Chapter 202 - Unfilial Disciple

Uncle Fu immediately sent over the details once on e-mail, once via phone message, and he even said in the message that he would get someone to leave the doc.u.ments in front of his house. Wang Ming shook his head at how Uncle Fu acted. He acted just like a kid that couldn't wait to open his presents on Christmas Day. What Wang Ming didn't know was that Uncle Fu felt terrified that he would go back on his words.

Reading through the mail, Wang Ming noticed that the competition is already the start of next week and would last for three days. He would only have roughly a week to prepare for everything, even though the competition only measures a chef's cooking skills.

Most of the chefs entering the competition must have all prepared recipes for months, maybe even years ahead. He would only have a week to prepare. He could use the pork belly recipe, but there's no guarantee that the judges hadn't tasted the dish already. If he made the same dish, it might make the judges think he's insincere, maybe even kick him out of the competition.

Wang Ming felt a headache already, even before he started his preparation. Even though he felt stressed out, he still had a smile on his face. He loved the feeling of having pressure on his shoulders and odds stacked against him, then prevailing victorious.

"Are you going to enter a cooking competition?"

He had been so engrossed in reading about the cooking competition that he hadn't even noticed Kang Xiang standing right beside him reading his message. "Yes, my uncle's dream is to win this cooking competition, since he couldn't win he hoped I could do it for him."

"It isn't the one next week, right?"

Kang Xiang's eyes widened up when he asked the question. Seeing Wang Ming nod his head, Kang Xiang didn't know what to think. He never watches cooking shows or competitions, but this competition is just too big for him not to know about. He had heard and read that Wang Ming's restaurant is doing great now and it's one of the best up-and-coming restaurants, but he didn't think that Wang Ming's cooking would be that great, that he could compete in this competition.

"Are you sure Wang Ming? Most chefs attending that competition is at the pinnacle of the cooking world. Some have even competed with the biggest chefs in the world like Ramsay, Keller, Ducasse ect. I know you're great, but can't it wait for a few more years? You won't stand a chance against them now."

"Thanks buddy, but I have to do this. I promised Uncle Fu to do it, I know my chances are low but even then I will do my best. At worst, I will just think of it as a learning experience. If I do well enough, it might not even be too bad for my reputation. People might misunderstand my intention and think that I'm c.o.c.ky, but it's their mind they can think whatever they want."

Walking around outside, Wang Ming felt conflicted, he wanted to go home and prepare for the competition immediately. But it was then he thought of his master. He had been an unfilial disciple as he had not practiced the martial arts his master had taught him at all. He would have to do it now or else he wouldn't be able to face his master next time he visits. His master had told him to practice the martial arts every day, he would also have to visit his master soon.

Even though they barely know each other, even he knew that once a master, always a father. Since he's Jie's student, then he would respect him just like his own father. Master Jie told him to train everyday then he would do it from today.

Wang Ming walked to the closest park he could find. He could have trained anywhere, but the air at the parks is the best. Also, he didn't want to train somewhere he could hit people easily. The park he had chosen close to the FengShong market didn't have too many people walking about. Seems like the heat's too much for most people today, most people there were having a break or making their way home.

The park wasn't that big, only a few hundred square meters, but even then it looked beautiful with an enormous fountain in the middle of the park and trees surrounding the fountain. Wang Ming trained close to the fountain as the sound of the water made him feel relaxed.

Master Jie hadn't taught him a lot yet, but what his master had taught him last time, saved his life against Zhou Jian. It sounds like a simple technique to use all the power in your body to power your punch, but in reality it's incredibly hard. To do it, you need to have a mental connection with every single muscle fiber in your body and to have them all contract every single muscle in your body to power the punch.

Wang Ming was just lucky last time at the moment he faced death, that he succeeded using the technique but still he only contracted about 70% of his power, if he had contracted 100% of his power then Zhou Jian would have been dead or crippled. It doesn't sound impressive, but to use all your power whenever you want is something every martial artist dreams of.

Wang Ming then used the next two hours punching the air, trying to remember the feeling he had last time. He tried his hardest to imitate the punch that he had used on Zhou Jian, recalling the feeling at that moment and everything his master had taught him. But even how he hard he tried, it just didn't feel the same. He felt that his mastery over the technique had gotten better already just after the first training session, but only by 10-20%.

He wanted to train more to perfect the technique as fast as possible, but after two hours of hard work, his body felt weak. In his rush he had completely forgotten about his injuries, he could feel that if he keeps pushing his body, then he would do more bad than good, haste makes waste.

Sweat was dripping from his body from all the training, sadly he hadn't brought with him a towel, as his training wasn't part of the plan, for now he could only use his t-shirt as a towel instead. When Wang Ming pulled off his t-shirt to dry off the sweat, he could hear people s.u.c.k.i.n.g in their breath around him.

Wang Ming felt uncomfortable being stared at. He wanted to wear the t-shirt to cover up his body, but it was still wet so he could only endure their stares. Wang Ming escaped the park as fast as his weary legs allowed. The women felt disappointed that he got away before they could ask for his contact information.

Before he could run far, Wang Ming heard a loud scream. It sounded like it belonged to a young girl. Just on the other side of the park.

Even though he didn't want to be nosey, he couldn't ignore the call of help from a young girl. With blistering speed, Wang Ming ran towards the sounds. His legs were burning, but he knew that each second delayed could put the girl in danger. He ran towards the sounds until he came to the edge of the park. There he saw a 5 thugs surrounding a young girl.

There were people who had seen the thugs, but they all pretended like they didn't hear the girl's shout and walked by.

"Don't come closer! My sister is a police officer! If you hurt me, my sister will put you all in jail for a lifetime!"

The leader laughed at the girl's threat. He didn't care at all, as almost every victim had the same reaction which is to threaten or beg them. Even if she told the truth and got her sister to arrest them, he could just flee to another city for a few months until everything's settled before coming back. The little girl looked so juicy that he couldn't help himself. He didn't know how old the girl was, but she looked young. He had never played with someone so young before as he usually prefers older women but this girl. She ignited his fire.

Wang Ming felt disgusted by their actions. How could they bully such a young girl? He could see the l.u.s.t in the men's eyes. If he hadn't come, then he's afraid they would kidnap the girl and r.a.p.ed her. Approaching the girl, Wang Ming grabbed her shoulder and pulled her behind him. "Don't be afraid, I'll protect you."

Looking at Wang Ming's body the thugs felt intimidated, Wang Ming wasn't just ripped but they could clearly see his muscles aren't just for show, Wang Ming clearly looked like a martial artist. The girl blushed, looking at her saviors muscly back; she had never seen someone so aesthetic, yet so strong before.

The lead thug also felt intimidated he knew his and his underlings abilities. They could beat normal persons, but facing Wang Ming he had no confidence. But how could he act like a wussy in front of his brothers, even though he felt terrified he still had to teach Wang Ming a lesson.

"Who the f.u.c.k are you to interfere in our business?"
