Chapter 200 - The Fates Of The Traitors

The trial held in the highest court of the country set the fates of the traitors in stone. Countless reporters from all around the world and many citizens of Silveren gathered outside the court, awaiting the court decision.

After two hours of trial, the court declared its decision. Lt. Gen. Haric and his followers such as Major General Richard, Sergeant Kayce, Major General Jonan and Major General Godin were all sentenced to life imprisonment.

Along with the evidence submitted by Yelena; Sergeant Korin and Nolan Iselin also testified which helped the court to make the decision right away.

The same day, the military authorities declared their decision to reinstate Nolan Iselin back to his post. He will also be compensated for all the damage he suffered. All those who took part in revealing the truth were honoured by the army and they also received promotions.

The decision of the trial covered the world faster than ever. The whole world was talking about this and aside from the names of the criminals; Yelena, Morris, Arias, Nolan and Sergeant Korin were also the talk of the world. How the Crown Prince of Edeladon shield the witness to helped his fiancee was also revealed which dragged their love story to the public once again. However, Ella's name and identity were concealed according to her wish.

In the Headquarters of the Silveren Army, a few soldiers gathered after an event to promote and honour the soldiers was over. Yelena was in her uniform talking with Arias and Morris and some others.

"I'm happy that you became the youngest to be ever promoted to a Major in our army history but... that means you can't lead Team Delta anymore," Morris said to Yelena with a hint of displeasure on his face.

Yelena laughed when she saw Morris reaction. She pointed her chin at the three stars on his shoulders which was proof that he was now a Captain and not a Lieutenant. "You might become the new Captain of Team Delta. I talked with the Commander and said that it will be good if someone familiar can leads the team. You are the only and best choice."

Captain Morris blinked in surprise. "You did that? How come I don't know anything?"

Captain Yelena who was now Major Yelena slightly frowned. "Do I have to report everything to you?" Before Morris could say anything, she turned to Arias. "You became the youngest Brigadier in our army history. I'm so happy for you but... that means you can't be a Deputy Commander anymore."

Her words were very similar to Morris which made the latter frowned.

"Thanks, Yelena. Where we work is not important as long as we do a good job." With a smile, Brigadier Arias said, "As long as work for the well-being of the people and the country, everywhere is fine."

"I don't know where I will be transferred but I would really love to join the Rayvix too. It's the most elite division of our Forces where everyone wishes to work." Sergeant Korin who was now a Lieutenant expressed his desire.

"Now, Morris position in Team Delta is vacant. You might get the chance as you're now a Lieutenant." Brigadier Arias responded. "I also heard that a new Deputy Commander who will replace me will join today."

Yelena raised a brow. "So soon?"

Arias nodded. "Rayvix is the heart of our Forces. Any post is never vacant for long. Shall we go there and wrapped up things? It will be great to meet the new Deputy Commander too."

Yelena promptly nodded. "I'd love that."

When they reached the base, Yelena went straight to her office to pack her things while Morris and Arias went to see the Commander.

After packing up her things, Yelena stood on the ground and glanced around the vast base. She will miss this place though she spent just a year here. She had many good memories.

She narrowed her eyes at her uniform and the rank badge of a Major on her shoulder. She had come so far but... will she really be able to part with this uniform? The thought of it pained her. Serving her country and protecting the people was always her greatest joy.

While she was lost in her thought, Morris came running to her and halted when he stood in front of her. "It's really happening, Captain! I'm appointed to be the new Captain of Team Delta!" He exclaimed with excitement written all over his face.

Yelena's face instantly brightened up at the news. "Really? I'm so happy for you, Morris. I can be at ease if Team Delta falls under your responsibility."

Morris grinned from ear to ear but when he realized something, it turned to an appealing smile. "Oh! I still call you 'Captain' while you're already a Major. I think I have grown accustomed to it."

Yelena only smiled at his words and Morris continued. "You know what, just as Brigadier Arias said, Lt. Korin is really appointed to be the new Vice-Captain of Team Delta! This is great!"

"Lead Team Delta to a whole new level, Captain Morris. You should make me proud and maintain our glory." Yelena firmly said.

