I am back in the library. Everything is calm and stable, a complete opposite to what I'm feeling on the inside. I wish I could be like the characters in the books I've read, they are so composed despite the odds being stacked against them, and here I am bȧrėly containing my anger.
Packing my things I leave the place. I've done enough reading for one day.
And as usual trouble always finds me. Turning through one of the corners I almost bump into Elizabeth but easily avoid her attempts at grabbing onto my clothes. I know what she's trying to do, and I am not easily messed with. So when she falls on the ground I fall ontop of her. Yes, be crushed under my weight. Hehe...
"Ahh!" We both scream.
"Elizabeth, oh my gosh. You should watch where you're going. Are you okay though?" I cast the blame fully on her before lending her a hand. My voice is full of concern.
A crowd has already started to form. A few familiar faces in the group. I smirk inside. Wonder how long it took her to plan this. Seems like someone tipped her off on when I was going to leave the library.
Looks like she didn't spend her time here being idle. As expected from a white lotus. Too bad the roles have changed. It's my story now, I'm the main character while you're just a pathetic little cannon fodder. A stumbling block for me to reach success. Don't forget that I am the real Melia, and I'm going to make sure you remember.
"It's fine Me- I mean Ms.Melia. I know you didn't mean to do it on purpose." How innocent, making the crowd think I purposefully knocked you over. And what's with the sudden bullied expression. Sadly she's been outsmarted, I already knew she was going to say something along those lines. And I already know how to counterattack. Trying to damage my reputation, dream on!
"What are you talking about Liz. Why are you calling Ms', we've known eachother since we were kids. I know that you may feel lesser considering your poor background, but I thought you grew out of that. I was just walking out of the library when you came running into me, and then you pulled me down with you when you fell, which was why I had landed ontop of you."
I quickly explained the situation leaving no room for her to interject as I used my spiritual powers to seal her mouth for the time being. I also didn't forget to tell people about her background. This school is full of arrogant, pompous nobles who have a dislike for those with a status lower than them. Though I may not feel that way considering my past, they do. And I have no qualms piggy backing off of their beliefs, to cause problems for Elizabeth. Ooo I'm an evil genius!
The crowd then gains understanding from the explanation and I can sense a shift in their attitudes, some looking at Elizabeth in contempt when they find the loopholes in her sentences.
"W-well when you put it like that I guess I was in the wrong. I'm sorry princess, please do not take offence from my ill-spoken words." Mmmm, we're going down the tragic bullying past act aren't we. Darling, I've seen and read that trope thousands of times. You can't out act the master.
Her saying don't take offence means if I ask her for an apology for her words, it is because I am tryinh to purposely pick on her. Making everyone think that I'm a tyrant who abuses her power to opress people weaker than her. Too bad that enrage potion she tried to get me to inhale, when she fell is useless on me. I'm immune to it. And from my knowledge I am very calm. No anger in sight.
"You're so silly, do I look like someone who bullies people. I've just arrived at this school, I don't even have any friends yet. Your words make it seem like I am a mean person."
"Yeah, she didn't do it Elizabeth, it was your fault anyway. Why don't you get up from off of the floor. Your cutting such a sorry sight. I mean we did see everything with our own eyes, stop pretending." Ah, my big brother acting like my knight in shining armor. What would I do without him. His words help the crowd to zoom in on our figures. I look way worse than the person who is claiming to be the victim, making people come to the conclusion that Elizabeth is over reacting. That she resembles an attention seeker. Though they're not far off...
"That wasn't wha-what I was trying to say." Reluctantly she grabs my hand. Her face a deep red and her head hung down in shame. The people think it's from embarrassment but I know she's just trying to hide her anger.
I squeeze her hand tightly making her squeal from the pain, drawing peculiar gazes from the crowd. But all they can see is my smiling guiltless face, making people judge her as a drama queen.
Ah, the sweet taste of vengeance. I love it!
