"One last question. Do you want to be my disciple?"
Silent filled the atmosphere where the question was asked. It was something that Rose never expected. She looked at Alex, dumbfounded, wondering if this was real or not.
She had seen him stop two Martial Masters with just a wave of his hands. With that power and Alex's age, he should be a Martial Grandmaster or something. So, she thought Alex must also be a talented person.
"I…" She looked left and right, not knowing what to do. She wanted to accept, but feeling she was not worth it. She started her cultivation two years ago, and she could only reach Foundation Stage 3. So, she thought she was only a mediocre person. "I am a person without talent…"
"Don't say it is because of a talent or something. What I am asking you is whether you want to be my disciple or not. Not the excuse. So, you need to answer me, yes or no." Alex simply said.
"I…" She wanted to say no, but she felt she would lose everything if she said it. She gritted her teeth and kneeled on the ground. She said, "Useless Disciple Rose Skewes, greets Master." While slowly putting her head on the ground, kowtowing.
Alex waved his hands to help her up. "Don't say you are useless or something. If you think you lack talents, you just need to grab it from some old men's inheritances or having a fateful encounter. And meeting me here is your fateful encounter."
He took out the Bow Mastery Card and placed it on her forehead before activating it. The card then vanished into thin air. She was dumbfounded by this.
"Wha-!"
"This is your Fateful enc… Hmm, not really right. This is your Cheat Ability. And the first order of your master is to never say a single word about this. Do you understand?"
[Cheat Ability? Host, you suck.]
"Shut up." Alex shrugged. "You are also my Cheat Ability."
[True, saying I am your fateful encounter is a bit… good, I think?]
The system girl wanted to say it did not match as it was a meeting between a system and a Host. However, she ultimately said it was good because she thought it was a meeting between her as an individual and Alex. It was truly a fateful meeting.
Alex decided to ignore it and said to Rose. "Anyway, you are my disciple now. So, I think I should give you something first other than that cheat ability."
Alex pondered what to give her. "Hmm… Well, I will think about it later when we reach the sect."
He then grabbed her and flew to the sect. On the way, Alex asked Anna to make Njomo come back to the sect.
After two days, they finally arrived at Heavenly Sword Sect, specifically the Ninth Peak. Alex took her to his house and met Anya.
She was astonished to see Anya as she never saw someone this pretty.
On the other hand, Anya looked at Alex with a weird expression. "Alex, have you swing that way?"
"Nope." Alex simply shook his head. "She has become my disciple since two days ago. Her name is Rose Skewes."
"Ah, I see." Anya nodded her head, not because she knew about Rose being Alex's disciple, but because Rose's full name was Rose Skewes. Alex had a certain story with Skewes, so with some tweaking, she could picture this would happen.
He then looked at Rose, "This is Anya, you can call her-"
"Master's wife, you can certainly call me Master's wife. No, you need-gah!"
Alex hit her head again and said, "You are not."
"It is only a matter of time!" She said like she was stating a fact.
Alex simply smiled and placed his hand on her head. Anya thought he agreed with her statement, but suddenly, she felt that the grip slowly tightened. She became pale as she said, "Alex, it is starting to hurt."
"You can heal yourself later," Alex said without letting his smile vanish.
"Uhm… I'm sorry, I won't say it again."
Alex finally released her head and pushed Rose gently to her. "Anyway, wash her first for me."
"Sure." Anya nodded and pulled Rose to the bath. Rose did not resist as it was what her master wanted, and she was certainly dirty.
One hour passed as they had yet to come out of the bathroom. Suddenly, Alex got visitors, and it turned out to be Charya and Evelyn. It seemed they realized Alex had come back and checked on him.
"Yo, it seems you have become a Martial King," Charya said, surprised. Evelyn could only stare at him with astonishment.
However, their eyes were taken away by the sight of two people on his back. They already knew about the golden-haired beauty, but they had no idea who the light blue-haired little girl was. After she washed herself, her true appearance finally came out. Without dirt covering her face, her pretty face finally showed itself, and Alex could understand why that Young Master wanted her.
Alex did not have clothes for a little girl, so he just gave her a long robe that he cut a bit for her to wear for a while. She looked as pretty as Evelyn when Alex first met her in the recruitment test a few years ago.
"Do you swing that way?" Charya could not help but blurt out that question.
"Why do all of you think like that…" Alex was speechless as she just asked the same question as Anya. He shook his head and said, "No, she is my disciple. Well, she is not like Putri and Evelyn, so you can say she is my true disciple."
"I see." Charya nodded, understanding what he meant.
"Where do you meet her?"
"On my way home, I met her and asked her to be my disciple. I thought about asking you to take care of her." Alex said.
"Me? Why?" Charya was confused.
