Chapter 75 - Step One

*Warning! Violent & Disturbing Topics This Chapter! Read at Your Own Discretion!*

Devin knew, even before he got transmigrated, that not everything in the movies and television shows was idyllic. There had to be a darker aspect to those fictional universes as they were based in some way or form on the reality of the person or persons that wrote them in the first place and there is that darkness that obscures the atrocities that are committed that most people never see or hear about unless they either go looking for it, stumble upon it, or it is shown to them.

This was one of those moments for Devin. Having saw Kilgrave's little memory book about Jessica, Devin was convinced that he might see other horrible or dark things in this universe that weren't in the movies since this world seems to be a blend of universes, but there were a few instances that he was hoping wouldn't be a thing in this universe like the Marvel Zombies or even the spider virus, but it seems like not all the horrible things will be of the Marvel exclusive type.

Lynch had been busy the last decade. He had somehow been hired as the principle of the school roughly a decade ago and supposedly been taking bribes under the table from some of the wealthier families to look the other way whenever their child had broken some rules or had issues with their grades. This included burying cases of bullying and other things that would have resulted in expulsion. There were even files that suggested that he was connected to the Russians. That he was involved with almost a dozen missing person cases, all of which were teenage girls, as well as two apparent suicides, but there was no evidence to speak to the contrary.

With every file, Devin's anger would rise higher and higher. It took every once of control that Devin had not to pulverize his phone while reading the files. Devin knew that he would need to remove this parasite if he wanted to give the kids the peace and normalcy they deserved in their lives. Though thanks to Lynch's careful maneuvering and the interference from some of the people he ȧssociated with he would need to do things delicately. First, a call to a certain attorney. Then, preparing a nice casket for one pathetic, worthless sac of flesh.

*One Week Later*

Devin had been coordinating and planning with Jen all week. Jen said that after Devin had sent her the files, she now had enough to remove Lynch from his position of principle and to move towards building a solid case against him, but Devin had other plans. Devin planned to disparage Lynch's public image and remove him from his position before dealing with him, so that when Devin did get a hold of him then there wouldn't be nearly the amount of scrutiny into what happened to Lynch. Devin could feel the spirits fueling the need to find and eliminate the pathetic man. To tear into Lynch and remove the object of his ire once and for all. Devin started keeping an iron grip on that feeling, not letting it control him yet not letting it fade and disappear.

The final ruling had just concluded and it had been ruled that Lynch was to be removed from his position as principle effective immediately pending a full investigation of the former principal. Devin of course was sitting in the civilian section of the proceedings in the same black suit and red shirt combo that he had worn when he had met Lynch the first time. He sat in the back to avoid being recognized as having Lynch see him and then possibly telling his little friends in high places would make things just that much more of a pain in the rear.

'It's a little weird that I'm okay with planning to murder a man in cold blood so easily, but after reading what I did I can't help but feel the need to wipe that shit stain off this planet.' Devin thought as he stood and left, blending with the few people that came to this. Those being a few "Friends" of Lynch's and some parents that had grievances with Lynch in the past looking to watch him get some form of retribution. As Devin descended the steps of the building that the case was being presided over in, he heard a voice call out to him from the top of the steps.

"Devin!"

Turning back to the steps found Jen in her lavender business suit with a black brief case in her left hand. Her other hand was curled into a fist and propped on her right hip that went well with the look of feigned annoyance that graced her features, though Devin could detect that there was a smile just waiting to shine through that fake, thin veil of discontent.

"Were you even gonna stop and say 'Hi' Devin?" Jen asked as she made her way down the steps towards Devin as the man in question waited for her to approach.

"Sorry, figured you were gonna be busy with the case as well as work." Devin answered back to her as she looked him up and down.

"You look like you're out for people's souls Devin." Jen said as she gave him a Cheshire grin that Devin couldn't help but return.

"No, not peoples, just one person's." Devin returned while looking up at the entrance to the building. Trying to keep an eye out for Lynch. Jen noticed that look and coupled with the comment she went from a grin to a frown real quick.

"Devin, you're not thinking of doing anything rash are you? I understand that Lynch has quite some problems for the kids and you, but don't throw away what you have for something as worthless as revenge." Jen said as Devin looked down at Jen once he was sure that Lynch wouldn't suddenly appear.

"No Jen, I wouldn't throw away what I have for revenge. I just want to see this to the end and make sure that Lynch gets what is coming to him." Devin said as he motioned with his head for them to walk and talk. This prompted Jen to nod before falling into step with him.

"So, we get Lynch out of the school at the very least and, if we're lucky, into a prison jump suit. But what if he does get out from under the charges?" Jen asked as they stepped onto a crosswalk and passed other people as well as cars.

"With the amount of bad things that Lynch has done. Karma will come for him, and when it does he will pay for what he has done. Karma's a bitch like that." Devin said as he waved his hand whilst explaining. Soon they arrived at Devin's truck and prepared to part.

"Mr. Lynch has some pretty powerful connections. That lawyer he has doesn't come cheap and only works for a select clientele." Jen said as if this was supposed to persuade him from his course. All it did was make him chuckle.

"Jen, sometimes things are a little more cut and dried than most people want to believe." Devin said before getting into his truck and rolling down the window.

"Sometimes things are just as simple as taking a breath." Devin finished before starting the truck and driving away. Jen watched as the truck rounded a corner before disappearing.

"Sometimes it's the fact that it is that easy that makes it that much worse.." Jen muttered as she turned and headed towards her office.
