Chapter 6:The Dungeon Lord added some Lightning

As I pressed my hands against the wall I felt no resistance as if the walls were made of foam. I pulled back my hands and the hole closed up.

"Hmm, interesting!"

Trying again, this time I dispelled the mana from my hands before pulling them out and two holes in the shape of hands were formed in the wall.

"Nice!"

Next I tried following the tutorial, first making a mana square then pushing it...

Fail!

Let's try again....

Fail!

Damn, one more time!

Fail!

...

A few hours later I had lost the count of times I had failed.

While I had some theories about why I was failing, which could be summarized to lack of Mana and lack of control, I had no solution expect grow stronger and keep practicing.

Normally I wouldn't bother myself with the failures but the Mana in the air was getting thinner and thinner and my instincts were telling me this was bad, so I started getting restless and a bit desperate, and that may be why I completely give up the damn square and started using only my hands to dig the tunnel.

The end result was.....ok.....the tunnel slowly start taking form and no matter how dumpy and uneven it was, it was functional, so that was enough. Later, when I mastered the Mana manipulation technique I could always come back and fix it anyway, or at least that's what I tried to convince myself.

...

And there I was, covered in dirt, just like a kid playing in the sand.

Somehow, midway, I started singing some silly music.

I don't remember where I heard it before. Honestly, my memory is quite a mess, but this doesn't matter now.

"Dig, dig, dig,"

[15g of Iron acquired!]

[32g of Copper acquired!]

"The treasures Earth keeps hidden,"

[1 topaz gem acquired!]

"I will discover them all today!"

[11g of Copper acquired!]

....

I kept on digging and singing and by the time I noticed I had already gone quite far.

My eyes were still in Mana Sight mode, so I could see perfectly well even in complete dark but all this darkness was starting to make me uncomfortable, so I thought it was time to add some lightning and make things brighter.

Stepping back to the Mana Core, I choose summoning again, and asked for some lightning.

[Static Lightning]

...

[Resources required:]

-Topaz gem, 1

-Mana, 200u

Great! I luckily got all the resources I need!

"Confirm!"

[Understood!]

[Please mark the summoning destination with the star symbol and press Continue]

I took notice of the star symbol below the message, it was actually quite simple.

A single circle with a 5 points star in the middle.

Easy! This one I'm sure even I can draw it!

Back in the tunnel, I did my best drawing it and somehow it turned up fairly good, it was quite symmetrical and didn't have any big distortion.

Once again, on the Dungeon Core, I pressed Continue.

...

...

...

Nothing!

The message was still the same...

"Oh! Yeah! this thing only recognizes Mana! This must be the problem!"

Back to the circle, I filled it with Mana and after making sure it was fine I walked again to the Dungeon Core and clicked Continue.

....

....

....

Nothing!

"What the heck!?"

I looked back at the circle and discovered all Mana that was added to it had vanished.

T_T

Let's try again...

After filling the summoning circle, I had a sudden thought.

"Maybe I should keep providing Mana to it, to ensure the Mana doesn't disperse..."

So, I started to back down while looking at the circle and doing my best to keep sending mana to it.

One step, two steps, thr-damn! Let's try again!

Bit by bit I was improving my mana control, and after the tenth try or so I was able to control it up to midway, but after that no matter how much I tried I couldn't make any progress.

"Maybe there is a limit of 10 meters? Or maybe my level is too low?..."

Anyway, I decided to try one more time, but this time when I reached midway I stopped just before losing control and looked at the other side, my target, the Dungeon Core!

By manipulating Mana the same way I was doing to feed the summoning circle, I started sending mana to the Dungeon Core. Little by little I felt my Mana floating slowly to the Dungeon Core, maybe I should be happy but my real feelings were not that carefree.

Actually my left arm, which was still feeding the summoning circle, started feeling heavier and heavier as if it was holding the end of a bamboo stick horizontally, and my right arm was slowly but surely walking the same way. It took all my will power to not allow them to rest and keep them in place.

Just as I felt I couldn't hold on anymore and was closing my eyes a huge spark of light illuminated the tunnel. I looked back at the summoning circle and a huge Lightning was descending on it as if a sign of Divine Punishment.

"Wow! It's working!!!"

I kept staring at the Lightning, waiting for it to disappear and the lights to be summoned.

And so I waited... and waited... and waited...

???

"What is going on??"

Somehow the Lightning seemed to refuse to disappear and kept on descending in all its furry at the end of the tunnel.

I scratched by head and went back to the Dungeon Crystal...

[Summoning Complete!]

Confused, I took another look at the item description which I had skipped before...
