"It's good you're okay. Seji said since you gave him such a good fight he'll let you have rights to 'The Champ', but that he won your points fair and square so don't come looking for him again unless you have another 500 to put up," said the Satyr.
'So that's why Seji hasn't gained the collective ire of the masses,' I thought.
When he wins your points, he gives back the rights to whatever he goaded you into betting against him for. What a fucking troll! He never even cared about 'The Champ' one bit, but still scammed me out of 500 points over it!
Now that I was recovered, I grabbed Judgment and left the arena heading back to my quarters. I had to digest that fight.
Freedom & Destiny were returned to the Earthen World. I no longer required their services, so there was no need for me to carry them with me. A few people of the lesser races attempted to stop me before I left the arena, but I ignored them. This young devil lord didn't have time for idle chatter.
Right now I needed to digest my battle and then start working on alchemy. I sat on my bed and thought over the fight with Seji and how I could have possibly improved my performance. The first thing was having more knowledge of my opponent. Knowledge was power, I had no idea Seji practiced Curse Dao before fighting him. If I had known this tidbit, I wouldn't have been trapped by a quagmire when I attempted to face him in melee combat.
From now on when I face powerful foes I should scout their intel, otherwise, I could end up dead and not even know why. His final form was a hidden trump card, but I was completely powerless against it. The fact that I could fight and defeat his hulking form was amazing, but if that was a life or death battle, I would be dead.
I need to do more limit testing from sparring before I take on any powerful opponents. That one spar alone with a Battle Master did wonders for my battle insight. <Weapon Summon> was my trump card, I would use that ability sparingly from now on. After I break into Viscount, I should be able to summon even their sheaths through the void, giving me two mobile guardians. I will need to recast those weapons as well, so I will need to improve my Blacksmith Dao.
That is a problem for another time, for now, let's go start alchemy crafting.
I headed to the alchemy lab. Luckily it was completely clear tonight. There was no troll around to scam me out of my phallic points now. Tonight my goal was to craft a little light violet pill to treat my Aphalla's ED.
I started by grinding up the Pida Root as it was described in 'Alchemy of the Lost Ones'. To make a Tier-1 cultivation assistance pill core grinding up the Pida Root was the first step. The Pida Root was soon finely ground, prepared for crafting.
I slowly added in the Pida grounds to my pill embryo, to form the light-violet pill core. My Soul Essence made a very stable pill embryo, so there were no problems when I added in the Pida grounds. After about 20 minutes in front of me sat a pristine light-violet pill core. My first Tier-1 crafting ended without much suspense, I was a natural at alchemy!
I removed the light-violet pill core and let it cool on the side. I wasn't sure what type of drugs I wanted to form with it yet, I was still reeling from the shock I was such a natural with alchemy. Blacksmithing had taken some time to pick up, but alchemy came very easy. I could attribute a portion of my success to the fact that both blacksmithing and alchemy require flame control.
Flame control had taken me time to master in Blacksmithing, and I could use this knowledge when crafting pill cores. Tier-1 pill cores were the simplest to form, most only required one ingredient to be managed for crafting. I spent the rest of the night transforming my collection of raw ingredients into pill cores.
I faced no major hiccups working with the other ingredients. I messed up a bit when first working with the ability granting and longevity pill cores. The ability I granted was minor invisibility, I was very used to adding this ability to crafting from my work as a blacksmith. It was harder to add to a pill than I expected, but I wasted very few resources before getting the hang of it.
The longevity pill core was probably the hardest thing to craft, it required major changes in the temperature throughout the entire crafting. It was a Tier-1 pill core on the cusp of Tier-2 from my understanding, from all the temperature changes I had used to make it. If any temperature change was off the core would be a failure. After wasting my first two sets of material, I crafted the pill core on the third try.
Now that I had all the pill-cores formed and cooled, I collected them and headed back to my quarters to sleep. It was a good night of crafting, tomorrow I would go about converting these pill-cores into usable drugs. Drug concocting was usually left to an alchemist's assistant, since it didn't require as much technical knowledge as pill-core forming. Unfortunately, I was in a trial so I had no assistant to pass on this duty to, but it would be a sublime experience to make some drugs.
I was proud as I headed back to my quarters. This young devil lord was now an Orchid Alchemist, and it only took 1 night! Three more ranks to go and I would be out of this trial.
I wonder how my lovable kitten and my perverted ghost are doing? Hopefully, they aren't getting into too much trouble with me away.
If Soulless knew the unspeakable acts Jax was doing with while hoisting up his banner, he would cough up blood. He'd be proud of Jurrath's domination of those pitiful halflings though.
