Chapter 236 - Fortune

Peng Tong exhausted his contacts, but they were all dead ends. No one would tell him anything except one friend. Luckily he didn't run into any other ambushes, they just refused to tell him anything and sent him away. Friends he had known for years even refused to open the door to him. It's as they say when you face danger, only your genuine friends will help you. Though for some he didn't hold a grudge against as they're only refusing to protect themselves and those close to them.

He got little information from this friend, but what he got was important. The Cao family would have a family meeting at their family house the next day. The Cao's family house is a relatively small house on the outskirts of Liaoling city. It's where the Cao family ancestors started from, even though the Cao family is successful now and they have multiple homes and hotels. They still conduct all important meetings there.

At first Peng Tong didn't know how he would infiltrate the family house, but he found out that the Cao family had hired a restaurant to serve food at the meeting. He could pretend to be a waiter, even though he couldn't be in the room when they have the meeting. It would be a simple job to rig a few microphones in the room while he serves the food.

Using a lot of sweet words and 50 thousand yuan, he convinced the manager of the restaurant to let him join them to the Cao family house. He didn't tell the manger his real purpose, instead he told him he wanted to get closer to the Cao family as he wanted to open his own business. The manager was reluctant, as if something happens, then he would lose his job. But the manager believed him as people always try to do crazy things to get close to the powerful families, there are many benefits being connected with them.

With the Cao family behind your back, if you want to become successful, it's easy as a snap of their fingers. The manager only had two conditions, and that is if things went south then Peng Tong would take all blame and they never had this conversation. He had no qualms with the conditions, as Peng Tong didn't want others to take the fall for what he did.

Buying a few wireless microphones which he could connect to his phone, Peng Tong went back to his hotel, where he would wait until the next day. He switched clothes multiple times, so no one could track him.

Wang Ming didn't think that his face would be so recognizable already, he had just been on tv a few hours ago. There were so many people swarming him that the guards thought that there was a riot happening, luckily they also knew his face and escorted him, Fu Ya and Ming Ming into the amus.e.m.e.nt park, skipping the line.

They also gave him shades, a mask and a hat so that no one could recognize him. Wang Ming sighed. He didn't think that this would be the consequence of joining the competition. He regretted it, but there's no way back now. At least after wearing the mask he still got stares from other people, but it was more curious looks. Some that were in the queue earlier wanted to approach him to get a picture, but they respected he wanted to have a great time with his family like themselves.

Fu Ya felt proud that Wang Ming were so popular now but it felt a bit suffocating that so many people approached them just moments ago, though that was only minor her biggest fear was that as only an owner of a small clothing shop is she really suited with Wang Ming? He's only 25 years old yet he has a successful restaurant and even has a net worth of 50 million yuan.

At first she didn't mind as who isn't proud when their significant other become successful, but everything happened so fast and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop either. She didn't want to feel this way but when they didn't announce Wang Ming's name she felt relieved, as the further he gets into the competition, the further she felt that he's going to slip away from her. She's not like Lang Lin who's coming from a rich and powerful family, not only that she has extra baggage, Ming Ming.

Even though she has the beauty, Lang Lin and Qiao Meng doesn't lack that either, nothing she has would make Wang Ming choose her above them. They all coexist for now, but one day Wang Ming still has to choose one of them. She regards Lang Lin and Qiao Meng as her friends, so close that she might not even have a problem with sharing Wang Ming with them if shove comes to push. Her thoughts were so messed up, she didn't even know what to think anymore.

Seeing Fu Ya's sad face, Wang Ming thought that Fu Ya felt uncomfortable getting stared at, though he felt she should be accustomed to it as he would probably be a millionaire if he got one yuan, for every man staring at her when they go out. Hugging her, Wang Ming said. "Is everything okay? You look so out of it, I'm sorry that there's many people staring, I can't do anything about it."

"It's fine. I'm out of it."

"Are you sure, we can go another time if you're not up to it." Hearing Wang Ming's genuine concern made Fu Ya want to cry. She felt so touched that Wang Ming would put her feelings and well being above everything else.

"I'm okay, hubby! I want to have fun with you and Ming Ming today. I'll get better, I just need some time. It's your and Ming Ming's first time here we need to have fun. Just look at Ming Ming she would be disappointed if we go home now."

Ming Ming had stars in her eyes seeing the beautiful horse carousel, she had seen them in cartoons so many times but she had never tried them. Today would be the day! Sadly, the line was long, but they were more than happy lining up for the carousel. The queue went fasted than they expected but it took them 20 minutes to get the ride.

Wang Ming and Ming Ming sat on a beautiful pink unicorn, Ming Ming trembled in excitement so much that she couldn't even sit still. When the carousel started, Ming Ming did as she had seen in the cartoons, to stick out her tongue to the side. She didn't know why they did it but it looked fun, but after going around a few rounds she didn't dare to anymore as on the third round a mosquito flew right into her mouth.

Both he and Fu Ya died laughing seeing the poor girl coughing, of course after they checked she was okay. After taking a few more rides, they bought ice cream and waffles. Since Ming Ming is too young, they couldn't ride big rides. So they settled with the minor games and rides.

Wang Ming hadn't had so much fun in a long time. Everything went smoothly until they walked past a fortune shop. He doesn't believe in fortune tellers, but Ming Ming became interested in one of the crystal balls and wanted to buy one. He just wanted to buy one of the crystal balls then get out of the shop, but the shopkeeper an old decrepit lady wanted to see his future by reading his palm she also got him to pick a card before she would sell it to him.

The fortune teller had a big smile on her face when she saw his palm, but after seeing what card Wang Ming had pulled, her smile turned to a frown in a second. Wang Ming hadn't even seen what card he had pulled, but with her reaction it would either have been a great one or horrendous one.

"Miss, what do you see? Is it good or bad?" Even though he doesn't believe in tarot, he felt intrigued by her reaction. What could she have seen that made her react like that?

But without telling him anything, she gave Ming Ming a crystal ball and threw them out her shop. She even went as far as locking the door and pulling the curtains. There were a few people waiting in line who didn't even get to enter her shop.

Looking at the door weirdly, they went on with their adventure at the park. Inside the shop, the fortune teller wiped her sweaty forehead. Wang Ming hadn't realized earlier, but he took two cards, The Death and The Emperor card, the card death doesn't necessarily means that people will die around you. Sometimes it can mean that you die or fail then become an emperor or to improve. But with Wang Ming's palm reading, everything changed.

From what she could read, Wang Ming would become an emperor, but the road wouldn't be easy but also filled with his enemies' necks on the ground. She had never read such a bloody future before.
