(Arthur POV)
The days after Happy's birth were quite relaxing with everything going back to normal.
Great thing was that I had no visits from anyone unlike what I had expected.
The "Captain" definitely would have seen what had happened to his "oh so precious" spy and also my little threat for him to just get on with it and come here.
I've been on guard the whole time, using detection and clairvoyance in combination to find any hostile intent towards me or anyone else in Fairy Tail.
In the end what happened however…
Was that I mostly ended up detecting Gray and Natsu's and Erza and Mira's hostility towards each other…
Of course at a guild like fairy tail there were also other such cases, but not nearly as much as these two dynamic duos…
In the end a week passed since the spy incident and nothing happened, I kept my guard up obviously as it was too soon to do otherwise but I did start my training again.
Just wasn't as concentrated on it, so it wasn't as efficient as before…
As for other matters with the guild…
Natsu had grown very fond of Happy, just like what you'd think, and would spend pretty much the entire day with the little guy by his side together with Lisanna and at times others too.
(A/N: Also he's blue! da ba de daba da~)
Yeah, that's a terrible joke...
(A/N: Ehhhh?? I thought it was funny though! See? The song "I'm blue~ daba de da ba-)
I know the damn song! Shut up and get back to work you damn sluggard!
(A/N: S-Sorry... I'll get on with writing...)
Good!
Anyways, back on topic.
Time continued to pass and no threat seemed to be approaching, the captain seemingly didn't plan on coming at all and Zeref was still quiet too.
…
Up till this point I simply trained whenever I could, helped out my friends with their training and had sparring matches with Erza in the forest! She was steadily improving more and more at a rapid rate, I'm sure that she'll be able to use Lazarus in combat soon if she keeps it up!
The entire time I had detection and clairvoyance working together across a large area of dozens of kilometers, looking for anything hostile towards Fairy Tail over the weeks.
It wasn't as good as completely concentrating on my Arcane Domain training but it still was practical and helpful for training my magic control, mental capability and stamina.
Kinda.
As for an interesting thing that did happen on July 14th, well, let's just say that someone rather special finally joined the Fairy Tail guild...
…
(3rd person POV)
Around lunch time when everyone had gathered at the guild hall to eat together with their buds and discuss their day to day lives…
The front doors of the guild opened and a child wearing a dark blue cloak, mask covering his face and a forehead protector seemingly made of silver hiding the rest of his head with a bandana over his hair walked in.
He had bandages covering all his limbs and two staves on his back, ones that you'd consider Holder items.
That was Mystogan, one of the future S rank wizards of fairy tail, also known as Prince Jellal of Edolas.
Edolas is a parallel world to Earthland that pretty much mirrors it by having duplicates of each person, albeit the personalities and sometimes even race are different. Mystogan is the doppelganger of Earthland's Jellal, the one who Erza Scarlet is affiliated with.
"And here I thought we'd had enough weirdo kids already…" Wakaba commented while taking a whiff from his smoke pipe.
"Hey, don't be rude to the kid without first getting to know em." Macao said.
"As long as he isn't another brawler monster then I'm fine with it, hahaha!" Wakaba replied.
"I wonder what's up with the mask?" Ultear commented.
"Maybe he has a scarred face? Remember when Erza first came with the eyepatch, she had apparently lost an eye before the master took her to a doctor to have it healed." Lyon pointed out, raising his index finger while speaking.
"As long as he isn't like Erza I'm good…" Gray mentioned, still remembering the major ȧss kicking he received the other day when he challanged her like an idiot.
Again…
Makarov was sitting with his legs crossed on the counter like always, drinking from his mug of ale, once he finished drinking he looked at Mystogan and spoke. "What can I do for you kid?" he asked.
Mystogan stopped in front of him and spoke with a soft, quiet tone. "Are you the Master of this guild?"
"Indeed I am, do you need help with something, boy? Perhaps a job request? Or are you looking join up with the guild?" Gramps asked, leaning towards him from the counter.
"I need work, I heard that Fairy Tail was one of the best Wizard guilds around so I thought it would be a good place to look." Mystogan replied quietly.
"My, he has some confidence huh?" Cana mentioned, having walked up to the table where the trio of Ice wizards were at.
"He might be a strong mage, you never know. I mean look! He even has magic staves on his back!" Ultear pointed out while Cana sat next to her.
The now four members of the younger generation began speculating onto Mystogan's power level, not really getting anywhere with their theories.
Makarov then finally answered, "Indeed, we do hold the number one position in Fiore! Hahaha! However, are you sure you can live up to the name kid?" The master asked.
"Positive." Mystogan gave a straightforward answer.
"In that case why don't I test you?" Gramps said whilst raising his hand to the side, "If you can put up a decent fight against someone from our younger generation then you can join." He said with a smile.
"A sparring match then? Understood. Who do I have to fight?" Mystogan asked.
"Hmm…" Gramps mused with a hand on his chin, then looked towards Elfman who was playing with his Parakeet. "Elfman, where is your sister, Mira?" He asked.
"My sister? She went out to get groceries for the dinner we'll be having later on tonight, she should come over to the guild once she's done getting them home…" Elfman replied meekly.
At this time Mystogan simply stood silently in front of the old master of Fairy Tail, waiting for the Makarov to arrange everything for him.
…
You might be wondering, why Mystogan needs a test when everyone before him seemed to simply join without question.
Well the thing is, those other people were recommended for the guild by guildmembers! They had backing, Mystogan doesn't. Thus he has to show some kind of aptitude in order to make sure that he won't get himself hurt on a job if he's just some average kid.
