Chapter 31: Paradise: 10 Day Trial Edition!
Van willed the display away and turned his attention to the two imposing guards in front of him. They were looking at him with strange expressions. Van started to smile wryly, he could guess what they were thinking of him at the moment.
"I apologize for that, Fellow Daoists! I just had a surprise mental transmission."
The guards nodded slowly. Surprise mental transmissions were a rather valid excuse, the kid didn't seem mentally impaired. The guards looked middle-aged but were actually about 70. Their high cultivation bases allowed them to stretch their youth for longer.
"Please state your name and your reason for stay."
"Van Nguyen. Reason for stay... I was teleported here through some strange ancient formation during a promotions test."
The guards were shocked. They had heard that if anyone came through a certain ancient transmissions formation and had a certain spiritual imprint on them, that they were to be treated honorably for the 10 days that they stayed. The city lord of the Celestial Heavens City had owed a favor to one of the majestic cultivators that lived in the Red Rock Continent and decided to pay it back with the ancient formation, giving an opportunity for any of the cultivator's disciples to have an opportunity to improve themselves in a Celestial Paradise. The guards scanned Van with his divine sense, and unsurprisingly, found a spiritual imprint.
"Honored Guest, please follow me."
The senior guard took the initiative to escort Van through the city. Van was in awe of the size and majesty of the city. Celestial Heavens City was about 20 times larger than Mulberry City and was extremely flashy. The road was made out of Spiritual Jade and every house was made out of valuable Spirit Materials.
"How much is it for a house in the city?!"
Van asked the guard, very interested. The guard had a strange look on his face.
This kid at the 10th Stage of Dantian Formation wanted to live here? Even King ranked cultivators could barely live in the apartments here.
The guard politely replied to Van's inquiry despite the obvious absurdity of the question.
"It would cost anywhere around 100 million low-grade spirit stones for private housing."
Van's heart lurched when he heard the cost. He was already rather poor in his cultivator world. But in this Celestial city, he wouldn't even qualify to become a homeless person.
Van smiled wryly as he thought of how long it would take for him to amass such wealth. But he didn't let himself become discouraged for too long and continued following the guard through the streets of paradise.
Van saw street vendors with trinkets strewn across their tablecloths. Golden carriages drove back and forth through the city. It seemed like a normal city besides the fact that everyone was much stronger and wealthier than the elites of the cities on the Red Rock Continent.
The scene didn't disappoint Van's expectations. In fact, they had surprised his wildest dreams. He would never have dreamed he would come to a city where even Saint ranked experts were only uncommon.
Van's eyes started to shine. If he could find a strong master from this city, no one would dare offend him back in the Red Rock Continent! Van could already see the faces of his aunt and grandfather beaming with pride when he came back. He could get his master to save his grandfather!
Van let out a toothy grin before waking up from his fantasies. He continued to follow the Senior Guard throughout the streets. Before long, they made it in front of a massive palace. The palace was very beautiful and massive jade statues depicting roaring lions and majestic kings of old towered over the viewers.
Van's mouth was agape. He was just in awe of everything around him. This world was so much more extraordinary than he was used to. A year and a half ago, he was just a cultivator at the 2nd Stage of Body Fortification. Now, he was in the palace of what seemed to be for the gods.
The senior guard waited for Van to take in his surroundings before continuing to guide Van through the winding hallways. The massive size of the palace made it very time-consuming to walk through the palace. But as Van wasn't at the Saint Stage, he wasn't allowed to fly above the palace for any reason.
The senior guard walked up to the gates and inserted a jade medallion into a slot before stepping back. A few moments later, the massive gates opened and the guard escorted Van through the hallway.
This hallway was made out of materials that were a lot more valuable. Van could tell from the abundant amount of Qi in the hallway. It was almost 10 times stronger than the Qi outside. He could also sense a small hint of Divine Power from one of the marks on the wall.
Further down the hallway, he found another source of Divine Power. This time it was coming from behind another set of large decorative doors. Van's escort announced their arrival.
"The honored guest from far away has arrived! Senior Guard Hao Li greets the God ranked expert!"
Van started tensing up.
The city lord was a God ranked expert?!
Van had heard of demi-god ranked experts, there was one ruling over the Red Rock Continent. But, he had never heard of God ranked experts. He knew that the path of cultivation was infinitely vast, but he didn't know how vast it was until now.
He had become enlightened. He sat cross-legged on the ground and meditated upon the path.
The Senior Guard was surprised, he was about to wake Van up. When an old man appeared behind the guard and stopped him. The Senior Guard was surprised. He immediately went on one knee and bowed his head while cupping his hands.
"City Lord! Senior Guard Hao Li greets the city lord!"
The old man had an amused expression on his face. This kid was so dedicated to cultivation that he decided to comprehend it while in the face of a god ranked expert.
This kid will have a bright future in cultivation.
The old man thought to himself.
Might as well do him a favor or two to guide his way.
The old man left a few strange marks that emitted a sense of boundlessness and profoundness. He also sent Van a mental transmission with a few profound words to guide Van's thoughts.
