Chapter 146 - Proof (3)

The chubby man with a brown suit standing in front was the Jenam City Mayor, Jae Hyun. To the right of him with glasses was So Yanghyun, the head of the Security Department.

“And we have the new Vice President of Yongchun Group here also. It sure is a special day, Mayor.”

So Yanghyun spoke to the Mayor as he eyed Chun Yeowun and smiled. It seemed he was showing his friendliness to Chun Yeowun as he was being sponsored by the Yongchun Group. But Chun Yeowun’s eyes were gazing at the man to the left. He was Vice Mayor Mi Chuk. He had a pale face and a skinny posture, but he seemed well-built in places that looked very unbalanced.

‘Hmm.’

“Here, Come this way.”

The Mayor invited them inside of a separate room witin the Mayor’s room. Secretaries brought out hot tea on the table and returned to their desk. Jae Hyun then spoke up.

“So! What occasion brings you all the way here to meet with me?”

Jae Hyun, who seemed to be the type to talk formalities first, jumped right into the topic. The Mayor had a busy job, and with Gate Warning about to go off any day, there was not much time to waste.

“It is better for you to talk with my Vice President for that matter, Mayor.”

“Huh?”

Jae Hyun frowned. When he was asked to meet Yu Sohwa, he was curious about the people from Yongchun Group joining them.

“Did you say, ‘my Vice President’?”

“I am speaking to you as a secretary Vice President of the Yongchun Group right now.”

“A secretary?”

Three men from the city hall became shocked. It was unavoidable that they showed such reaction as it was the most sought after Gatekeeper Yu Sohwa, claiming that she had become a secretary of some individual.

“Wow… This is… surprising.”

That’s when Chun Yeowun flicked his finger and Bi Makhun placed the tablet PC over on the table. There was a document open on the screen.

“What is it?”

“Please take a look, Mr. Mayor.”

Bi Makhun answered and Jae Hyun curiously took it up and read through the document. As he read down, his face became shocked. Jae Hyun then looked up with a grim look and said, “This is a contract.”

The document was a contract, but it was the content that made the Mayor feel uncomfortable. Jae Hyun frowned, “You requested to meet with me to ask me to approve this?”

“Mister Mayor, what is it?”

So Yanghyun asked and Jae Hyun almost threw the PC at him. So Yanghyun, after reading through the contract, became shocked and spoke.

“You want the Yongchun Group to have a direct partnership with Jenam City to join the Gate Defense War instead of going through the Yulinian Organization or registering with them?”

Even So Yanghyun, who was friendly toward the Yongchun Group, was shocked by what was being proposed. This contract was asking for the Yongchun Group to join the Gate Defense War without being associated with the government. Since Yongchun Group was not registered as Yulinians, they were just keeping the city safe from within the wall when there was a Gate Warning.

“Look, Vice President. Do you truly think I will approve this proposal?”

All Yulinians who were registered had to follow orders from the Defense Department when they joined the Gate Defense War. By agreeing to this contract, it was going to allow the Yongchun Group to do whatever they want, going in and out of the Wall freely. Bi Makhun then stepped out to speak to the Mayor who seemed to be growing furious.

“Mister Mayor, that is not the purpose of the contract. If you see there, we clearly mention it being a partnership. If Jenam City falls into danger, we as the Yongchun Group will do our best to protect the city as a partner…”

That’s when Jae Hyun pushed the tablet PC and spoke with a furious voice.

“Don’t give me that bullshit. I can’t allow you to do that per the government’s order, and even if it is possible, a mere company has no power to protect our city from impending danger. If you really want to join the Gate Defense War, you should register yourself and join the war along with the Yulin Organization or…”

“Do you think we propose such thing without the power to do so?”

For the first time, Chun Yeowun spoke. It was just a few words, but it made Jae Hyun become silent. An unknown pressure came from Chun Yeowun, making Jae Hyun shiver in terror. It was the pressure of a supreme being. Chun Yeowun spoke to Jae Hyun.

“Mayor. Do you wish to see the proof of the power?”

“W-what the hell are you talking about?”

So Yanghyun intervened in shock. Chun Yeowun then turned to him and said, “Is it enough to prove my power if I kill all Yulinians and Gatekeepers within the city limit?”