Makarov couldn't sense magic coming from the boy after all, he needed to make sure that he was simply hiding it really well or had another form of doing his thing, mostly via Items as most people who've seen the original timeline would know.
After about ten minutes Mira finally walked into the guildhall, looking for her siblings and or Erza, it was then that the master called out to her. "Hey, Mira! Come over here for a second." He shouted from across the guildhall once he saw her.
"Master? What do you need me for?" She questioned, but walked over nonetheless, seeing the still waiting Mystogan.
She didn't pay him too much attention though, just a side glance and the thought. 'What a weirdo…'
"You see, we have someone here who would like to join the guild! But I can't have just any random member join without any insurance that they're capable now can I? So, why don't you spar with this here… I'm sorry what's your name?" Gramps said whilst turning back to Mystogan.
"Je-… It's Mystogan." Mystogan replied, making the name up on the spot just now.
He knew of Jellal and his crimes through some news articles that the council had thrown around, speaking about the current leader of an ever elusive tower that kidnapped innocent civilians in the past.
Now the people there work for Jellal, however the work they do is most certainly dangerous and worthy of being called the work of Dark mages.
"Mystogan… Right, so Mira. Why don't you spar with this here Mystogan?" Makarov finished what he was saying before.
"Hooh?" Mira mused, walking up to Mystogan and looking him over. "You don't seem like much of a fighter, you scrawny pipsqueak." She said with a glare, trying to intimidate him with some fighting words.
"And you don't seem much like a girl either, you tomboyish bigot." Mystogan replied calmly.
"What?!" Mira was shocked at the reply.
"Sheesh that must hurt." Macao commented.
"Hahahaha!" Wakaba and the rest of the guildhall laughed.
"Whoa… He's in for a beating…" Elfman quietly murmured.
"Whoa! SHOTS FIRED!" Cana yelled out while standing up and slamming the table in excitement.
She got so excited that she broke said table… Gaining the attention of everyone, who then proceeded to laugh at both Mystogan's comeback and her little mishap.
"Ah… sorry…" She apologized while sitting down on her still intact chair.
"It's okay, we can just have Arthur fix it once he gets here." Ultear patted Cana on the back.
"Yeah…" Cana replied meekly, embarrassed from her outburst.
…
At that comment, way further into the deep forests of Magnolia, Arthur sneezed while training with Erza which creating an opening for the young swordswoman that she used to close the never ending gap that Arthur was making between them during the spar…
'Did I catch a cold?' Arthur thought. 'Maybe I should start wearing a mask just in case…'
…
Back at the guildhall, veins popped on Mira's forehead as she turned red from the anger.
"You think you're funny? I was going to go easy on you but now you've done it!!" She yelled and threw a punch at Mystogan.
Mystogan dodged by weaving his head to the side, he then quickly made distance between him and Mira and took out one of his staves.
"Take it outside you brats!" Gramps yelled loudly, promptly stopping them both in their tracks.
"Right, I apologize Master." Mystogan apologized with a light bow.
"Tsk, fine." Mira reluctantly agreed, placing her hands on her hɨps and walking towards the back of the Guild. "Come on out back, I'll put your face in the dirt there..." She mumbled, still a bit irritated and feeling embarrassed from earlier.
"It's actually a sandy beach there tho…-" Gray began to speak, only to be abruptly cut off by Mira's anger.
"SHUT UP GRAY!" Mira turned around and shouted at Gray, promtly silencing the poor stripper.
The guildhall then all got up and walked with them outside, not wanting to miss such a show!
"This'll be good, too bad that Arthur, Erza and those two kiddos with the kitty will miss it though." Ultear mentioned to Lyon who was walking next to her and Cana together with Gray.
"Yeah, this will surely be interesting. That Mystogan guy managed to dodge Mira's punch after all!" Lyon replied.
"Mm… I just hope they don't hurt each other…" Elfman commented in a low tone, looking rather worried for the two combatants.
"It'll be fine, worst case I'll stop the fight before anything serious happens. Don't worry and enjoy the show." Makarov smiled at Elfman and looked back to the two fighters, now facing each other on the small beach.
He then walked up between them, preparing to start the fight.
"Hey Gray! What's going on?" Natsu called from behind the group of younger generation kids, to which they turned around and saw him, Lisanna and the little fur ball named Happy!
My, ain't he just adorable?
He's floating in between Natsu and Lisanna.
"Oh you guys are here! Great!" Lyon smiled at the pair with the cat.
"Why is my sister fighting again… Haaaa…" Lisanna sighed, seeing her sister facing off with someone on the beach infront of the group of people.
"Well, this time it's more official believe it or not. Gramps wants her to test a new member named Mystogan." Gray explained the situation briefly.
"Ooo! Nyatsuuu! Are they gonna faight?" Happy asked, still incapable of pronouncing words correctly.
But he could speak the language of Earthland after only a month of being born, ain't he a smart little catto?
"Yep, watch carefully now Happy! This will be fun!" Natsu smiled widely and moved in closer to get a better view.
"Aye!" Happy exclaimed and flew towards Natsu, quickly catching up and landing atop his head where his pair of wings poofed away and disappeared.
"Do you think my sister will go easy on that guy?" Lisanna asked.
"Eh, knowing her… Probably not." Lyon replied.
"Good luck to that guy…" Gray spoke.
"Hey, he could be really good! Who knows?" Cana mentioned.
"I sure hope so… Else nee-chan will beat him up a lot…" Elfman said.
"Anyway the fight is starting now, let's see what Mystogan has in store for us shall we?" Ultear said and everyone focused their attention on the beach where the fight would take place.
What they didn't know, is that they were looking at a man who would one day be one of the top wizards of Fairy Tail!
A future S class Wizard! Mystogan!
