"…I only missed the last shot."
Korral was telling everyone about her last test. Since Glandriel couldn't remember just yet.
It was about dinner time Korral finished telling her story. We spent about an hour so far talking.
There were a few different pieces of furniture surrounding the couch that Korral, Glandriel and I shared. A couple chairs and two couches. Each couch was occupied by a different family. Pax and Kaalm on one and Rin and Zinleth on the other.
Before we ate dinner, I sent a telepathic message to the adults that we needed to have a talk.
"Korral and Glandriel, can you two wash up and head to the dining room? We are going to have a small chat with your friend Kear here."
Pax seemingly got better at acting. I guess of how sudden it was before got to him.
"Kear we will meet you there."
"My mom can be a little scary sometimes."
Those kids. I just nod to let them know I will be fine.
---
Once they leave I decided we needed to have a private conversation. As usual I froze time and began to speak.
"It is nice to meet you all again. First let me tell you that I am only here to learn in the school here. I guess it is an academy. Either way, I have not told your children who I am, nor do I plan to. I hope that we can keep it that way."
I wait for them to acknowledge that.
"I have bad news and worse news. What do you want first?"
Rin was the first to speak up.
"Can you tell us the worse news?"
I nod and recreate the four sets of lists of the ten names that were involved with the premeditated murder of Glandriel.
"In front of each of you are ten names. It is your choice what you do with these names."
I pause to let them look at the names.
"Kaalm isn't the one on the top of the list the spymaster for the king?"
"Yes that is him Pax."
"Kear… these name… what are you showing them to us for?"
Zinleth asked me that.
"There is a lot of discrimination against non-humans in that academy. You saw that Glandriel was injured. He would have been seriously injured or died if I hadn't minimized the damage, so that he would survive. The names on that list are all the people involved with that."
"I will say that I could have prevented Glandriel from being harmed, but that was the best way to get the teachers involved. If conspirators had failed then, they would have come after Glandriel again. There is a lot of discrimination against non-humans in that academy. Rin and Zinleth I let Glandriel get hurt. I did it to help him grow. I can only apologize and hope that you don't hold it against me."
Rin was about to go on a warpath, the rage in her eyes. Zinleth had had a scornful look. Pax and Kaalm didn't look any better.
"I will let you know that I won't let either of your kids die in that school. That will never happen. If they get hurt or hurt others, that will be on them. I hope you can understand."
"I will also remind you that you have the choice what you want to do with the information I have given you. If you need more I can give that to you, but I will not be involved in anything that may turn physical."
---
"I am going to kill them all."
"Rin just calm down for now. Kear what other information can you give us?"
Zinleth, I can understand why you married Rin now. That evil smile you are showing me is similar to Rin's. Though I can see those eyes of contempt.
"Anything."
Rin and Zinleth are about to destroy everything.
"I know how serious this is. Though I need you all to remember after this that you are eating dinner with your children after this, so try to calm down."
"The bad news I want to talk about, is the fountain. The statue to be exact. Who is that supposed to be?"
I look Pax and Kaalm in the eyes.
"We wanted to memorialize you, so we made a statue of you. Is there something wrong with it?"
"Pax, that thing needs to be destroyed."
"What do you mean?"
It seems I was able to turn everyone's rage into a perplexed emotion. At least I could calm them down.
"The statue on the fountain must be changed. It can be anything, just not me. Other than you four, no living being will have a memory of it ever being me."
"What?"
All four of them were surprised, but after a moment they realized who they were talking to.
Pax took a moment before coming up with the perfect statue. Once Rin heard it she agreed too.
"An apple."
The other must have heard stories, so they understood too. Well I changed it and only us five in the universe would remember that it used to be a statue of me.
"While I didn't like that statue, I know there is a more important matter. No matter what you decide, I will protect the kids for the next five years. I will give you this. It will have all ten names on there and any relevant information about them."
I gave them a tech pad that had ten different tabs with the names of each individual. It would tell them their location, show current up to the day picture, strengths, weaknesses, age, and more. I destroyed the paper in their hands with a harmless purple flame. Well harmless to anything, but those pieces of paper.
I showed them how to use it. They had never seen anything like it. I guess, Rin and Zinleth saw different things in my void room.
"One more thing I forgot. Rin and Zinleth have already been there, but Pax and Kaalm I would like to show you my home. They had been there when Glandriel had talked to them. I also told the same to Korral, so if she ever wants to contact you, then I'll bring you there. I did tell them it was more for emergencies though, so I am not sure when she would. I will show you four around before we head to dinner."
I teleported them to my void room.
In front of the comfy chair and couch was a table. Further ahead was a game console and a modestly sized tv. The game console isn't necessary at all, but who cares. To the left was the pc that made rainbow colored lights in this dark grey interior. It was hard to tell if there were wall, but the carpet helped Kaalm who had vertigo. I didn't find out about that until he looked down. Then I made the carpet. To the right was a kitchen with a sink, countertop, and refrigerator. Behind my chair was the door that I created that left Rin and Zinleth talk to Glandriel.
"I know it is dark in here, but I enjoy it. What do you all think?"
I used my mind to help ease Kaalm's uneasiness.
"It is really dark in here. Why are different colors coming out of that thing?"
Rin asked me that. I guess it was a good idea to give them the full tour.
---
I spent the next hour explaining and showing them around. I explained that I took the chair from Jenavor's guild room. They understood the sink and refrigerator as they had something similar back on that world. I explained the tv to them and what a video game was. I showed them how to play the fighting game. They instantly got into it. Rin beat everyone at the game.
I told them to relax since no time has passed since we started talking. Depending on what they do with the information I gave them, it might take all they have. I wanted to at least give them a relaxing moment. I also decided to give everyone an item like a smaller wrist sized tech pad. It would only be able to take pictures though. I thought they might like to capture some moments with the family. It can make a slideshow if they wanted to shelve the tech pad like a picture frame.
Zinleth was still tense, so I tried getting him to calm down. Based on how the humans acted at that school, I am sure he has faced discrimination too. That could be why he can't calm down.
"Zinleth could you take a deep breath for me?"
It seems that was enough to get a small smile from him. I hope that it gets better for him and everyone he cares for.
---
We spent a few hours up there and everyone was getting hungry. I teleported them back to the room.
"Once I snap my fingers I will unfreeze time. No time has passed. So we just need to talk for a couple minutes and then I will follow you to the dining room. "
*Snap*
