Fu Yan got the message from Tang Ru and nodded with satisfaction. He was glad that the person he chose was eager and hard-working.
He let Qing send more data and some advanced programming techniques so that Tang could improve himself.
After finishing this, he asked Qing about the data of new players.
"Big Brother, after the new promotion targeted towards parents, 77k new players have joined the game so far, and the majority of them are below the age of 16."
Fu Yan nodded upon hearing this and asked some other minor things. Qing showed him detailed data of each inquiry which helped Fu Yan a lot in understanding it.
He started to work on the language translator and told Qing not to disturb him unless there is an important matter to report. He didn't know why he was feeling agitated and wanted to improve himself to the rank of a librarian as fast as possible. The only way to improve was to bring new knowledge and technology to the library so he devoted himself to studying and writing the program.
"I think with the completion of this language translator software, I can become a librarian. It's just that I have to work really hard on it."
..................…..
Mrs. Heng is a typical housewife. She has a good husband who cares a lot for her and she loves him too.
She has a son which is the dearest thing to them because he was born 10 years after their marriage, and they had no children after him. So they cherished him a lot and spoiled him.
They got him everything that he ever wished for because they could. Her husband was a real estate developer and was well known in the community.
They were a happy family but just one thing worried Miss Heng a lot. It was that her son had become addicted to games and he had started to neglect his studies. He would play games all day and never studied.
She and her husband were worried that the child might ruin his future this way.
Today was the same. when she woke up in the morning, she heard him shouting in his room. Apparently he was talking to his teammates about some quest.
She knocked on his door but no reply came. She sighed and opened the door but to her surprise, Her son, Zing was reading a book and writing something in a notebook from time to time. It looked like he was solving a math problem.
She became overwhelmed with joy and hugged her son.
"Son, it looks like you have realized the importance of studying. I am so proud of you."
Zing looked at his mom who was showering love on him and said with a confused tone.
"What do you mean by studying?. I am just finding the answer to a quest in the game. The reward for completing the question is very good and if your answer is correct and you do it solo, you might even get silver armor."
Mrs. Heng was confused upon hearing this. She looked at the notebook in Zing's hand and the mathematics book that was open on the table.
"He is playing a game? But how come he is solving a math problem?"
She was confused so she asked.
"But son! are you not solving a math problem, so how come you say its a quest in the game."
Zing smiled and started to explain.
"Well this is a new game that was released 3 months ago and it's very popular right now. The graphics and quests in the game are very good and its player base is growing at a very fast pace."
Mrs. Heng interrupted him and asked.
"But what does that have to do with you solving the math problem."
Zing patiently replied.
"Well this game is very hot and its quests are generated in a way that you can apply what you learn during the game to real life. Players below age 16 cannot choose a profession so they get the default profession set by the game company. But at the start they can choose a subject they are interested in and the quests that will be generated would be from those subjects only. I chose mathematics as my subject so it gave me a math problem to finish the quest."
Mrs. Heng was surprised and somewhat thankful to the game company that her son was studying and having fun at the same time.
She kissed her son on the forehead and said.
"Don't work yourself too hard, if you feel difficulty while solving math problems. "Cough" I mean during quests, you can ask us for help. We can arrange for someone who is good at math to be a game instructor for you."
Her word choice was very good and she used her wording in such a way that her son would feel like she was supporting him in playing the game. The instructor would obviously be a tutor whose specialization is in mathematics.
When she came down in the lounge, her face had a faint smile and she looked a lot fresher. It's true that if you have a good child, your life prolongs.
Her husband, Liao, when he saw her smiling and beaming with joy, he asked.
"Heng, you look a lot fresh today and happy too. Did something good happen?"
She nodded upon hearing the inquiry from her husband and started to explain why she was happy.
After hearing this, Liao remained silent for a minute.
"Well, it is good that he is studying. I will ask around about this game and see what it's about. But anyway, I am also happy that our son is studying even if it's for the sake of playing the game, it still makes me happy because this way he won't waste his time in the future."
Mrs. Heng nodded and told him about her plan of hiring a tutor to help him study.
"Ok, do as you wish. If he makes progress in his studies with this, I am more than happy to pay even double or triple the amount of money."
Similar conversations were happening in many households as their children had started to study to play a game. Some were happy, some were skeptical. But the effect of all this was that many new players were joining the game and some parents were encouraging their children to play this game after hearing about the benefits from others.
