Enjoy.
Beautiful things happen
in the dark.
When the sun goes
to sleep,
When the stars give
light kisses,
When the moon
is a spotlight.
Life stays beautiful
even when you
Are covered
In Darkness.

Regaining awareness of my surroundings I scrutinize the vicinity in apprehension, my body tensing in alertness of the foreign place. Cimmerian shade stretches for miles as far as the eye can see. A black ocean with no light, caging me in its fortress of perpetual darkness. I try to move my limbs but they're as stiff as a board. It's as though an unknown weight is pressing down on them. Suddenly a tremor violently shakes the ground. The vibrations wrack through my body, but there's nothing I could do, I can't move.
Momma I'm scared.
A supreme aura breaks forth with an almighty voice declaring:
"I am the Gate Keeper of Heavenly Pavillion. The Great Book has chosen you as a candidate to be its master. If you pass my trial, the treasure that awaits you, is yours." His overbearing aura renders me incapable of speech. I just sit there, looking like a dumbass with my mouth open and and eyes bulging.
Then a memory of mine that I hid away in the deepest part of my mind appears and I'm forced to relive that gruesome nightmare all over again.

Third person (POV)
The little girl around 7 years old was playing on a swing set in her backyard.
Her mom stood behind her pushing the little girl. The woman's eyes were upturned in laughter, a smile playing on her ruby lips.
"Smile for the camera!" Her father said. His boisterous laugh filled the air as the woman he loves and his precious daughter say 'Cheese'. It was the little girl's birthday. She'd just turn seven and so they wanted to have a little celebration. Just the three of them. In the evening they had a lovely dinner, relaying jokes and fond memories. The little girl had a fun and exciting birthday her rows of sparkling teeth with two missing in the front as she smiled brightly in happiness.
When it was time for bed she wore her favorite unicorn pyjamas. Her father played the guitar while her mother sang a lullaby. The young girl quickly drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.
Sadly, it didn't last for long.
In the middle of the night around 2 am a serial killer broke into the family's 3 bedroom home. Her mother awoke first from the noise of glass being smashed. She alerted her husband of her suspicions and he told her to call the police and then to go and grab An er, to find a place to keep her safe.
The dad went down stairs with a bat while the mom hid the little girl in a secret compartment inside her bedroom. Sadly it was only enough for the little girl to fit in. No one else.
"Mama, what's happening? Where's daddy?"
"Hush sweetie, don't say a word until either me or your father has come to get you. If you hear anyone else do not answer them. Do you understand."
"Yes mama. You're coming back to get me right?"
Hesistance filled the woman's eyes. She didn't want to lie to her daughter but, she was so young and she needed some hope to grasp onto, even if it's false.
"Yes, we will come back to get you. Now shush and hide. Like the game hide and seek. Don't make a sound."
The little girl nods her head and her mom closes the tiny door. Crashing sounds were heard from down stairs and then a gun shot. The mom raced to help her husband but by then it was too late. The love of her life layed there in a pool of his own blood. The killer was preoccupied with something else that he didn't notice when the woman picked up the baseball bat. She hit him in the back of his head with it hard but her attempt was feeble in stopping him.
"Shit!" He cussed. He leaned into the railings for support.
The woman made move to hit him again but he caught the bar. His sinister eyes filled with bloodlust as he gazed at her. A shudder ran down her spine.
They struggled for a while and then the gun fell on the floor. As the two dashed towards it they completely missed the 7 year old girl standing at the top of the staircase witnessing everything. She held a stuffed rabbit in her hands while pools of tears cluttered in her eyes.
"Daddy." She whispers.
The killer reached the gun first. Pointed it at her mom's head and fired. Blood splattered everywhere some landed on the killeres lips. He licked it off, like a sadist.
"MOMMY!" The child screamed. Salty tears streamed down her face.
"No Mommy!"
Her cry caught the killer's attention and he smiled a grin filled with evil intentions. Seeing him, the little girl ran but with her short legs and the man's long legs he easily caught up.
"Gotcha!" He whispered into her ear. His arms wrapped around her waist and the little girl screamed. She wiggled her body trying to escape but it was futile, until she started kicking. Her foot landed directly on the killer's most prized possession, his jewels. The killer ġrȯȧnėd, dropping her on the ground in the process.
"Son of a bitch!" She ran to her room slammed the door and locked it. Then she hid in the place where her momma hid her previously and locked the door to that too.
She used the darkness as camouflage, the only sound being heard were the footsteps of the scary man and her stiffled breathing.
Suddenly, the movements stopped. His feet stood right in front of her bedroom door.
BANG BANG BANG
His light knocking turned to heavy pounding as a maniacal laugh escaped his lips. The little girl was on the verge of tears.
"Open up little girl! I just wanna play a game."