"Her element is Lightning, I have confirmed it except it has yet to be awakened. So, she can't use it yet; I will try to awaken it later." Alex said.
"Ah, you want me to take care of her because we have the same elements." Charya nodded. "By the way, what is her weapon? This is Heavenly Sword Sect, you know."
"Bow," Alex said. There was a trace of troubled expression in Charya's face, but Alex immediately said, "You don't need to care about her weapon. I will ask a few disciples in the Ninth Peak to show her about bows, she should understand the basics easily."
Charya furrowed her eyebrows. "Another monster like you?"
"Oi, don't say it right in front of my face, will you? Anyway, just take care of her Lightning Element. I will try to give her what she needs, but it is certainly good to have experience on the outside." Alex said.
"Alright. I will try to help you since it is pretty boring this day with just this little girl around." Charya said while placing her hand on Evelyn's head. She then looked at Rose with a pity. "Still, poor girl. You need to experience demonic training."
"Oi."
"Gahaha." Charya simply laughed.
Meanwhile, Evelyn had a contradictory thought. She was jealous of this little girl that came out of nowhere and suddenly became Alex's disciple. Alex never became his mentor or Master this entire time, and to think this little girl became his disciple just like that.
She suddenly had an absurd imagination. It might be because she had grown into a teenager, Alex had lost interest in her. She immediately hugged Alex while tears started coming out of her eyes. "Big… big brother Alex, I am sorry for growing up. Please don't abandon Evelyn."
"I don't know what you are talking about, but I am sure you misunderstand something."
Rose looked at them, clueless. She then heard Alex say, "Rose, come here. Meet Elder Charya, who will take care of your lightning element training, and big sister Evelyn."
"Eh?" Rose was not surprised by the two people, but because Alex knew her element. No one could know someone's element even he/she herself when the element had yet to be awakened. So, she just could not understand why he knew. "Master, how do you know?
"I have my own way." Alex had Spirit Eyes, so he could check it easily.
Rose did not understand but still walked to him. She introduced herself timidly, "I-I am Rose Skewes."
"This girl must not know your identity, eh? Master?" Charya made a smug smile, trying to tease him.
Alex said, "I have told her my name."
"Oh… So, she doesn't know the information about you, I guess."
"She has a pretty rough life, so maybe."
"Well, you are going to buy her new clothes, right?"
"Yeah." Alex nodded.
"Well, I will bring this girl first, and you can do your thing first," Charya said and took Evelyn back.
Alex nodded. After Charya and Evelyn left, he took Rose to the Heavenly Sword Sect to get a few clothes. He did not bring Anya thought as he felt they would have trouble.
After that, Alex finally thought about what to give her. He already thought of two things that she needed. It was his two old books. Basic Body Tempering Manual and Basic Cultivation Manual. The tempering manual was for her to slowly strengthen her body, but she might not really need it as she had grown in this environment, and she said she was a hunter herself. But, she certainly needed the Basic Cultivation Manual as he even still used this cultivation manual. After all, his manual absorbed the purest form of energy.
As for her bow, he simply gave her a rank 2 bow since she would become a Martial Master soon enough. He did not want to give her a powerful bow, lest she became reliant on it.
"Before you learn these two, I need to teach you a single thing," Alex said.
"What is it, Master?" Rose asked.
"You need to make sure you know your enemy, your friend, and innocent people. And you shall never confuse between them." Alex said.
"My enemy, my friend, and innocent people?" Rose tilted her head, confused.
"Yeah. I tell you this based on my experiences. You shall treat your enemy like a bitter winter and kill them to not leave any future trouble for you… trust me, if you spare your enemy because you feel pity or because of some circumstances, you will regret it in the future.
"As for your friend… You… can treat them nicely since they are your friends. But beware of fake friends. There are many fake friends because they befriend you for a certain benefit and will leave or backstab you at your weakest time.
"Lastly, you should never harm Innocent people, AKA bystanders. If you are trying to avenge your parents, you need to know who are involved and who are not. Simply said, you can have your revenge but not be blinded by it." This was the first thing he needed to teach her as a disciple of a Gacha Sovereign, who related with Luck and Karma, she needed to know this.
"I…"
"What? You don't understand it?" Alex asked.
"Uh…" Rose nodded, downcast. She was ashamed she could not understand what her master was talking about.
"It's fine if you don't understand it immediately. However, you need to etch these words in your mind, and I am sure these words will be useful for you at one point." Alex said.
"Mhm." She nodded furiously.
"Good. I think you don't really need that Body Tempering Manual, as I will personally teach you. But you need to adhere the Cultivation Manual. There might be many stronger Cultivation techniques, but no matter what, you need to use this one since I still use it. You might be wondering why, but even though it is slower, this cultivation manual will take you to the top." Alex said.
She nodded as she grabbed the two books tightly.
