The atmosphere in the royal palace became very tense in the blink of an eye! They all sat still glancing each other repeatedly, except Felix.
His imagination went back to the past when he was a carefree College student. The day he first met his first love, Cara Laria. A poor, simple and kind orphan who always finds happiness even in the smallest things.
Five years ago, she was the only woman Felix ever dreamed of! She was the one who could offer him a refuge from his boring and strict life. At that time, she was his only paradise!
Because of his social status, Felix was afraid that the woman he loves would be placed under a pressure; so their relationship was a secret. No one knows about them, but a very few close friends and his family.
They dated for a whole year but passed away strangely! She was found dead in her own home. The police concluded the case as a suicide because they found a suicide note in her house.
Everyone believed it, but Felix. That cheerful woman with an angelic heart would suddenly commit suicide out of nowhere? That makes no sense!
His family indeed disapprove of her. She was also forced a few times to leave him, but her love for him was stronger than all the oppositions she faced! So, his family never succeeded in separating them.
They were determined to keep their relationship alive but the woman suddenly died. To go through the death of his lover was so much for Felix!
The close friends who were aware of the relationship said that it was a miracle that the man survived! He was a living corpse at that time!
Recalling all those sleepless nights and the mentally excruciating pain, Felix could feel the familiar heartache which haunted him for the past four years! The nightmares, tears, heartbreak and loss of hope in life; he was once a completely broken man!
"Why would you mention the woman who commits suicide and left you?" The Queen nervously said.
Felix tightly clenched his fists when he heard the word 'suicide'. "How many times do I have to say that Cara's death was not suicide?" He spat out each word clearly and firmly.
He hated himself for not finding any proof even after digging for 4 whole years! But he had already made a promise. He will surely find out the truth behind her death no matter what!
"The case was concluded as a suicide. It's been four years!" The Queen exclaimed. How long will her son cling onto that case? When will he finally let go?
"Is that so? If her death was indeed a suicide, then you're not innocent too, Mother. You were the one who pressures Cara and makes her life difficult just because she loves me!" Prince Felix stated with a dangerously low voice.
His deadly gaze was fixed on his mother who never shows any sympathy for the poor orphan who used to own her son's heart.
"Felix! How dare you say that! Apologize to your mother. Right now!" King Lawrence rose from his seat with rage.
Princess Gianna gently holds her younger brother, the King, on his arm trying to mediate the situation. "Calm down, Lawrence. You know how Felix cherished the deceased girl. We must try to understand him." She calmly said.
King Lawrence admired and respected his older sister since he was a child. So, he never ignored her words. He sits down again though he was still very disappointed with his son.
"It's time that you come to your sense. How long will you behave like a spoiled kid?" The King said again but his voice was much calmer than before.
"No matter what you say, I will never let Yelena be mistreated like Cara. This time, I will protect the woman I love."
He was only 21 when he fell for Cara. He was just a student who relies on his parents. But now, he was an independent 26 years old man who can decide on his own life!
But when he thought about Yelena, he had a feeling that she would never let herself be mistreated. She was a tough and independent woman. The feeling put him at ease.
Felix rose from his seat and was about to leave the room but decided that he should at least tell them his plan. "I'm returning to Silveren now. It will take a few weeks...no...atleast two months for me to be back here." He lazily said and turned his back at his family.
"But you only get here. Why won't you stay for a while?" Princess Gianna asked him right away as she was afraid that the arguments would continue if the King or Queen disagree with him.
Felix turned around when he heard his aunt's gentle and warm voice. Even if he ignored everyone else, he was never rude to this elegant and kind woman. In fact, he was always considerate of her.
"I'm sorry, aunty. But unfortunately, the female Army officer who got shot at the Peace Day was my girlfriend. She is currently recuperating from her injury. I should be with her." Felix stormed out of the room before anyone could say anything.
Everyone on the room glanced at each other in surprised. Was that why the Crown Prince looked so tired? Was he looking after the woman this whole time?
Suddenly, a hint of guilt and anxiousness was evident in their face, feeling a bit regret for how they just treated the man who looked after his sick lover!
* * *
It was almost midnight at Silveren. Yelena was still up because she cannot sleep no matter how she tried.
She cannot reach Felix the whole day. What's taken him so long? He surely said that he would be back very soon. She called him many times but failed to connect each time.
Did something happen to him? Everyone knows that Silveren was not safe for him. Just the thought of him being in danger could make Yelena shudder.
She tried to convince herself that nothing would happen to him. He was strong and skilled enough to protect himself. But she became more and more anxious as each minute passed, which proved that all her efforts were futile!
For a split second, she even thought the possibility of him leaving her! But she brushed off the thoughts right away. She didn't even want to have such a dangerous feeling!
Then suddenly, the door of her hospital room was opened. Her gaze was shifted to the door as swift as lightning. She then saw a familiar face standing on the door with a worried look on his face.
When he saw the woman who was anxiously waiting for him, Felix can't help but walk towards her hurriedly with his long legs. "What's wrong?" He asked her as he gently caressed her face.
"I thought that something bad happened to you. You never leave me alone for this long. I even thought that...you left me." She trailed off with a low yet hoarse voice.....
