"HUE WAKE UP!"

He was having another terror, and this was one of those times where he might seriously hurt me. I held Eugene down with five of my tails, but he was still able to squirm and wiggle.

"Eugene! For the love of Cha—"

A green flash ignited the room, slamming me into the wall. He had broken free. Hue's eyes flared green and mumbled something about vampires. Then his mumbling began to morph his teeth into sharp needles.

I growled and charged forward. I hated it when Hue had his night terrors. They were unpredictable and, what's worse, was that he had no idea he was having one. I tried grabbing him, but his body acted like smoke.

He was unnaturally fast and zipped past my tails and grabbing paws. One moment, he was in front of me the next he was gone.

There came a piercing pain on my shoulder. Immediately, I tried to get him off before he drained all of my blood. I snapped a paw into Hue's face to stun him; thankfully, it worked.

He was like a zombie. The snap to the face did more than stun him; it made him revert into normal but with a bloody nose and dull green eyes.

I shot my tails out to capture him, fused my other four tails, and grabbed Hue's phone. I swiped through the favorites to locate Emma and dial her number.

"Hue-"

"Emma it's me, I need you here now to wake up Hue. Hue has a bad terror tonight, and I can't wake him. He bit me pretty bad, and I'm feeling light-headed," I pat into the phone.

I wasn't mad at her just the situation.

"I'm on my way!"

I needed to make sure the room looked normal. Other than the rumbling, there wasn't anything out of the normal. Hue started to struggle and become stronger against his restraints.

"Mimiku!"

Emma burst through the door, seeing me bloody on my shoulder, and Hue.

She maneuvered in between my tails and wrapped an arm around Hue's waist and cradled the back of his head with the other. She spoke inaudible, but Hue slumped in her arms fast asleep.

"Hue, Eugene. It's time to wake up," Emma whispered.

Her body turned a light white cream color, and the wall built a layer of frost. Eugene's struggling subsided instantly. She combed his air as she made her way to his bed.

He was taller than her, which, made Emma putting Hue in bed comical, but she somehow did it with a kind of grace as well.

"You going to be okay?" Emma asked, still petting Hue.

"I'll be fine, just a tiny bite," I whispered, putting a paw firmly on my wound.

My lightheadedness was beginning to take its toll, but before I collapsed to the floor, Nekko caught me.

Nekko looks too damn cute when she's worried.

"Nekko, help Mimiku," Emma ordered.

"Please tell me you're staying tonight?" I begged.

Emma turned with a smile on her face.

"Of Course."

~ ~ ~

I woke up and wished I hadn't. I was the walking dead, the alarm clock was screeching at me, but it wasn't registering, and someone yelled at me to shut it off.

I pressed the off button.

I crawled out of bed and dead-walked to Mimiku's room. The door was open, and I caught a glimpse of her diving back into her bed.

"Mimiku, it's time to get up. I gotta take a shower," I mumbled, shuffling to the bathroom door.

The door was closed, and the light was on.

Who's in the bathroom?

I reached for the knob, twisted it, and pushed the door open.

There shouldn't be anyone in here.

The door swung open, and I saw blurry Emma in just a towel. I wiped my eyes.

There's no way this is real. Emma left last night for her family's house. She shouldn't be there!

"Emma? What are you doing here?" I asked sleepily.

My eyes were finally clear of sleepies, and Emma was in shock, gripping her towel, turning pink, getting angry.

She's still in a towel, just a towel.

"Get out of the bathroom, you pervert!" she screamed, turning her body away from me.

It hadn't processed that I saw Emma in a towel. I was still trying to figure out why she was here. Not also registering, she does have a room downstairs. What I did register, thankfully in time, was that she had raised her hand and formed several ice daggers.

They are pointed at me.

"No, wait, it's not what you think!"

I didn't have time to finish. I slammed the door in time to have about twenty sharp ice tips poke through the door.

"Hue, coffee is ready," I heard Mimiku call from downstairs.

If Mimiku is downstairs already, then that means.

On cue, Nekko flew out of the room and planted her feet into my gut.

I rarely ever see Nekko mad. She's a sweet, shy, and kind kitsune, but when you accidentally open the door on her master, and she's in a towel; Nekko gets a little upset.

"Hugh," I expelled from my mouth, with air leaving my lungs. I was sent down the stairs, not touching a single step, and only stopping when the ground forced me. I slid a few feet and saw Mimiku dressed in her black dress uniform: black dress skirt, black blazer, with a brown cord that wrapped around her right shoulder, medals on her left upper chest, and her black dress cap on the table.

