing Tian!” A pink figure stepped out of the crowd and practically pounced on Jing Tian’s arm.. I was stunned. This was Miss Gu Yan.
Jing Tian instinctively took a step back and gingerly peeled back the girl’s hands.
Gu Yan though wasn’t embarrassed at all. “Jing Tian, long time no see!”
Jing Tian nodded indifferently.
Master Ge Er and Master Wei Wu also walked towards us. “Jing Tian, here you are!” Jing Tian shook their hands and exchanged pleasantries. Then Jing Tian shuffled to stand on my little uncle’s side to avoid Gu Yan. Gu Yan’s eyes followed Jing Tian.
At that moment, I felt someone’s eyes on me, I turned around and realized it was Ye Qian. When she saw me, she immediately smiled and walked towards me. “Miss Nanxing, I hear you’re still in school?”
I nodded. “Yes, I’m in my third year.” I tried my best to calm my racing heart.
She was surprised. “Oh, so you’ll be taking the college entrance exam next year?”
I nodded again.
She smiled. “Then life must be very hard right, yes? I haven’t taken the entrance exam in China before. Miss Nanxing, I hear that you only sleep for 3 hours a day and study the rest?”
I answered evenly, “That’s just an exaggeration.” She showered me with her full attention. I finally understood why this woman was able to squeeze me out from the Jing Family in my previous life. She was the stealthy kind who would invade into your life. She used her ordinariness to disguise her intention. Those who were simple-minded would see her as a confidant due to her pure friendliness.
I glanced at Gu Yan who was still watching Jing Tian and smiled, “My grades are bad and I can’t catch up with school so it is my teacher who has been helping me with my revision.”
She was slightly taken aback. “Your teacher?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
“Like a tuition teacher?” She placed all her interest on me.
I shook my head. “No, he’s my teacher in life. But of course, I have other tutors to help with my homework too.”
She raised her brow with intense interest. “This is the first time I’ve heard of this. I only know students in China has many tuition but I have never heard of anyone having a life teacher. What do you learn from them then?”
It was indeed very comfortable chatting with Ye Qian She had this openness that made you want to open your heart to her.
I smiled shyly. “It’s nothing that special. I was too playful and my results were too bad so my uncle hired this teacher for me.” I kept my explanation vague to hook her along.
From her expression, I knew that she had already labelled me as a silly, and sweet young lady. In her eyes, I was ignorant, incompetent, and naive. I was lucky to have a rich background.
I figured I was the kind of people she hated the most. After all, she wasn’t the direct descendant of any big family, she was only a cousin to Gu Yan. Her status was similar to Li Tian. However, this Miss Ye was so much more calculative and clever than Li Tian.
Ye Qian smiled. “Looks like Mr. Tong is very strict with Miss Nan.”
I tilted my head to look at my little uncle, who was protecting Jing Tian. I smiled brightly. “Yes, my little uncle is strict because he doesn’t want me to embarrass my parents.”
I noticed that there was a unique tacit understanding between Jing Tian and my little uncle. With even sharing a word, they could understand each other’s thought.
But at that moment, Master Gu Er pulled Gu Yan over. “Jing Tian, you haven’t seen Gu Yan for years already, I’m sure you’ve already forgotten about everything that happened back then, right?” Master Gu Er then waved at me. “I heard that Nanxing was with you guys when you were young. She’s already so big now. So many years have passed, you must have forgotten about many things already.”
Ye Qian cut in at the perfect timing, “Uncle, I’m afraid I have to disagree. Gu Yan never forgot about her childhood friends. She often mentions them to me so when I saw Mr. Jing Tian and Miss Nanxing in person, I felt like I’ve already known them for a long time.”
My little uncle glanced at Ye Qian who responded with a perfect smile.
I shuffled noiselessly to Jing Tian’s side.
Master Gu Er chuckled. “Then that means you three are childhood friends, but Nanxing is still younger than the two of you.”
Master Wei Wu teased, “From Master Er’s tone, it sounds like you’re trying to be a matchmaker. But from what I heard, Master Qi and Master Si have never shown much interest in relationship so I’m afraid Master Er, you’ll be disappointed this time.”
