Ling Kexin saw the change in his expression and was shocked. She hesitated for a moment before asking, “Dr. Lu, W-what’s wrong? Did something happen?”

Lu Jingyan placed the documents into the drawer under the table. He looked up at the woman in front of him and asked calmly, “Is there anything else?”

Ling Kexin was caught off guard by his sudden question and instinctively shook her head. “No, no.”

“Then, please leave the room!” Lu Jingyan retracted his gaze, picked up the medical documents beside him, and started flipping through them. He casually ordered her to leave.

Ling Kexin was a little embarrassed. She smiled and asked, “Um… Dr. Lu, do you… have time tonight? I want to treat you to a meal.” She paused for a while, but she was afraid that Lu Jingyan would reject her, so she specially added, “The incident of Bed 62… If not for you, the consequences would be unimaginable, so…”

Ling Kexin was speechless. She sighed silently and nodded in relief, “Alright then! I won’t disturb you anymore, Dr. Lu.” Then, she turned and left the office. When she closed the office door, she specially turned back to look at him, only to find that he was still engrossed in reading the documents on the table, not caring about her departure at all.

After Ling Kexin left, Lu Jingyan put down the pen in his hand, opened the drawer again, and took out the document. He took out the document and looked at it seriously. The more he looked at it, the gloomier his expression became.

Excellent. This was the first time Lu Jingyan had received a subpoena from the court. It was a divorce lawsuit sent by his lawyer wife, whom had been married to him secretly for two years.

“Ms. Su, when are you getting off work?” The office door was pushed open and Yi Yao walked in and asked softly.

Su Yanxi looked up and rubbed her temples. She glanced at the time on her wrist. It was already 10:12 pm. She sighed deeply and stretched her neck before closing the document on the table. “Let’s get off work!”

“Okay.” Yi Yao immediately nodded excitedly.

Su Yanxi tidied up the documents and laptop on the table before leaving the office.

She drove all the way back to the villa by the river. After parking the car, Su Yanxi came to the door of the villa and pressed the password skillfully. The electronic door opened with a ding and she walked in. She was used to not turning on the lights at the entrance.

Even though the house was very dark, she still walked to the living room with ease. Just as she put down her handbag and laptop bag, a dark and scary voice sounded slowly, “Why are you so late?”

“Argh!”

Su Yanxi was frightened by the sudden voice. She stared at the dark figure and felt that the voice and the figure were both very familiar. She probed, “Lu Jingyan?”

“Swoosh—”

Just as she finished speaking, the floor lamp in the living room suddenly lit up. Su Yanxi could clearly see the man’s sharp and dark features. Her panicked heart calmed down slowly as she stared at him in disbelief, “You… Why are you here?”

“You seem to have forgotten that this is also my home after living here for two years.” The man crossed his legs and leaned leisurely on the back of the sofa. His cold eyes stared quietly at her beautiful face.

Su Yanxi could not refute his words, so she did not answer him.

“Why did you come back so late?” Lu Jingyan narrowed his eyes as if he did not like her silence.

“Working overtime.” Su Yanxi tilted her head and replied concisely.

Lu Jingyan tossed the list onto the coffee table and scrutinized her, “Explain this!”
