Chapter 99 - Ch 99 : Confrontation

After the president left, Ray quickly went to the Morningwood Dungeon. There were many questions in his mind, and the most suitable place to ask it was inside the Morningwood Dungeon.

" System, can you explain what is currently happening to me?"Said Ray with a hint of confusion in his tone.

[ DING!!! Don't worry about it host, the all-nation competition that the president said before was just their speculation. Ray's phone rang, and Ray picked it up.

" Handsome boy!! It's me, your beloved Alyssa."

"If you continue to speak nonsense, then don't blame me for closing the call right now."

"*Sigh* Why can't you be a bit kinder? It is a beautiful woman that is calling you, okay?"

After the first few call, the relationship between Ray and Alyssa had been a lot closer, and now the two could talk directly without much nonsense.

Alyssa then stopped her joke and began to explain her condition to Ray.

From her explanation, It seemed that her family was planning an expansion and going to buy a lot of Dungeon exploration permits. And for that, they needed a huge supply of Ray's food that could help heal their injury in the Dungeon.

'Looks like she's really into it, huh.'

However, Ray didn't immediately agree with Alyssa's condition. He had consulted Ellen before, and Ellen said to stop and wait for a while. The other party's demand for his pudding was rising with every second passed by, and it wouldn't be long until they raised the price again.

The phone call was closed as Ray said he still needed some time to think. The two didn't reach an agreement, and there's no need to continue the phone call.

Ray then put down his phone and sighed. Looking back, he has come pretty far, didn't he?

He still clearly remember the time when the orphanage was struggling with money, and they needed to fasten their belt with every opportunity possible.

The orphanage was no longer lacking money, and the children could smile happily without any worries.

'It's all thanks to Ellen. Without her, I don't think I could make this much money so fast.'

Or should he feel grateful to the delinquents surrounding Ellen that day, so he could play hero and get acquainted with Ellen?

Ray let off a smirk.

Everything that is meant to be will happen, and if Ray and Ellen were really meant to meet, they would meet no matter the reason.

Ray was still in a nostalgic mood when he suddenly hear a sound coming from his stomach.

*SFX for an empty stomach rumbling*

'Is it time to eat already?'

Maybe because he was in a pretty relaxed mood right now, Ray didn't realize that he had not eaten lunch yet.

He was pondering about what to cook when Ray suddenly thought of something.

'Should I go eat outside, then?'

When life in the orphanage was still frugal, Ray and Big Sis cooked almost every day, and other than that one time with Ellen, Ray had never eaten in a high-class restaurant. Now that Ray was no longer lacking money, he had some thought about trying some good foods in the high-class restaurants.

Wearing simple, easy-to-move clothes, Ray left his home. A ten-minute Gojek's time, he had arrived at his destination already.

As soon as he stepped in through the door, the wide-open expense of the mall's interior entered his view. 

All Jakarta's mall was like this. The inside was very crowded with people, and Ray could see riches women showcasing their glamour shopping style everywhere.

Ray was just about to enter the lift to reach the highest floor of the mall when suddenly he felt his danger sense was ringing.

Without wasting any more time, Ray turned around his body and found an unfamiliar figure in a suit was looking at him with a smile on his face.

"Pardon me, are you Ray Sandjaja."

A rather friendly voice came from the man, but Ray's danger sense told him that this man's intention was not something simple.

'Who is he?'

Because of his danger sense, Ray became very wary of the man in front of him and had no intention of letting his guard down.

Seeing Ray didn't answer him, the man frowned a bit, but then he suddenly realized that he hadn't introduced himself yet.

" Ah.. my mistake. My name is Steve, a member of the Jakarta's awakener association."

"Steve from Jakarta's awakener association?"

A slight frown grew on Ray's face. If he was from the Jakarta awakener's association, why was Ray's danger sense triggered by this guy?

The man looked at Ray's expression, who didn't even let his guard down a bit after discovering his identity, and sighed. It seemed he needed to do it the hard way. 

"I did hear the news about you, Ray. One of the shining stars in Indonesia that the association's president wanted to endorse. But for now, I need you to follow me.."

Before Ray could even say something, the man had stuck out his hand in Ray's direction, trying to get a grip on Ray's neck.

Luckily, Ray's reaction was fast enough, and he was able to dodge the man by slightly tilting his body.

Then, Ray, who saw the man was still not giving up, knew that he had no other choice.

He used one of his hands to block the man's arm, while his other hand was locked in the man's neck.

" Tell me everything. If not, don't blame me for being merciless!"

Ray's voice sounded in the man's ear. Ray's tone was pretty indifferent, but it was like the sound of a grim reaper for the man.

Since he joined Jakarta's awakener association, he had used to act as he likes, and no normal awakener would oppose him. Opposing him meant that the other side was also opposing the associations, and normally no sane awakener would do this.

This time, however, was not the same, he had received an order to catch Ray from a higher-up in the government, and he wanted to use his position as a member of the association to force Ray.

But he never thought that Ray would be able to detect his malicious intention and reverse their situation like this.

Under Ray's hold, the man could not help but tremble.

" Hold- Hold up! I am a member of the association you.. AHHHHH!!"

Before the man could even finish his words, Ray tightened his choke on the man's neck.

" Say nonsense one more time, and I would make you wish you have never been born before!"

Ray was serious this time. 

For something like this, he wouldn't be playing around anymore. If he didn't teach this bastard to know his place, then what should Ray do if he actually tried to harm Big Sis and the other little guys in the orphanage.

For the first time in his life after he received the DM System, Ray felt so weak.

The man knew Ray was serious, and he should really consider his words carefully if he still wanted to live.

He calmed down himself a bit and said:

" Ray Sandjaja, I am here just as an envoy from the higher-ups in the government.. We want to investigate the accident happening to our agents in Lawang Sewu Dungeon before, and for that, your contribution is needed."
