The Two Dumb People (1)
Ji Qingzhou just followed Shen Rongyu with her head down. He was tall, and hiding behind him would keep her away from the people walking to and fro on the street.
However, Shen Rongyu stopped shortly after walking some distance.
He understood what was going on. As long as he didn’t take the initiative to speak, Ji Qingzhou could just follow him all day.
“Where do you want to go?” He turned around and asked her.
It was morning, and the bright sunlight reflected a beautiful arc on his profile. Ji Qingzhou didn’t dare to look into his eyes, and focused on the tip of his lovely nose.
She thought for a moment and replied, “I want to go to the spirit beasts.”
“Didn’t we just buy one?” Shen Rongyu glanced at the Profound Frost Beast cub in her arms. The little guy was frightened by him, and kept digging into Ji Qingzhou’s arms.
“Right…” Ji Qingzhou’s tone reeked of disappointment. “Then shall we go eat something?”
Maybe it was because the food here was imbued with spirit qi, Ji Qingzhou thought that the dishes in the cultivation world were especially delicious. She ate at Qiao Shu’s place every day in Xuanyun Sect. Although she wasn’t tired of the only few dishes there, she also wanted to try some new cuisine.
“En,” Shen Rongyu replied. He finally had a direction now.
However, he forgot one thing. He didn’t know where the restaurant area was in the huge market. The streets and alleys intersected with each other. This marketplace was far more complicated than he imagined.
Shen Rongyu was very calm. He still led Ji Qingzhou and walked forward with firm steps, like a professional guide, or a regular visitor there.
Ji Qingzhou stared at his confident back. While stroking the head of the Profound Frost Beast in her arms, she thought to herself, Shen Rongyu will forever be Shen Rongyu. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
She followed Shen Rongyu for a long time, and gradually felt that something was amiss. It was because they had passed this road for the third time, yet they still had to find the legendary snack street that sold food.
“Xiao Yu-shixiong,” Ji Qingzhou decided to remind him. She didn’t eat in the morning and was a little hungry. “We’ve walked this road three times.”
Shen Rongyu, who didn’t know the way, couldn’t refute.
He had never cared about these things. He had never been to a market whatsoever, but he also didn’t want to expose this fact in front of Ji Qingzhou.
Shen Rongyu suddenly raised his eyes, saw the various colors of clothes displayed in the store on the roadside, and lifted his jaw to Ji Qingzhou: “After three laps, don’t you want to go in and take a look?”
Ji Qingzhou looked down at her black dress, then at the store’s fancy dresses, and she shook her head. “I’d better not.”
“Don’t you like them?” Shen Rongyu asked her. Other than sleeping, he did not know of Ji Qingzhou’s other preferences.
Ji Qingzhou hugged the cub in her arms tightly. It was not that she didn’t like them. She just had never tried one one, so she didn’t want to buy it.
The colors of those dresses were so vibrant and beautiful, and those colors didn’t fit her.
“Let’s go in and have a look.” Shen Rongyu pulled her by the wrist.
Ji Qingzhou’s wrist was cold. Perhaps because she had been hugging the beast for so long, Shen Rongyu pulled the little guy out of her arms and tossed it away.
Ji Qingzhou wanted to reach out to pick it up, but soon, the little spirit beast surprisingly spread wings from its back and flew beside her.
The interior of the store was deserted, in contrast to the liveliness on the street outside. The reason was very simple. The stuff inside were expensive, and even the shopkeeper was leaning sideways and reading a book. He didn’t even get up to greet them.
For others, this attitude might have caused displeasure, but for Ji Qingzhou, it was simply the perfect shopping environment.
After seeing that she didn’t have to deal with the shopkeeper, she checked out the clothes displayed in the store. They were flashy and unique in design.
Of course, the most peculiar thing was that shades of magic were faintly swirling on the clothes — This, however, was something Ji Qingzhou couldn’t see.
They were equivalent to small magic treasures, which worked as preventive measures against water, wind and attacks. Each of them was valuable, at least not one she could afford as a newly accepted disciple.
Shen Rongyu asked Ji Qingzhou, “Do you like any?”
Ji Qingzhou shook her head. She searched some more and pulled out a blue dress. “This one?”
Shen Rongyu said to her, “Try it.”
Ji Qingzhou nodded. She actually liked it a little. Who could refuse a beautiful dress?
Since she didn’t dare to wear something of the like outside, she might as well try it on in a private space.
She walked into the fitting room and started trying on the cumbersome dress. In fact, if her cultivation was higher, and if she could use spells, she could have changed into the dress with one flick, but she was incapable at the moment. Hence, she was left with no other choice but to dress slowly.
Seeing her walk into the fitting room, Shen Rongyu walked out of the store, and then performed the Air Control Technique. He flew to the sky at lightning speed, locked on the area where food was sold in the market, and planned their next route.
He speedily returned to the store. At this time, Ji Qingzhou still hadn’t finished changing, but the shopkeeper of the store had never seen such a maneuver before. He put down the book in his hand and looked at Shen Rongyu in surprise.
“Shen-shixiong of the Xuanyun Sect?” Only then did the shopkeeper recognize Shen Rongyu.
“Hm,” Shen Rongyu answered coldly.
“We have never seen you in the marketplace. Which lady did you bring to buy clothes?” The shopkeeper lowered his voice and said to Shen Rongyu, “Fellow Daoist Shen, the stuff I have here isn’t cheap.”
