Chapter 345 - Revisiting an Old Haunt, Swords Acting Strangely

When Zhang Che woke up, he felt refreshed.

He couldn’t help but lament, -Not having any dreams is the only way to sleep well, no matter if it is a pleasant dream or a nightmare.-

When he opened his eyes, the cave was still dark. The only source of light was the scarlet fiery illumination from the Scarlet Flame Drake’s body.

“Hmm?” Zhang Che suddenly felt something. He turned his head around, and he saw the frisky monkey carrying the snow lotus with both arms. His head was turned towards Zhang Che, his eyes filled with resentment.

This hardworking little thing actually didn’t move the slightest bit for the whole night. How tired must he be?

“Be good, I’ll have the Scarlet Flame Drake roast some meat to reward you later!”

Zhang Che felt greatly moved. It wasn’t easy to find such a hardworking baby nowadays.

After hearing about having roasted meat to eat, the frisky monkey’s originally sorrowful face immediately lit up. His resentful eyes even produced a resplendent glitter.

-Hmm, an easily pacified child, indeed. A roasted meat meal is all it takes to appease him.-

Zhang Che squirmed out of his sleeping bag, and started looking carefully at the snow lotus, still held up by the frisky monkey.

“Hah, this thing grows really fast!”

Zhang Che was incredibly surprised. Only a night had passed. The root fibers that were originally only a foot long had grown so long that they enveloped the whole spiritual jade.

“Zhizhi, zhizhi!” the frisky monkey immediately cried out when he saw the look of praise on Zhang Che.

-Ai, this honest child. The root of the snow lotus had grown so concentrated. Do you still have to keep holding it like that?-

As expected, when Zhang Che ordered the frisky monkey to let go of the snow lotus, the half-meter-wide flower remained erected on its lone stem, standing above the spiritual jade. There were no signs of it falling or tipping to the side at all.

The frisky monkey blinked a few times. -Was my work since last night for naught?-

Zhang Che didn’t pay attention to this honest child. He summoned the Purple Crystal Tortoise, freshening up himself with the water brought out from its spatial pocket. Afterwards, he brought out a few large pieces of exotic beast meat and skewered them with the ferocious beast’s bone spikes. He stabbed the skewers into the wall, then had the Scarlet Flame Drake breathe flames, cooking them.

Well, it wasn’t right to lie to a child, right?

So, Zhang Che immediately made good on his earlier promise, preparing a sumptuous feast of roasted meat for the grateful frisky monkey.

After eating their breakfast, Zhang Che walked out of the cave and set off in his intended direction once more.

The upcoming part of their journey had many more hidden dangers. The Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon suppressed his speed to a large degree, advancing only a thousand kilometers or so a day.

Three days later, in the afternoon, the outline of a familiar huge mountain finally appeared in his sight.

It was all thanks to the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon that they were able to find their way back here. He remembered the route they had taken clearly. If Zhang Che had tried to find his way here by himself, he would be at least a thousand kilometers off, straying off to God-knows-where.

Sometimes, humans were really no better than animals.

Sitting on the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon’s back, Zhang Che couldn’t help but lament when he saw that majestic mountain. “I’m finally back here!”

Over their several thousand kilometer long journey during the past few days, although he didn’t encounter any real dangers, there were quite a few scares.

The closest shave he experienced was encountering a group of high-tier gold-quality exotic bees.

Although those exotic bees weren’t very strong individually, and Zhang Che’s legend-quality babies could totally fight them in single combat, the other party wouldn’t agree to it! A wide spread of them came rushing at once, and not even the gods and devils would dare take them on!

Zhang Che was simply helpless when he encountered these unreasonable exotic beast groups that specifically used their numbers to crush others. In the end, he could only order the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon to fly faster, shaking them off with their difference in speed.

Even now, Zhang Che could feel his hairs standing on end when he thought back to it!

A group of high-tier gold-quality beasts in such frightening numbers were simply invincible in the beast world, unless they encountered an epic-quality exotic beast. Any other types of exotic beasts were doomed to become their food if they couldn’t run away.

“Bloody hell, looks like dangers are really lurking everywhere in the beast world. I can’t afford to get careless at all!”

Fortunately, now that he had arrived in the vicinity of the majestic mountain, Zhang Che could finally rest at ease.

With that ferocious beast’s skeleton around, there shouldn’t be any exotic beasts who dared come there.

As for whether exotic beasts with the same level and quality as the ferocious beast would pass by here coincidentally, Zhang Che wasn’t worried about that.

There were probably not many exotic beasts at its level in the beast world. If he could run into one of them so casually, he wouldn’t have survived until now.

In order to thank the ferocious beast’s skeleton for providing him a safe haven, naturally Zhang Che had to go pay his respects to the remains.

Although he had the Purple Crystal Tortoise bury the remains back then, it wasn’t difficult to clear it. He didn’t have to do it himself, anyway.

Only those who could be oppressed were good babies!

The Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon flew close to the ground, quickly arriving at the platform on the peak of the mountain.

Looking over, Zhang Che realized that the area wasn’t any different from how it was when he left. The only thing new was a thick layer of dust now covering the rocks.

It seemed like the skeleton emanated the same ferocious aura, even though it was buried deep under the rocks, and no exotic beasts dared to come close.

Zhang Che jumped down from the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon’s back. Looking at the pile of rubble on the platform, he thought for a moment and decided against summoning the Purple Crystal Tortoise to act as a coolie.

As he was right now, he couldn’t bring the skeleton away. Why waste the energy?

As he thought that, the two swords in his spiritual sea suddenly trembled violently.

-What’s going on?- Zhang Che was shocked, thinking there might be danger around him. He hurriedly summoned his capable babies and focused his senses, but he didn’t discover anything amiss.

Even so, the two swords trembled increasingly violently.

If they weren’t under Zhang Che’s control, they would probably have flown out from his spiritual sea.

-What’s going on with the two swords?- Zhang Che was confused. He immediately thought of a possibility. -Could it be because of the skeleton below me?-

Whether that was true or not, he’d know immediately after testing it!

In the next moment, two streaks of light, one scarlet and one white, flew out from Zhang Che’s brows, circling around him.

It was the first time Zhang Che felt the two swords appealing to him to let go of his control over them!

Zhang Che had an uncertain look on his face. He truly had no idea what was going on with the two swords.

Wouldn’t he be at a loss and have no one to cry to if he gave up his control over them and they flew away, just like that?

However, Zhang Che had no choice but to take the situation into careful consideration, seeing how the swords were acting.

It was without a doubt that they discovered something.

To let go or not to let go… That was the question…
