18 Before You See her Face

When I started to walk away, relieved that I didn't embarrass myself, a low, melodious voice swept through every inch of my body, giving me shivers.

"Oh?Leaving are we?"I suddenly felt as if I was turned to stone and couldn't move.I just stood there, swallowed in my confusion, when I heard a light tapping of footsteps approach me.

"I-I I'm s-sorry, d-do I know y-you?"I stammered, only barely managing to formulate words.I felt that if I moved a muscle it would attract a waiting predator.If only I knew I how right I was.

In the middle of the eerie howling of the wind and the roaring of the rain, the voice that cut through it seemed to be a messenger of death.If seemed as if the racket around was non-existent when she spoke, as if she was stealing your soul.

"I'm afraid not.But you will, very soon."And at the next moment, when she finally came into view, I felt a fear I'd never known before.A primal, instinctive fear, telling me to run.Run, because this is not a person I could hide from.Much less fight.

A young woman wearing a small red t-shirt and long jeans with short, black boots came into view.She was a very normal looking person.

Is what you might think before you see her face.

Her face was twisted in a wide, blood thirsty grin.Showing pointed, knife-sharp teeth that were unnaturally white.She had wide but sharp eyes that were empty with nothing in them.She was eyeless, but still walked around naturally and effortlessly, as if she had 20-20 vision.Her blond hair that fell to her shoulders was dull and lifeless, contrasting with her nightmarish face.

When I saw her face, I stepped back unintentionally, extremely frightened.I had only ever seen anything like that in horror movies.I turned around to go run far, far, far away and debate whether or not this was a prank, only to feel my body go numb and fall on my back.

I had no control over my body.

After a couple of seconds, I hear the 'tap' 'tap' 'tap' of her shoes approaching and I nearly fainted out of fear.When the footsteps stopped, she suddenly bent down and looked at me directly above my face.I desperately wanted to close my eyes and shut out her ghastly face.But I couldn't.I couldn't do anything.

"Well, at least we know you can see.If only a little."

And after that, I passed out.
