Chapter 161 - If Everything Is To Be Exposed

Staring at the report on her hand, Yelena tightly clenched her fist and pound it on her desk again and again.

It's 3 in the evening and she was alone in her office. Though she attended meetings after meetings for the whole day, she couldn't pay attention because she was waiting for this report. Now that it had finally came out, it hit her hard than she could even imagine!

The voice from that video and the voice she recorded last night was proven to be matched by the expert. Lt. General Haric Geraci was the one who tortured and threatened her brother and his friends!

"Why did things turned out this way?!" She grunted as she squeezed the corner of the report.

What would she do?! She wasn't even sure! When Colonel Maverick died, she felt like she had lost all her way. She thought that that feeling was the worse but she was wrong. What she felt now was even worse!

Then she heard the sound of her door being knocked. Taking a deep breath, she quickly put away the files and responded, "Come in."

Jason Moravsky came in and they both settled on the couch.

"Mrs. Corell said that you don't have any meetings left for today. She wants me to discuss an important matter with you." Jason said to her.

"Important matter? Is there something urgent?" Yelena promptly asked.

"It's not business matters but about you. Mrs. Corell is quite worried about you." Jason cautiously said and Yelena raised a brow.

What did she do to make her assistant worry? She didn't remember herself going off the radar in all matters. "What do you mean?" She asked with a confused face.

"It's about your safety, Chairwoman. After that abduction, not only Mrs. Corell but your family members also worried about you a lot. You refused to have a driver, let alone bodyguards to protect you. We are afraid that history might repeat itself." Jason explained. There was a hint of concern in his voice and expression.

This matter? Yelena thought that this talk was already over. She had a long talk and even an argument with Mrs. Corell when this matter was brought up two days ago. For now, she might be the Acting Chairwoman of the largest Corporation in Silveren; but she still valued her freedom.

"I already talked with Mrs. Corell and told her that I prefer a quiet life. Why would you bring it up again?" Though her voice remained calm, there was a slight frown on her face.

"I understand how you feel, so I came up with a new term. How about this? Considering that you value your privacy, instead of getting a driver and bodyguards, I will find one capable person to serve as both your driver and bodyguard." Jason made a deliberate pause and observed her expression. "You will be okay with letting just a single person tag along, right?" He asked.

"I can protect myself and even others if necessary," Yelena argued. Though Jason's suggestion wasn't bad, she wasn't sure if she would be able to adjust herself to such a lifestyle again. She didn't feel excited either.

"I know that, but being cautious is good not to have regrets, Chairwoman. You might make mistake again like the day you were abducted or you might even trust the wrong person without knowing them. I'm just being cautious." Jason earnestly said.

Though he didn't know the whole story of Yelena's abduction, he could sense right away that there's something strange. The police didn't get involved at all and that triggered his suspicion right away. However, he understood that he wasn't in a position to asked the details. But still, he admitted that he was curious. That made him more determined to put her under protection.

The way Jason talked, it was as if he knew everything. It instantly made Yelena feel troubled. She knew that Alonzo was taken care of but... Lt. General Haric was still there! Colonel Maverick died and the case was still unsolved even now. She didn't know how much more hidden enemies were around her and being careful won't be harmful.

After pondering for a while, she finally sighed in defeat. "Fine. Just one person, right? I will accept that."

Jason slightly smiled out of relief. He was quite afraid that she would continue to be stubborn. "Now that you agree, I hope you can let this person accompany you everywhere, be it a business or personal matter. It's to keep you safe." He added.

"I never know that you are the nosy type." Yelena jokingly remarked.

Jason lightly chuckled at her words. "I have not even finished talking. I want to tell you that I already arranged everything in case you accept. So, he will start accompanying you from now on. He's capable and reliable. So, you don't have to worry."

Yelena blinked at his words. "Already?"

Jason only nodded.

"You mean right now?"

He nodded again which made her frowned.

"I think you have too much free time." She bluntly remarked and Jason chuckled.

"All these are also included in my work. I already promised your mother that I will use all my efforts to assist you. So, just think of it as my way of keeping a promise." Jason mused.

Yelena remained quiet for a while and said, "I trust you so I bet the one you choose will also be reliable and trustworthy."

"I'm honoured." Jason formally said and glanced at the door. "Then I'll call him here to introduce him to you." He said and called the man in question.

After around two minutes, the door was knocked and one young man in a black suit made his way to Yelena and Jason. Then he bowed.

"This is Alan Cavani. He is the best among the guards that used to be responsible for your mother's safety." Jason introduced the young man.

Yelena rose from her seat and reached out her hand to her new guard. "Jason insisted, so let's get along well." She said with a slight smile.

"I will give my all to ensure your safety, Chairwoman." Alan Cavani said as he accepted the handshake and bowed.

"He will be on duty near this office next to Mrs. Corell." Jason informed Yelena and the latter simply nodded.

After both the two men left her office, Yelena sat still, staring at the report again for minutes. Though she didn't have meetings left for the day, she still has many works but she couldn't concentrate. That's why she ended up taking out the report again.

When something crossed her mind, she glanced at her wristwatch. It was almost 4 in the evening and she called someone and asked to meet.

She left her office and as Jason said, Alan started accompanying her. For business purposes, she didn't use her jeep car anymore and instead, she bought the latest model of Lexus ES car. Alan drove the car and they set off to their destination.

After almost an hour ride, Yelena reached a coffee shop which was just a few metres away from the base of the Rayvix Special Forces. After telling Alan to wait for her outside, she entered the coffee shop where Arias was waiting for her.

The Deputy Commander was in his uniform and judging from the look on his face, it was clear that something was troubling him. Yelena told him that she finds out some information and maybe that's what troubled him. He can't stop wondering about what the information might be.

Yelena approached him and slightly bowed. "Deputy Commander." She greeted him and took a seat opposite to him.

"What is the information that you're talking about?" Arias promptly asked her. He was more than curious.

"Do you remember what you said to me yesterday?" Yelena asked in a low voice. "You told me that the truth will end up hurting everyone. You said that we might regret."

"Why are you suddenly saying that?" Arias asked in a confused face.

"After you left, I can't brush those words off my mind. They repeatedly echoed in my ears." It was the same thing that tormented her lover and that's why it haunted her more. She knew how much the truth took a toll on Felix.

Her eyes that were narrowed at the table the whole time, were now raised and she looked at Arias. "Last night, I finally realized why you said that and today, I even prove it."

"What do you mean, Yelena? Are you trying to say that you find out - "

"Lt. General Haric Geraci. The father of your lover, the father of my best friend. Is he the reason why you said those words to me?" She asked, interrupting Arias. It was the first time she cuts him off while he was talking!

Arias's eyes grew wide when he heard her. How did she even know to suspect him? No... She said that she proved it today!

Ella crossed her mind and Yelena continued by saying, "You're talking like that because you know the truth. What's more? If everything is to be exposed, the one who suffered the most will be Ella."
