Felix was in his room, thinking about the official investigation that will start the next day. Now that he had revealed all the truth, he was sure that he won't have a quiet day very soon. He was okay with it but... what about Yelena? This question made him let out a sigh.
Then the door to his room was knocked and his parents walked inside. The look on their faces proved their concern for their only son.
"Mother, Father, please have a seat," Felix said as he ushered his parents to the couch. Then they all took a seat.
"It will be so hard for you, son. Why did you keep everything to yourself?" Queen Nicola muttered, glancing at her son with pity.
Felix didn't know what his mother was talking about. He was sure that they were informed of everything right after the incident. As such, he glanced at his father, seeking help.
"We just heard about Cayden." King Lawrence said. "When he wasn't around, we simply thought that you gave him some tasks. We have no idea of what happened to him."
Felix narrowed his eyes when he heard his father. "I don't want to make you worry. That's why."
Seeing her downhearted son, the Queen was heartbroken. She rose from her seat and sat next to her son. Then she holds his hands. "Felix, I'm sorry, my son. As a mother, I never know how much you suffer. I should look after you and try to know everything about you but... " The Queen made a deliberate pause as she was too ashamed of all her actions. "Ignoring your sufferings, I hurt you all these years. Please forgive your unworthy mother, my son. I'm sorry for not trusting you."
Felix slowly shifted his gaze to his mother. When he saw her tears, he couldn't bear it! As such, he breaks free from her grip. "Don't say that, Mother. I never blamed you." He calmly said as he gently wiped her tears away.
Queen Nicola lifted her hands and touched her son's face. He had become so thin in just a few days! Dark circles were forming around his eyes which signified his lack of sleep. She couldn't hold back herself and suddenly embrace her son. She shut her eyes and took a deep breath. "I will never doubt you again. I will trust you and support you no matter what. I - "
"Those are the words I always wish to hear the most from you, Mother," Felix uttered as he returned the hug and tightened his grip. The unfamiliar feeling which his mother provided him made him felt warm and he didn't want to let it go!
Her son's words broke the Queen's heart and shattered into a thousand pieces! As a mother, she realized how she was never a strength for her son and the realization hit her hard than any other things! How desperate would he felt to say those words! Just the thought of it tormented her!
She can't utter any more word but she caressed the back of her son's head while still embracing him. She hoped that she could at least provided him with some warmth and she didn't fail.
Felix holds onto his mother for a long time, refusing to let her go. He had never felt such a strong motherly love throughout his life and at some point, he even felt like he was dreaming!
For five whole years, he had always wished for his mother to tell him that she trusted him. He had often dreamed of that. Now, that dream had finally come true! It wasn't too late but... the price was so high!
"I was wrong, son. I thought that I did the right thing by letting you being dragged away and locked you up that day. I thought that I was protecting you. I should have thought about your feelings. I'm truly sorry." The King also apologized when he watched them. He was too ashamed of his actions and it pained him more than ever!
Felix turned to his Father and nodded. He had always known that it was his father's way of protecting him. However, he always resented his father's action because the latter did that without thinking about his feelings! In their view, it was protection but to him, it was worse than death!
After a few more chat, his parents finally left his room. However, Felix felt like he had finally regained his energy. He even felt like a new person. Were his mother's love and trust that strong?
For the first time in many days, a subtle smile was on his face and he let out a breath. It was almost 8 p.m. in Edeladon, so it will be almost 6 in Silveren. He decided to call Yelena. He recalled how their call in the afternoon ended and he was quite worried about her.
*
Yelena was still working with Jason Moravsky in her hotel suite. Her mother had more current projects than she thought and each one of them was very big. As such, she had many things to study.
When her phone went off, she didn't expect much but when she glanced at the caller ID, her eyes widened and she blinked. "I have to take this call." She promptly said to Jason as she rose from her seat. Then she quickly picked up the call.
"Felix." She uttered his name and Jason shifted his gaze to her. But he paid his attention back to work very soon.
"Yelena, are you home now?" Felix promptly asked her from the other line.
"I decided to stay at a hotel for a while. I'm currently in one of my mother hotels." Yelena replied. She approached the glass wall and stood next to it.
"Seems like things won't calm down easily. Will you be okay with staying there?" Felix asked. He was sitting in the armchair near the fireplace, paying all his attention to the phone call.
"Yeah. It's quite nice here. My belongings are also brought here a few minutes ago. I will be fine even if I stayed here for a few days."
"That's a relief." Felix learned a bit backwards pressing his back against the back support of the armchair. "I feel very good now, Yelena." He added as he slightly smiled for the second time in many days.
For a split second, Yelena thought that she heard him wrong. Was this her hallucination? But she was sure that it wasn't. "Are you sick? I think you should see a doctor." Her voice was filled with concern for him. Had he gone mad?!
Felix's smile grew a bit wider at her words. What was she thinking? "What doctor?" He asked out of curiosity. He could tell her that he never felt this fine in the last few weeks and also what happened just now. But he was curious about what she was thinking!
"Do you want me to arrange a good psychiatrist for you? It might be helpful for you." Yelena frankly responded but... what she heard the next thing made her froze!
Did she just hear him chuckle? It was just a light chuckle but she was sure that she heard it. No! He had really gone mad!
"This is not good. I will come right away and arrange a psychiatrist for you." She promptly said and turned around, trying to rush out until... she heard his voice.
"Do you think that I have gone crazy?"
She instantly halted and put the phone nearer to her ear. "What did you say?"
Felix fell silent for a while and said, "I'm feeling better, Yelena. After a while, I will be back to my normal self." He paused and slightly smiled. "About consulting a psychiatrist, I already did that and it's very helpful. I am able to muster up my courage due to his advice."
Yelena stood still, trying to process what she just heard. After what seemed to be forever, she asked, "Are you really feeling better? I won't forgive you if you lied to make me feel better. I hate it when you pretend to be fine." She was too fixated on the call and she already forgets the presence of someone. However, Jason Moravsky was still working on the files and only glanced at her from time to time.
"I talked with my mother and it helped me a lot." Felix calmly said. "Trust me. I'm telling the truth." He wondered how much his absence for weeks took a toll on her. It became very hard to convinced her now!
However, he became a bit anxious when she remained quiet. "Yelena." He called her name after few seconds.
"I'm so glad." She finally spoke up. "I thought that I won't be able to hear you chuckle again. I was so scared that your smile will be gone forever."
"I already promised that I will recover and become stronger for you," Felix said. "You won't need to wait for long anymore. I will meet you soon."
