165 Ch. 165 'The Serpentine'

Zephyr still continued his call without knowing the familiar spirit he had called on its way to his place. He didn't even know whether his magic was enough to summon a familiar sea spirit or not. But at least he had used all his pure magic to summon the familiar sea spirit. He was sure that his calling would be well accomplished.

It didn't take long before there was a wave of magic energy in the air as if another creature had arrived. Thinking the serpentine was coming, Zephyr stopped his summoning wave and rose to his feet.

But it wasn't the creature that came, but one of the members of his army. The person was wearing silver armor with the highest defense array and a helmet like a royal warrior.

The person saluted Zephyr by kneeling one foot and then lowered his head.

"Captain, we have news about our target. Someone saw him in the east."

"Eastern country? I was only there a few weeks ago. Are you sure that he was there?"

"The Beta team is currently investigating this rumor."

"Forget it. When I was there, I didn't feel his power at all. There is no need to investigate these rumors. Investigate elsewhere."

"Yes, sir."

As the man rose to his feet and was about to perform a teleport magic technique, the water beneath their feet shook into a violent whirlpool.

"Go away from here!" Zephyr gave orders to his underling before the members' bodies drowned in the terrifying whirlpool below them.

Without being asked twice, the person swiftly activated his teleport magic and disappeared without a trace. Meanwhile, Zephyr jumped and floated in mid-air.

It didn't take long before something huge like a dragon's head appeared from the water and rose above Zephyr's position.

The creature looked so frightening that it would make everyone who saw it run in fear.

The serpentine power almost in par with the Supreme Alpha's strength. However, because Alpha has a master while serpentine has not yet chosen a master, Alpha's strength is slightly superior to the serpentine.

If Alpha is the spirit familiar that rules the land, then serpentine is the familiar spirit that commands the sea.

For a moment, neither of them moved nor made a sound. Zephyr still hovered in his position while being alert, while serpentine also did not start offensive action. One look, the serpent knows that the human in front of him is not an ordinary human, but a wizard who has at least two indigo-stage magic circles.

Although everyone knew that Zephyr had two magic circles, serpentine could see that the young man in front of her has at least five magic circles. And all are in the indigo stage, while the rest are in the violet stage!

Without answering or responding to Zephyr, the serpentine immediately descended and dived into the ocean before swimming to the mermaid lake.

Seeing that his task was finished, Zephyr decided to return to his mission. He would postpone meeting Kazuto for now. He had already guessed that the successor disciple Zephyr mention was Kazuto. He could feel the change in the flow of energy waves in Kazuto's body.

He didn't want to create an awkward atmosphere between Zehell and Kazuto as he tried to demand an explanation regarding Ren's death. That's why he decided to go and leave the rest to Zehell and the others.

At the borderline of the lake, the serpentine has returned to its cute version. She slowly swimming her way into the lake's border. She could see the array supporting the lake, but she had no trouble getting inside.

The serpent swam inside and saw that there were so many black serpents swimming around her.

Everyone without exception has become an evil mermaid, even the princess who has a strong soul and magic had also become an evil spirit.

What happened? Why do all the mermaids turn out to be like this?

The serpentine dived more in-depth into the now-less-brilliant palace. She headed to the throne room, then stopped and laid down on the circle that should have been the queen's throne seat.

She closed her eyes, absorbing all the information about this place, and several images appeared in her mind.

Then she saw another image like two mermaids held in the basement of the mansion and a dozen prospective baby mermaids in a magical pool. Seeing this made her sad, and felt sympathy for the suffering of the mermaids here.

The serpentine wanted to help them. She craved to save this lake and restore the mermaid kingdom's glory to the way it was before. Now she understood why the masked man had called her here. The man knew she could purify this lake water from the dark force.

But she couldn't do it. She could indeed purify the lake water's energy, but she couldn't bring back the mermaids. Even though the water in this lake was pure, the evil mermaids who live in this place will again pollute the water, becoming darker and more intense. She wouldn't be able to purify it a second time.

There must be something that will bring back the mermaids' consciousness, something like bringing out the beautiful memories deep inside the mermaid's heart. She also needs that time traveler girl as she had the other half of Merylin's astral soul.

It's just that she doesn't know where to find the girl. She was not even sure that time travelers still exist today. All the time travelers have disappeared, and now all that's left is the very few time controllers.

The serpent closed her eyes while digging up the memories this place had. She wanted to find any clue that could help her get the mermaids back.

In the next image, she saw a daemon standing by the lake with a gaze full of hatred. Then she saw the daemon wanted to take revenge and kill all the Elementalists that were involved in the mermaid kingdom's invasion.

This daemon let the demon inside of him come out and take control of his soul. Mercilessly this daemon sucked out the Elementalists' astral souls and ate them. The daemon's body was getting more potent and more terrifying, causing Elementalists overwhelmed by it.

Until finally, the wizard who had helped the Elementalists to attack the mermaid lake intervened to arrest the daemon. Instead of killing him immediately, he made the daemon his slave by attaching the slave emblem to the daemon's back.

In the end, the cruel daemon became helpless and became an outlet for the mix-blood wizards who couldn't use their magic carelessly. The daemon's body was tortured at will, effecting the daemon's soul and mentally destroyed.

Seeing this scene made the serpentine feel even sadder. Previously the daemon was a cheerful and naughty creature. The daemon is good friends with Merylin and never injures other beings weaker than him. She could feel it because this one daemon was very special.

Since childhood, this daemon has never tasted blood. He never even ate evil spirits or human souls. He grew up on regular human food or plants he encounters. You could say this daemon is a 'vegetarian' when compared to other evil spirit daemons.

But that night, the daemon changed because of the hatred that took over his heart. Flynn ate dozens of human souls, making him a devil and no longer a vegetarian daemon. And now, within the slave symbol's support on its back, the daemon is also slowly dying and has no motivation to live.

Even if the wizards who locked him up decided to release him, Flynn would not be back to normal. He will become an even more cruel daemon than ever be and will not stop eating human souls or evil spirits. The only option she could do was to kill Flynn… ending the daemon's suffering.

In the end, the serpentine fell asleep in her position without knowing her presence was being awaited by Niken and the others.
