Your mind is like water my friend
When it is agitated
it becomes
difficult to see,
But if you allow it
to settle
the answer,
becomes clear.
-Kung Fu Panda
In class I stare at the teacher, my eyes are glazed over as I think about other things, detached from the lesson. The class I am in at the moment is power control. It consists of four main teachers, both with different powers. Each of the students follow the teacher who's power are in correspondence to theirs.
Ora has one element, wood. It is extremely beneficial to her because she aspires to become an alchemist. Ever since she plucked a treasured rare grade medicinal herb during the weapon choosing ceremony, that was the path that she was destined to follow. She also dabbles in the martial arts field as well. I wonder if she'll ever introduce me to the secret shifu that she picked up all those years ago.
After class I enter my space to practice my moves. I enter the pond filled with the koi fish. Standing in the middle, I relax my body and inhale and exhale to steady my breathe. I'm practicing a technique that can hide my movements, I can only last for ten minutes though. However that is more than enough time to sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy.
I can feel my presence become weak. The fish swim right past me as if I am not there, where as they usually avoid me like the plague. I move my arms in a wind like pattern in order to not disturb the fish. Then when one of them swims by within arms reach I swiftly grab its body.
"Success!" My eyes turn bright at my improvements. I throw the fish back into the pond and come out. Drying myself off with an internal heat spell I recently mastered, I leave the space to go to the school's cafeteria. I'm hungry and I don't feel like cooking. Washing dishes to me is a pain in the buŧŧ.
When I enter, all eyes are on me. Some with disdain and others with envy. I wonder what happened for people to look at me this way. I've only just entered the academy.
I stand on the line for my food, when a random girl cuts in front of me.
"Hey, You can not skip me. I was here first." I say irritated. Who do these people think they are?
The girl turns around and looks at me with undisguised disgust. "Trash like you don't have rights in this school." Don't tell me she is one of those mindless cannon fodders who stupidly court death all in an attempt to make me appear superior.
If I were a normal person I would have argued with her over such trivial matters until my name had been cleared, but I am hungry. So let's do this the quick way.
"Listen, I came here to eat. If you don't move I will blast your body into this wall over there," I point to a wall all the way across the wide cafeteria. "I may be the person everyone is talking about for now, but when I beat you to a pulp, who do you think people are going to laugh at for being so weak?"
Her response is to turn around, stepping on my shoes in the process. I crack my neck on both sides. "Okay, looks like we're doing this the hard way." Right as I am about to publicly embarrass her, I think about my lessons with the Jade Emperor. He'd scowl at me for doing something like that.
I push out a breathe of air and sigh to myself. The indirect way it is then. I forgot how hard it was to be the bigger person. During my days on earth I didn't experience bullying before. People usually avoided me. As the saying goes, There's a first for everything.
The doors to the cafeteria open, and in walks Sebastian. I can see the other young ladies sizing him up, wondering whether or not he would be a good match for them. If only they knew.
He walks up to me. "Why are you on the line, you know you can just tell the cook what you want. He is an acquaintance of mine."
"You sure?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's fine. He won't get in trouble. "
I flash him a smile before walking to the front of the line. The cook see's Sebastian behind me and his eyes flash in understanding. I tell him that I am in the mood for divine squid stew. That's one of the specials they have on display. It looks tasty, the mouth watering scent wafts into my nose and I can't help my stomach from growling.
Taking up my dish, he hands me my meal. I see the girl from earlier looking at me with wide eyes, the tips of her ears red. I smirk at her, my eyes giving her a once over in disdain. 'See, I don't even need to wait on the line.' I bet her face is probably burning by now.
