Jordan got a studio apartment in Manhattan, for Lana and was true to his word. He wooed her until she fell in love with him all over again. She was totally smitten; more than before, because she got to see the other side of him-the gentle, sweet, thoughtful side. Flowers were sent to her apartment twice a day and always had a sweet note attached to them, he took her to out to so many places, whenever he could. Whenever he took her out he would deposit her safely at her doorstep and kiss her goodbye. He was the perfect gentleman-he would turn down her offers of a night-cap or spending the night and she didn't know whether to be glad or dismayed.
"So how's it going on the dating scene?" Jones teased as they sat at breakfast.
"It's good. Better than good actually," Jordan grinned.
"I never thought I'd see the day..." Jones muttered from behind his newspaper.
"How are things with you and Maggie?" Jordan took a sip of his orange juice. "It seems like I'm not the only one involved in a courtship of some sort." He laughed.
Jones lowered the newspaper, "She said I can come and join her and the kids for Christmas-that's all I'm going to say." He disappeared behind the paper again.
"Woow!" Jordan smacked the paper out of the way and teased Jones. "So is this like a recon? Baby come back?" he made kissing noises and laughed.
"Stop it! I knew I shouldn't have said anything to you." Jones grumbled and folded his arms.
"I'm happy for you Jay! Seriously though-I really am glad that you and Maggie decided to give it another shot. The kids must be thrilled?"
"Saying they're over the moon is an understatement." Jones face lit up. "I can't wait to spend Christmas with them again."
"Speaking of Christmas-we've got to get going." He wiped his mouth with a napkin and rose to his feet.
"So the White Christmas Wedding is still on?" Jones asked as he stood up.
"Yes. That's why we have to go and see Jamie." Jordan grabbed his winter coat and put it on.
"I wish I could have been there," He gave a wistful glance at his companion.
"I know Jay. But your family is more important." Jones squeezed his shoulder before hopping into the SUV. "But you might be able to attend though. I decided to do it on Christmas Eve instead. So you can show up at the ceremony and fly to Denver immediately after. You can use the jet if you want."
"I think that can work. Thanks, JC." Jones smiled. "Don't forget you have the Teen Choice Awards tomorrow night?"
"I totally forgot about that!" Jordan slapped his forehead as he suddenly remembered.
"We have lunch with Ryan today. He said I should remind you." Jones said.
"I have so much to do and so little time," Jordan groaned. "I still have to take Lana bowling tonight."
"I'm glad you two have finally worked things out. She's good for you. I never thought I would see this side of you." Jones chuckled softly. "Wonders never cease.."
"I know I don't deserve her but I'm going to at least try. I will obviously mess up because this is all new to me-but she's totally worth it." Jordan nodded.
"Yes. She totally is." Jones laughed, earning him a punch on the shoulder.
"Shut up Jones."
Lana sat on the bathroom floor and stared at the stick..willing it to change the result that was reflecting right now. She couldn't understand how this happened? The doctor told her that she couldn't possibly get pregnant and yet the double-lines in front of her eyes told her otherwise. Maybe she should go and make an appointment with her OB just to be sure. Yes that's exactly what she would do-she would go to a professional that would tell her that she was hallucinating.. And that's exactly what she did.
"Congratulations Mrs Carter!" The OB walked into the ward and gave her the test results.
"Are you sure Doctor??" Lana was quite emphatic in her expression of disbelief in that possibility.
"Yes. The results are conclusive. Unless you want us to take another-"
"No..that won't be necessary..it's just that after my miscarriage they told me-it doesn't matter.." She slid off the bed and removed the gown.
"There's always a chance Lana. You should be glad. Most people don't get this opportunity ever again." The doctor pointed out.
"I am glad..it's just unexpected that's all.." she shrugged.
"That's perfectly normal- I'll schedule your next appointment and maybe an ultrasound when you come with your husband?"
"Let me break the news to him first."
"I'm sure he will be happy with the news." Dr Andrews peered into the grim face of the young woman; there was not a flicker of a smile in it. "It's your first isn't it?"
"Yes. Yes, it is.."
"Babies usually bring joy into a home." Not this time Lana mused. "Even when you're not ready you will find that the maternal instincts kick in, so don't worry you will be fine." Dr. Andrews assured her that there was no ground for alarm.
"Thank you Dr Andrews. I'll see you again soon." Lana said as she wended her way out.
What was she going to do now? She and Jordan were getting on so well and things couldn't be better..now this happens. How was she going to break the news to him? Surely he would run for the hills again. She had no guarantee or indication that he had changed his mind about having children; especially after that call, he received from his father.
Lana sat in her car and was lost in her thoughts. The holidays were coming up and she didn't want to spoil them with this news. Then there was the issue of going back to college? What was she going to do? She was in a terrible dilemma. She decided to call her friends and then remembered they were probably on a plane on their way to New York; they were spending the holidays together.
"Hey Maya..are you at home? Can I come and see you?"
"Yeah..everything okay sweetie?"
"Not really..I'll explain when I get there."
"Okay. I'll put the kettle on for this one I think?"
"Yes..that will necessary."
"That bad huh?"
"Yeah.."
"Okay see you in a bit."
