Chen Xin could use a hose to fill up his water tank if the tap water supply from the area still worked. He had used a long hose from the construction team to fill up his water tank when he was still building the bunker.

However, the construction team was gone, and Chen Xin did not have a long hose. Furthermore, he did not know whether the tap water supply still worked.

Since there was the threat of fire and meteorites, the water plants might not have survived the disasters. It was concerning.

Also, even if the water plants did survive through all that and the government ensured its operation, how would Chen Xin transfer tap water into his tank?

A hose? He did not have a long hose, all he had were a bunch of 1.5L mineral water bottles.

Some might say to just use the mineral water bottles, go for it!

A simple scientific explanation of water mass and weight (also known as water density) needed to be carried out before doing so.

The density of purified water was 1. A liter of water meant 1 kilogram, putting a ton of water as 1 unit.

His water tank could store three tons of water, which meant he needed 3 units of water. He had about thirty 1.5L mineral water bottles. If he filled it all up, he could carry 45 liters of water, it was 45 kilograms in total. About the weight of a girlfriend.

Putting Chen Xin’s physical abilities and time concerns aside, how many times did he need to go back and forth to transfer the water?

It was not a hard math question, even a pre-schooler could solve it.

Three tons of water was equal to three thousand liters. Chen Xin could carry 45 liters of water each round, using a simple math equation, Chen Xin had to go back and forth around 67 times.

Imagine carrying a girlfriend back and forth 67 times in one go.

Chen Xin might do that if it were just a few couple times. If it were only ten rounds, he would find a tap water supply and fill up his mineral water bottles.

However, Chen Xin lost his will to move at the thought of going back and forth 67 times.

He might be able to pull it off if he split up the transfer rounds, but there was no secure and stable water source yet.

He had to think of another solution. He considered a system upgrade.

He avoided this at first because the system could not create something out of nothing, it could only upgrade what was already there.

Chen Xin had no reliable water source, whether it be tap water supply outside the bunker or creating a water well inside the bunker. He had not prepared for this.

Chen Xin thought about building a water well for the bunker so that he could attain a new water source even if he ran out of drinkable water.

The construction team hired by Chen Xin did not know how to build a well, Chen Xin did not bother finding someone with the skills to build one either.

Chen Xin was in the south part of Vermillion, it was nearby Daze Town. Daze Town was known for its underground water resources, a lot of water pumps could be seen in the countryside too.

Chen Xin wanted a water well in the bunker but he ran out of time, so he gave up on the idea.

Chen Xin wanted to upgrade the water supply. He was unsure of whether a well could be created along with the upgrade.

However, it was better than running back and forth 67 times. Chen Xin had to risk it all and try.

Thankfully, the survival system did not let him down.

“Water Shortage”

“Upgrade Plan A — Water system level up, higher chances of dirtied water being recycled, +2 units of water tank storage, recycled water +1, 500 survival points required for the upgrade.”

“Upgrade Plan B — Water system level up, higher chances of dirtied water being recycled, +1 water pump, +5 units of water tank storage, 300 survival points required for the upgrade.”

“Note — The water pump could reach 50 meters underground. If your bunker did not have water 50 meters underground, water could not be pumped.”

Chen Xin let out a sigh of relief when he saw the water pump. Chen Xin glanced at the upgrade plan note and ignored it.

He was on the southern side of Vermillion, home of many lakes and rivers. Being situated near Daze Town meant he access to underground water. Chen Xin had to avoid accidentally digging into a water source and ensure the bunker was waterproof when he built it.

Chen Xin did not need to worry about whether there were water 50 meters underground. He just knew there was. He had a manual water pump at his house before.

Chen Xin instantly used the survival points he saved up for a month on Upgrade Plan B.

The net-shaped upgrade light shined and covered the water system.

Chen Xin once again witnessed the glory and wonder of the system. A water pump formed out of thin air!

Chen Xin was amazed. He checked on the water pump and looked for the switch in the switchroom. He turned on the water pump and it started operating.

It was a small water pump, but it was still working with loud buzzing noises.

The water pump was noisier than the generator, Chen Xin was observing it closely as if the water pump were a small brat throwing a tantrum. He hoped to hear the sound of water flowing in.

Chen Xin was nervous, he knew there was water but what if the water was slightly deeper underground?

The ‘brat’ did not disappoint him. Chen Xin was just starting to worry when the small pump had loud flushing noises. Soon, the buzzing noise was replaced with the sound of water pumping in. The water tank sounded like it was being filled up.

The water was being pumped in!
