Chapter 1987 - The Unity of the Three

Jiang Chen had already expected that Lan Xian would die. He believed that Dragon Shisan would never show mercy to Lan Xian. Although Lan Xian is very powerful, his strength was nowhere close to Dragon Shisan’s.

However, those who had little understanding of Dragon Shisan was undoubtedly astonished. Even Yu Huafan was gaping at Dragon Shisan, the waves of emotion inside of him were unable to settle.

This was the biggest blow to the geniuses as they were all proud individuals that never admit defeat. When their opponent was so much more powerful than them, they felt a strong sense of failure.

“Truly amazing!”

Yu Huafan shook his head and sighed. Although Jiang Chen had already mentioned Dragon Shisan’s fearsomeness, there was no way that he wouldn’t be surprised by the fact that a peak Second Grade Great Sovereign didn’t even have the chance to escape before he was killed.

Ignoring the reaction of the others, what Jiang Chen noticed was that the resentment on Dragon Shisan had reduced a little after he killed Lan Xian, as though a tiny portion of the anger had been vented out, which was a good thing.

The illusory saintess, who was standing in the sky, finally revealed a smile on her face. Apparently, she was quite content with Dragon Shisan’s performance.

“Continue the battle. This is not restricted to just one versus one. You can join forces to fight this saint ape. If you can defeat him, you will be rewarded.”

Her voice resounded across the void once more. Her words rekindled the desire in the geniuses’ heart, and boosted their morale.

“She’s pretty insistent.”

Jiang Chen shook his head. The saintess had totally regarded Dragon Shisan as a tool for venting out her resentment. The life and death of Dragon Shisan didn’t seem to concern her at all. Which meant that she wouldn’t stop them even if a few dozen of them joined forces to fight Dragon Shisan.

“Everyone, the saintess has said that we can choose to join forces. As long as you can defeat the saint ape, the saintess will give away her inheritance and a gift from the collection I have received. However, let me remind you all again, you’d better gauge your strength well before you choose to fight. Your life and death is decreed by fate once you are on the battlefield. It will have nothing to do with the Demonic Immortal Island,” stated Heavenly Peng clearly.

For the sake of releasing the resentment of the saintess, he wouldn’t care if this would affront the Immortal Courts. He was a fearless man. He wasn’t intimidated at all by the power of the Immortal Courts.

Furthermore, he had already told them that there was no guarantee they would live once they were on the battlefield. It was their choice to make whether they decide to confront the saint ape.

“Is there anyone who is willing to join me?”

Tan Jinye of Mi Luo Immortal Court emerged. The temptation of the two rewards was just too great to resist. Besides, he had an old score to settle with Dragon Shisan who was growing so rapidly that his degree of threat had transcended Jiang Chen’s.

The best way to eliminate this threat was to get rid of Dragon Shisan as soon as possible.

Of course, he had an important prerequisite – he needed extra hands. Despite his arrogance and greed, he wasn’t a fool. He knew Lan Xian’s strength very well. Knowing that even Lan Xian was instantly killed, he would mostly meet the same fate if he rushed forward recklessly.

“I’ll join you.”

A man in grey sack clothes stood out from the crowd. His sturdy body was full of bulging muscles. One could tell that he was a body cultivator at first glance.

His name is Liu He, a genius from Radiance Immortal Court with a cultivation base of peak Second Grade Great Sovereign, on par with Tan Jinye. He had the same intention as Tan Jinye because his Immortal Court was one of the three that Jiang Chen and Dragon Shisan had offended.

To the experts of these three Immortal Courts, both Jiang Chen and Dragon Shisan were the targets they needed to eliminate on sight. Now that Lan Xian was killed, their desire to eradicate Dragon Shisan intensified.

“Alright, anyone else?”

Tan Jinye looked around at the geniuses. After witnessing the scariness of Dragon Shisan, he knew that they were still not enough to defeat Dragon Shisan. They needed at least one more that was on the same level as them if they wanted to defeat Dragon Shisan.

“Me.”

Another man stood out. He was a genius from Limitless Immortal Court named Luo Wanjian, having the same cultivation base as the two. He was famous for sweeping anything around him with a swing of his sword. He had devoted his life to cultivate the sword. He had mastered his own Dao of Sword, which helped him break through to Great Sovereign realm.

Tan Jinye and Liu He’s eyes sparkled when they saw that it was Luo Wanjian. Having this powerful genius in their team, they felt even more confident in dealing with Dragon Shisan.

“Who else?” Tan Jinye asked again.

“Tan Jinye, don’t you know what shame is? You already have two people in your team. I’m not going to join you. If its four versus one, then even if we win, there’s nothing to be proud of, and if we lose, we won’t even have the guts to raise our head again in public,” one man said in a sarcastic tone.

“That’s right. We still have our own dignity. We won’t bully our opponent just because we have more people. I rather not fight the battle if I’m incapable. I can’t afford to shame myself,” another man added.

What they said was reasonable. People like them cared about their reputation the most. Each of them was a renowned figure, a representative of their generation and their respective Immortal Court. They were the one who was fighting numerous opponents at once. They had never tried to join forces just to fight a single enemy. Their strong sense of pride didn’t allow them to make such a decision.

Now, Tan Jinye’s team already got three of them, which was the most they could get because no one else was shameless enough to join them after the sarcastic remarks made by the two.

“Humph! We act based on the particular situation. It’s fine if you all are reluctant to join us. The three of us are sufficient to defeat Dragon Shisan. Don’t you all get envious when we obtain treasures after this.”

Tan Jinye harrumphed coldly. Unlike the other geniuses, he had a very deep grudge against Dragon Shisan.