Nekko was the one whom I saw in Mimiku's room. This issue will not go over well at breakfast.

Mimiku was sipping her cup of coffee with the most mischievous grin on her face.

"Morning, honey," she chirped.

I groaned as I sat up. Mimiku had planned this, and if she hadn't, she didn't do anything to stop it.

"You could have said something before I…"

I waved a hand to the upstairs.

"And miss all the chaos and mayhem the ensued after," she giggled, "not a chance. I feed off that."

That she did, she feeds off it.

Mimiku acted like a regular boring field kitsune or harvest kitsune, but, in reality, she's pretty destructive.

This relationship between Mimiku's and Nekko's, I found strange. You have light and dark dating each other, among other things, and Nekko doesn't know she's dating the dark.

What could ever go wrong?

I found a seat next to Mimiku, and she poured me a cup of coffee.

Thank the gods for the coffee.

I took a sip of the special brew. The taste was smooth, dark, vibrant, and most of all, awakening. I felt alive again, exhausted, but ready for the rest of the day.

Provided I survive breakfast.

Emma finally came down out of the bathroom, in a robe, and sharply walked into her room. She didn't even look at me.

Man, I can't even apologize to her yet.

I walked up to the stairs and took a quick shower. I didn't want any more chaos this morning, and I was paranoid that Emma would come in and freeze me in the bathroom.

After the shower, I walked back into my room, comb my hair back, get in some clean clothes, and put on a light spray of cologne that Emma said she liked. I wanted to tell her I'm sorry.

Breakfast of scrambled egg, sausage, and bacon, was served to everyone courtesy of Nekko and Mimiku, but I didn't get any bacon. The island was quiet with a few quick sips of coffee. There were many times that I wanted to speak and tell Emma I was sorry, yet, the silence was over barring.

I didn't want to disturb it.

Emma wore her short kimono that ended an inch and a half above her knees, fastened with a wide black sash, she had long, thigh-high, stockings that were open-toed, wearing no shoes, and she wore her family rob. She had, on her left thigh, a square utility box that probably held shuriken stars, and on her left thigh a rectangle utility box. This one was her daggers. Her katana was strapped to her lower back and had the knives I gave her, sitting on the table.

That, at least, made me smile. Nekko was in her kimono and back to her quiet self. Emma and Nekko would magically disappear before leaving the house in a way that ninjas were epically known for.

"Okay time to break the silence here. Emma, I had a bad night, and I was out of it this morning. I didn't register anything till it was too late. I am so very sorry. I was confused because I thought you had stayed at your family's house for the night," I confessed in a single breath.

Emma played it cool, finished her bite, and took a sip of coffee.

"I know," she answered.

"Mimiku told me that you had a bad episode last night, one, more aggressive than the usual," she explained.

I felt embarrassed.

"We had gotten things done, at home, early and wanted to come back for the night. Mimiku had just gotten you down and out of your episode when we got back."

I don't remember any of that from last night.

Emma took a bite of her bacon and handed me the other half. She forgave me. I took the piece and ate it. She and Nekko then got up and stood next to each other. Mimiku quickly got up and gave Nekko a touch on her nose with hers.

They're about to do their ninja thing!

I was poised in my seat, fixed on not blinking, wanting to see how they disappeared. I thought Emma gave me a coy smile before she put on her wolf spook mask, but I couldn't be sure. My eyes were beginning to water as Emma put to fingers up in front of her face. Nekko did the same.

My eyelids suddenly blinked, and they were gone.

"Son of a monkey," I exhaled, foiled again not seeing their disappearing trick.

One day, I am going to see that trick all the way through.

"Did you like what you saw?" Mimiku taunted me, acting innocent.

I rolled my eyes at her, feeling hot in the face, and looked at the time. Thirty minutes before I needed to be at work. I needed to meditate.

I walked back up to my room and closed the door. For most magi, learning your art takes years to learn and years more to master.

For a necromancer, all that knowledge is passed down to me from my father. All I need to do is meditate. He would have taught me if he was alive, but well, with meditation, I can look into the past and learn how to do things.

At times, it was slow, and other times the incantations and spells are accessible. I found that if necros tattoo their body, it helped summon or cast spells without speaking. Just think and boom, the tattoo will activate.

With that said, and the help of Mimiku, I have hundreds of tattoos that are invisible. They are blacklight tattoos; shine a black over that tattoo, and it showed up with unique colors. Except with mine, you must have a specific light for them to show up. When the time comes, these tattoos will appear, but for now, they laid hidden away.

I sat down on my floor, folded my legs over each other, put my hands on my knees, touched my middle fingers to my thumbs, and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