Hearing her, Morris stood in attention and saluted her. "Understood! I won't let you down!"

"I will look forward to it," Yelena said and chuckled while Morris released his hand and let out a laughter.

"Are you done? I was told that the new Deputy Commander is in his office. Let's go and meet him." Brigadier Arias said when he approached them.

"You can go ahead. I will meet him later with the other team members." Morris promptly said. When Yelena nodded, he went to the office of Team Delta.

"Let's go," Arias said and they made their way to the Deputy Commander's office.

"I'm reminded of the time I came with Ella to greet you for the first time," Yelena uttered and laughed. "I don't know about your relationship but Ella was quite rude. I was afraid that she would get on your bad side but it turned out that you're her boyfriend."

Arias chuckled at her words. "She said we should act like strangers, so it made me wanted to tease her. She controlled herself well than I thought. Before that meeting, I was convinced that she would lose her composure right away if I provoke her. You know, she's quite domineering."

"I've witnessed her dating before but you're the only one who can make her yield. That means she loves you enough to change herself." Yelena calmly said.

"I know. She's studying hard these days. After visiting her father in prison, she has slowly regained her liveliness. My parents also supported her a lot." Arias told Yelena. He knew that the two friends were both caught up with their lives these days and they rarely met up. So, he wanted to ease Yelena.

Yelena smiled when she heard that her friend was doing well. "I'm glad. As you know, I don't have much time left in this country. Please take good care of Ella after I left for Edeladon." Her lips curved into a smile when she said, "Though I know that you will do it even if I don't ask."

Arias chuckled at her last sentence and they already find themselves on the door of the Deputy Commander's office. Then Yelena knocked on the door.

"Come in."

They opened the door and walked inside. The new Deputy Commander was standing near the desk, arranging some files. When he turned around, Yelena's eyes flickered.

"Lt. Col. Lucas Waren?" The name escaped her lips before she could even realize.

That friendly superior whom she met in the state of Silvervale was the new Deputy Commander?! He was the one who said that they had many things in common as he was the grandson of the former General.

Lucas Waren smiled when he saw the familiar face. "Captain, no... It's Major Yelena Arista now." He briefly narrowed his eyes at the rank badge on his shoulder when he said, "Just like I'm a Colonel now, not a Lt. Colonel." There was a playful smile on his face.

When he turned to the Brigadier, he instantly recognized him as Arias was his direct senior at the National Military Academy. Then he saluted the Brigadier.

"I don't know that it was you, Lucas," Arias said with a little smile on his face.

"It turned out this way," Lucas said. "Have a seat."

They all took a seat on the chairs and Colonel Lucas quickly turned to Yelena. "You have become so popular in such a short time." He remarked.

Ever since he saw Colonel Maverick kneeling before a Captain that night, the scene couldn't stop bothering him but there was nothing he could do. He only understood when the news about the plotting of the military regime was reported a few weeks ago.

Colonel Maverick was the one who knew everything all those years while Yelena's brother was the first victim. Everything became clear to him.

"You're still friendly and playful," Yelena responded when she heard his remark.

"You seem to be close," Arias spoke up. To be honest, he didn't expect them to know each other.

"We met when I went to Silvervale for a demo inspection." Yelena promptly said.

"I just joined here but it's a pity that the pride of this Special Force won't be here anymore. It would be great to work with you, Major Yelena." Colonel Lucas said, turning to the Major.

"My former team members will still be here. You won't be disappointed with their abilities. I can vouch for them." Yelena's voice was calm yet it screamed confidence.

Colonel Lucas nodded in satisfaction. "If you say so, then I have no doubt."

The chat goes on for a few minutes where the three soldiers spend their time chatting and discussing their work and the past merits of the Rayvix Special Forces.

When Yelena left the base with her car, she saw Felix near the gate, pressing his back against his car. She slightly smiled thinking about how he loved to show up unannounced.

She gets off her car and when the Prince's gaze landed on her, he rushed to her with an exciting smile.

Standing right in front of her, he quickly holds her hand. "You're finally done. I have great news for you."
